Thermal expansion property at 288°C and methylene chloride resistance of poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene ether (PPE)/epoxy laminate were found to be affected by the functionality on PPE resin. Nonlofting PPE/epoxy laminates were prepared with the PPE grafted with fumaric acid or the PPE having (di-n-butylamino) methyl substituent on the polymer backbone. Employing vacuum-vented PPE extrudate or phenol-redistributed PPE was also effective in improving the PPE/epoxy laminate properties. Attempts to preparing a real PPE/epoxy interpenetrating network as the matrix material for the laminate were also made by incorporating both PPE crosslinker and epoxy curing catalysts in the same formulation. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

The effects of number of homogenization passes, pH, and NaCl concentration on the formation and stability of oil-in-water emulsions comprising a mixture of a biosurfactant (Quillaja bark saponin) and a globular protein (β-lactoglobulin) were investigated. The emulsions were characterized as to visual appearance, droplet size, droplet surface charge, and rheology. The emulsions obtained by different conditions (4, 6, or 8 passes; pH 7, 8, or 9; and 0, 100, or 200 mmol L?1 of NaCl) were polydisperse, presented relatively small average droplet sizes (z-average < 323 nm) as well as negative droplet charge (between –20 and –79.6 mV) in all evaluated conditions. Regardless of the number of homogenization passes, the emulsions exhibited low apparent viscosity and pseudoplastic behavior with small yield stress. Viscoelastic behavior was also observed, thus the emulsions were characterized as weak gels. Four homogenization passes were enough to obtain small droplets in the evaluated conditions. Droplet size was not significantly affected by NaCl concentration and pH (p > 0.05). On the other hand, the absolute ζ-potential values significantly decreased and increased upon increased NaCl content and pH, respectively. Regardless of the tested conditions, all emulsions had good stability against phase separation and droplet aggregation, since no significant changes in average droplet size were observed throughout storage (p > 0.05). In the presence of NaCl, in which droplet charge significantly decreased, emulsion was also stable. Thus, we can conclude that electrostatic repulsion as well as steric repulsion was responsible for stabilization. 相似文献

The aim of the present study was to evaluate three microbial inhibition tests (MIT) based on inhibition of growth of the test organisms: (a) four plate test (FPT) containing Bacillus subtilis BGA, (b) screening test for antibiotic residues (STAR) containing Bacillus stearothermophilus var. calidolactis_ATCC 10149 and (c) the Premi®Test containing Bacillus stearothermophilus var. calidolactis. The tests were used to determine sulphamethazine (SMZ) residues in edible tissues of rabbit after oral administration up to day 15 of the withdrawal period (WP). A solvent extraction procedure was used to enhance the capability of the tests to detect SMZ residues at or below the maximum residue limit (MRL). Para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) was employed to previously identify SMZ residues in the first stage of the residue screening. The presence of SMZ residues in the samples was confirmed and quantified by a validated HPLC method. The Premi®Test detected SMZ residues in the muscle and heart tissue up to day 9 of the WP, and in the liver, lungs and kidneys up to day 10 of the WP. The STAR detected SMZ residues in the edible organs of rabbits up to day 8 of the WP. The kidneys were positive up to day 5 of the WP, the liver until day 4 of the WP and the lungs until day 3 of the WP. No SMZ residues were detected in the muscle and heart. By using the solvent extraction procedure, SMZ residues were detected in the muscle extract up to day 10 of the WP and the muscle was positive until day 6 of the WP. No detection sensitivity was observed using the FPT. After solvent extraction, SMZ residues were detected in the muscle extract until day 8 of the WP and the muscle was positive until day 3 of the WP. No positive results were detected after the addition of PABA into/onto the agar medium. PABA at a concentration of 10 µg ml?1 completely reversed the inhibitory activity of SMZ and enabled reliable identification of SMZ in the examined samples. Using HPLC, SMZ was detected in the muscle samples until day 10 of WP (0.02 mg kg?1) and in the liver until day 12 of the WP (0.09 mg kg?1). The results obtained by the HPLC method and the limit of detection (LOD) of screening tests for SMZ (FPT 0.4 µg ml?1, STAR 0.2 µg ml?1, Premi® Test 0.05 µg ml?1) allowed us to state that the most suitable screening tests for the detection of SMZ residues in the edible tissues of rabbits at level corresponding to the MRL of 0.1 mg kg?1, established for sulphonamides, are the Premi®Test and STAR in conjunction with the solvent-extraction procedure. 相似文献

Furanocoumarins are toxic chemicals that occur naturally in edible food plants such as celery, parsnip, carrot, etc. belonging to the Apiaceae family. Lower levels of these phytochemicals are also found in citrus fruits and other crops representing the Rutaceae family. Since their presence in the human diet represents a food safety issue of concern, more knowledge is needed to reduce consumer exposure. This paper provides an overview of various factors influencing the levels of furanocoumarins in vegetables and processed commodities. Special attention is paid to the comparison of crops from organic and conventional farming systems with regard to levels of furanocoumarins and their changes during storage and processing. The selection of the best-fit-for-purpose analytical method to be implemented in the laboratory is difficult due to availability of multiple methods, targets, aims of detection, and different kinds and sources of more or less reliable information. Several factors, such as method performance, practicability, cost of setup, and running costs need to be considered together with personnel training when selecting the most appropriate method. The aim of our work was to prepare a flexible multicriteria decision analysis model suitable for evaluation and comparison of analytical methods used for the purpose of detecting and/or quantifying genetically modified organisms, and to use this model to evaluate a variety of changing analytical methods. Our study included selection of PCR-, isothermal-, protein-, microarray-, and next-generation sequencing-based methods in simplex and/or multiplex formats. We show that the overall result of their fitness for purpose is relatively similar; however, individual criteria or a group of related criteria exposed more substantial differences between the methods. The proposed model of this decision support system enables easy modifications and is thus suitable for any other application of complex analytical methods. 相似文献

We discuss an adaptive approach towards Content-Based Image Retrieval. It is based on the Ostensive Model of developing information needs—a special kind of relevance feedback model that learns from implicit user feedback and adds a temporal notion to relevance. The ostensive approach supports content-assisted browsing through visualising the interaction by adding user-selected images to a browsing path, which ends with a set of system recommendations. The suggestions are based on an adaptive query learning scheme, in which the query is learnt from previously selected images. Our approach is an adaptation of the original Ostensive Model based on textual features only, to include content-based features to characterise images. In the proposed scheme textual and colour features are combined using the Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence combination. Results from a user-centred, work-task oriented evaluation show that the ostensive interface is preferred over a traditional interface with manual query facilities. This is due to its ability to adapt to the user's need, its intuitiveness and the fluid way in which it operates. Studying and comparing the nature of the underlying information need, it emerges that our approach elicits changes in the user's need based on the interaction, and is successful in adapting the retrieval to match the changes. In addition, a preliminary study of the retrieval performance of the ostensive relevance feedback scheme shows that it can outperform a standard relevance feedback strategy in terms of image recall in category search. 相似文献

A transmission electron microscopy and diffraction study of martensite plates in an Fe-3 pct Mn-3 pct Cr-1 pct C alloy was carried out with particular attention to details of the martensite substructure. A corresponding optical metallographic study of plate morphology was made. A variability in martensite substructure was observed from plate to plate, although a (252)F * plate was generally associated with (112)B transformation twins and {111}F stacking faults. The particular (111)F fault variant gave rise to a wedge-shaped plate morphology. Planar {101}B inhomogeneities were frequently observed in the martensite, and most of these appear to be derived from austenite stacking faults. In general, more than one type of inhomogeneity was observed in a single martensite plate and the “typical” plate substructure was rather difficult to characterize, although the habit plane was found invariably to be (252)F. 相似文献

In this study, the influence of the shape and size of the pores on the mechanical properties of the obtained porous HAP-based bioceramics was investigated. The porous HAP-based bioceramics were obtained starting from spherical calcium hydroxyapatite powder, obtained by hydrothermal syntheses. The number of shapeless inter-agglomerate pores decreased and amount of spherical intra-agglomerate pores increased on increasing the sintering temperature from 1100 °C to 1250 °C. The shape of pores also changed with thermal treatment of specimens; the small pores remained spherical while the larger pores became more spherical in shape, as was proved by image analysis. A three-dimensional, finite element unit cell model was applied to evaluate the influence of pore shape on the mechanical strength of HAP ceramics. By analyzing the effect of the shape of pores to the fracture toughness of sintered porous HAP bioceramics, it was observed that the more spherical the pores were, the tougher became the bioceramics. After sintering at 1250 °C for 2 h, measured toughness was 1.31 MPa m1/2, which is a relatively high value for this type of bioceramics. 相似文献

The carbonization of nanostructures afforded by conducting polymers represents a new route to the preparation of functional nanostructured carbons. The exposure of colloidal polyaniline particles stabilized with poly(N‐vinylpyrrolidone) or silica nanoparticles at 650 °C in inert atmosphere led, in both cases, to nitrogen‐containing carbonaceous materials with specific surface areas of 200 and 205 m2 g?1, respectively, and conductivities of 8.3 × 10?7 and 1.9 × 10?10 S cm?1, respectively. The latter material contained 77 wt% of silica. The original particulate nanostructure of the samples was preserved after carbonization. The carbon‐to‐nitrogen atomic ratio was 7.2 and 7.9; the nitrogen content in the carbonized polyaniline–poly(N‐vinylpyrrolidone) particles was 10.8 wt%. Thermogravimetric analysis in air revealed their stability to be up to 500 °C. This is comparable with commercial multi‐wall carbon nanotubes, which have similar areas of application. The nitrogen‐containing carbons are potentially useful as supports for catalysts and in applications where carbon of higher hydrophilicity would be of benefit.
