Summary The integral of the form , which arises in the convective heat transfer with constant wall temperature, is integrated by using Gauss-Laguerre and Gauss-Legendre Quadrature formulae. It is shown that the Nusselt number can be expressed explicitly in terms of the Prandtl number and the method proposed in this paper is valid for wide range of Prandtl numbers. Examples are given for the cases of flow over a semi-infinite plate and two-dimensional and axisymmetrical stagnations. The results are compared with the exact solutions for Prandtl numbers ranging from 0.006 to 100 (flat plate) and 0.01 to 50 (two-dimensional and axisymmetrical stagnation flows).  相似文献

Summary The magnetohydrodynamic model system is integrated numerically as an initial-value problem. The system is integrated using two-different numerical methods. The first uses a special finite difference scheme introduced byBellman. The second makes use of the classical method of converting a partial differential equation into an infinite system of ordinary differential equations. An orthogonal subspace projection (OSP) method using linear mixture modeling was recently explored in hyperspectral image classification and has shown promise in signature detection, discrimination, and classification. In this paper, the OSP is revisited and extended by three unconstrained least squares subspace projection approaches, called signature space OSP, target signature space OSP, and oblique subspace projection, where the abundances of spectral signatures are not known a priori but need to be estimated, a situation to which the OSP cannot be directly applied. The proposed three subspace projection methods can be used not only to estimate signature abundance, but also to classify a target signature at subpixel scale so as to achieve subpixel detection. As a result, they can be viewed as a posteriori OSP as opposed to OSP, which can be thought of as a priori OSP. In order to evaluate these three approaches, their associated least squares estimation errors are cast as a signal detection problem ill the framework of the Neyman-Pearson detection theory so that the effectiveness of their generated classifiers can be measured by receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis. BACKGROUND/AIMS: Primary carcinoma of the gallbladder is rare and associated with a late diagnosis and poor prognosis. Concurrent acute cholecystitis frequently obscures the presence of carcinoma. The information regarding gallbladder carcinoma with acute cholecystitis is limited. In order to better understand the presentation of gallbladder carcinoma with acute cholecystitis, we retrospectively reviewed the data of patients with primary carcinoma of the gallbladder. METHODOLOGY: The data of 86 patients with primary carcinoma of the gallbladder treated between 1979 and 1994 were compiled and reviewed. The patients were divided into 2 groups: Group 1 (with acute cholecystitis, 21 patients) and Group 2 (without cholecystitis, 65 patients). Clinicopathological comparisons were made and evaluated between these two groups RESULTS: The average age of Group 1 patients was older than that of Group 2 patients (75+/-2 years vs. 63+/-2 years; p<0.05). Three Group 1 patients presented with sepsis. The interval between the onset of symptoms and hospital admission in Group 2 patients was significantly (p<0.05) longer than that in Group 1 patients (243+/-95 days vs. 20+/-11 days). Leukocytosis (>11,000/mm3) was more common in Group 1 patients than in Group 2 patients (47.6% vs. 15.4%). Jaundice was more common in Group 2, and fever was common in Group 1. The majority of Group 2 gallbladder cancers were stage V (75.4%). In contrast, 52.4% of Group 1 gallbladder cancers were stage III and 38.1% were stage V. The 30-day postoperative mortality rate in Group 1 and Group 2 patients was 9.5% and 7.7%, respectively. The cumulative survival of Group 1 patients was not different from that of Group 2 patients (log-rank test, p>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Age, the interval of symptoms prior to admission, the location of abdominal pain, fever, leukocytosis, and the absence of jaundice suggested the presence of acute cholecystitis in gallbladder carcinoma. A high index of suspicion of the disease, intraoperative examination of gallbladder specimens, and more aggressive surgical treatment may improve patient survival.  相似文献

The understanding of solidification curves is crucial for the control of many solidification processes. The solidification curves of seven commercial aluminum alloys (1050, 1070, 1100, 3003, 3004, 5052, and 7075) were determined by using a differential thermal analysis (DTA) coupled with a mathe-matical modeling method, which has advantages over the conventional quenching method or the solidification modeling method. With the proposed technique in this study, the whole spectrum of the solidification curve can be determined with high reliability, without requiring the knowledge of a number of thermophysical parameters, which are usually difficult to obtain.  相似文献

Anodic oxidation at room temperature with pure deionized water as electrolyte and then followed by high-temperature rapid thermal densification was used to prepare high breakdown endurance thin-gate oxides with thicknesses of about 50 Å. It was observed that the oxides prepared by anodic oxidation followed by rapid thermal densification (AOD) show better electrical characteristics than those grown by rapid thermal oxidation (RTO) only. The AOD oxides have a very low midgap interface trap density, Ditm, of smaller than 1×1010 eV-1 cm-2 and negative effective oxide trapped charge. From the smaller leakage currents observed during staircase ramp voltage time-zero dielectric breakdown (TZDB) and constant field time-dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) testings, it is supposed that the uniform interfacial property and the pretrapped negative charges in AOD oxides are responsible for the improved characteristics  相似文献

Integrated circuit (IC) wafer fabrication systems can be characterized as discrete event systems. Petri nets are tools that have been successfully used to model and analyze such systems. This paper reports a project of applying Petri net methodologies to detailed modeling, qualitative analysis, and performance evaluation of the etching area in a real-world IC wafer fabrication system located in Taiwan's Hsinchu Science-Based Industrial Park, To tackle the problem of building a large and complex system model, a synthesis technique is used. The resultant extended net model is checked for important qualitative properties in manufacturing. A simple control policy for deadlock prevention is proposed. To obtain performance measures, simulation is used. The simulation result shows that except a small number of machines, the errors between the simulated and actual utilizations are less than 5%, The validated model can be used to answer many “what-if” questions, such as predicting the maximal throughput and bottleneck machines  相似文献

Between 1989 and 1994, 42 patients with circumferential skin avulsion of lower extremities were treated with full-thickness skin graft from defatted avulsed flap. Among them, 39 patients were run over by rubber tires during car accidents; the remaining 3 patients were victims of industrial accidents by roller machines. The full-thickness skin grafts were prepared from the avulsed skin flap in attachment to avoid junctional hypertrophic scarring. They were then secured with multiple skin staples to their anatomical position to improve skin graft take. Initial take of graft averaged 91 percent (ranged from 75 percent to 100 percent). Twelve patients underwent secondary overgrafting after tangential excision of non-viable skin graft. Follow-up averaging 2.6 years revealed stable wounds in most of the patients. Ten patients experienced occasional breakdown of skin graft in the patella and popliteal fossa, which was treated conservatively. Except for five who had deformed contours of the leg due to muscle transfers, the patients were satisfied with the cosmetic appearance of their legs. Compared with conventional methods, this approach provided better appearance and less contracture.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To examine the relationship between allergy-related symptoms, food intolerance and psychological distress in primary care. METHODS: Two thousand three hundred and thirty two adults in five General Practices in the South of England completed questionnaires regarding allergy-related symptoms and psychological symptoms, but no association was demonstrated between a history of diagnosed or treated asthma, eczema or hay fever and psychological morbidity. Cases of food intolerance had lower levels of psychological distress than expected compared to hospital samples. Current, but not past wheezing and eczema, was associated with an excess of life stresses in the previous six months. CONCLUSIONS: The association between psychological distress and the label of food allergy/intolerance found in specialist care does not extend to primary care.  相似文献

This paper reports on SiGe NPN HBTs with unity gain cutoff frequency (fT) of 207 GHz and an fMAX extrapolated from Mason's unilateral gain of 285 GHz. fMAX extrapolated from maximum available gain is 194 GHz. Transistors sized 0.12×2.5 μm2 have these characteristics at a linear current of 1.0 mA/μm (8.3 mA/μm2). Smaller transistors (0.12×0.5 μm2) have an fT of 180 GHz at 800 μA current. The devices have a pinched base sheet resistance of 2.5 kΩ/sq. and an open-base breakdown voltage BVCEO of 1.7 V. The improved performance is a result of a new self-aligned device structure that minimizes parasitic resistance and capacitance without affecting fT at small lateral dimensions  相似文献
