A space-and-time dependent model describing the impact of heat transfer on insect survival rate was developed for analyzing the heat disinfestation process of dates. A 2D axial-symmetric domain was defined with five sub-domains: the bulk date pulp, a thin air layer and the date pit, a larva (located in the air layer) and eggs (on the date surface). The model included convective heating and microwave heating (915 MHz). Dielectric properties of the date pulp, egg and larvae were measured. The model predictions showed good agreement with experimental results in the case of the “biological model” (Ephestia kuehniella Zeller) in dates subjected to hot air treatment (70 °C). Sensitive analysis showed that the date size and water content greatly affected the heating time process, during hot air and microwave treatments. Moreover, regarding the eggs’ specific surface, it is advisable to combine convective hot air with microwave heating to induce egg mortality on the date surface.  相似文献

According to traditional accounts, France underwent a serious crisis in 1846. Although it has never really been proven, it is held that the crisis was due to an enormous deficit in agricultural production. The study of price fluctuations, where price increases are taken to be proportional to production deficits, has led to the characterization of this crisis as a subsistence crisis. Certain historians have even noted strong demographic repercussions, in particular an increase in mortality. This article proposes to reassess the importance of this crisis. It also re-examines the different economic and demographic variables and the relationships between them at a national and regional level. In fact, as far as the demographics are concerned, this crisis turned out to be of a low magnitude, particularly when compared to the crises resulting from cholera in the 1830s. This first observation leads to an assessment of the real importance of production deficits. Contrary to the famines of the end of the 17th century, this crisis, although labelled a subsistence crisis, is characterized by a rather low deficit in cereal production. Substitutes such as potatoes, buckwheat, maize, and imports limited the effect of the crisis. As far as price increases are concerned, they appear to be non-proportional to production deficits: the two variables are not correlated.  相似文献

This paper reports on a four-year project that aims to raise the abstraction level through the use of model-driven engineering (MDE) techniques in the development of scientific applications relying on high-performance computing. The development and maintenance of high-performance scientific computing software is reputedly a complex task. This complexity results from the frequent evolutions of supercomputers and the tight coupling between software and hardware aspects. Moreover, current parallel programming approaches result in a mixing of concerns within the source code. Our approach relies on the use of MDE and consists in defining domain-specific modeling languages targeting various domain experts involved in the development of HPC applications, allowing each of them to handle their dedicated model in a both user-friendly and hardware-independent way. The different concerns are separated thanks to the use of several models as well as several modeling viewpoints on these models. Depending on the targeted execution platforms, these abstract models are translated into executable implementations by means of model transformations. To make all of these effective, we have developed a tool chain that is also presented in this paper. The approach is assessed through a multi-dimensional validation that focuses on its applicability, its expressiveness and its efficiency. To capitalize on the gained experience, we analyze some lessons learned during this project.  相似文献

Renal ischaemia reperfusion (I/R) triggers a cascade of events including oxidative stress, apoptotic body and microparticle (MP) formation as well as an acute inflammatory process that may contribute to organ failure. Macrophages are recruited to phagocytose cell debris and MPs. The tyrosine kinase receptor MerTK is a major player in the phagocytosis process. Experimental models of renal I/R events are of major importance for identifying I/R key players and for elaborating novel therapeutical approaches. A major aim of our study was to investigate possible involvement of MerTK in renal I/R. We performed our study on both natural mutant rats for MerTK (referred to as RCS) and on wild type rats referred to as WT. I/R was established by of bilateral clamping of the renal pedicles for 30′ followed by three days of reperfusion. Plasma samples were analysed for creatinine, aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), kidney injury molecule -1 (KIM-1), and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) levels and for MPs. Kidney tissue damage and CD68-positive cell requirement were analysed by histochemistry. monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), myeloperoxidase (MPO), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and histone 3A (H3A) levels in kidney tissue lysates were analysed by western blotting. The phagocytic activity of blood-isolated monocytes collected from RCS or WT towards annexin-V positive bodies derived from cultured renal cell was assessed by fluorescence-activated single cell sorting (FACS) and confocal microscopy analyses. The renal I/R model for RCS rat described for the first time here paves the way for further investigations of MerTK-dependent events in renal tissue injury and repair mechanisms.  相似文献

This paper deals with multimedia information access. We propose two new approaches for hybrid text-image information processing that can be straightforwardly generalized to the more general multimodal scenario. Both approaches fall in the trans-media pseudo-relevance feedback category. Our first method proposes using a mixture model of the aggregate components, considering them as a single relevance concept. In our second approach, we define trans-media similarities as an aggregation of monomodal similarities between the elements of the aggregate and the new multimodal object. We also introduce the monomodal similarity measures for text and images that serve as basic components for both proposed trans-media similarities. We show how one can frame a large variety of problem in order to address them with the proposed techniques: image annotation or captioning, text illustration and multimedia retrieval and clustering. Finally, we present how these methods can be integrated in two applications: a travel blog assistant system and a tool for browsing the Wikipedia taking into account the multimedia nature of its content.

The goals of this study were to determine: (i) whether mammals mobilize particular nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA) preferentially during locomotion, (ii) if differences in aerobic capacity or diet can affect the pattern of NEFA mobilization and (iii) which individual NEFA are most representative of total NEFA concentration changes, to use them as tracers for turnover studies. Individual NEFA were measured in trained dogs and goats (VO2max dog/VO2max goat=2.2; where VO2max=max-imal oxygen consumption) during treadmill exercise at 40 and 60% VO2max. Important interspecies differences in individual NEFA concentrations could be attributed to differences in aerobic capacity. The more aerobic species (dog) had much higher plasma NEFA concentrations for all but one NEFA (18∶0), when compared with the low-aerobic species (goat). In addition, exercise caused a large increase in concentration of individual NEFA in the dogs, with the largest increases seen in 18∶1 (150% above resting values) and 16∶0 (60% increase), but it had no effect in goats. Therefore, the aerobic species has a much higher ability for mobilizing and transporting NEFA in plasma than its low-aerobic counterpart. Two NEFA accounted for more than half total plasma NEFA in both species, 18∶1 (about 35% total NEFA) and 16∶0 (20%). Calculation of variability in percent composition reveals that oleate and palmitate also closely reflect changes in total NEFA and are therefore the most appropriate tracers forin vivo kinetic studies in exercising mammals. Differences in diet and digestion physiology explained some differences in the plasma NEFA composition of the two species; this was reflected in the percent contributions of individual fatty acids to total NEFA: in dogs 18∶1>16∶0>18∶2>18∶0, while in goats 18∶1>16∶0>18∶0>18∶2. Also, only goats had 18∶3 (6% total NEFA), a fatty acid of plant origin, while only dogs had 16∶1 (7% total NEFA). Overall, however, the plasma NEFA composition of goats did not exactly reflect that of their diet due to preabsorptive modification of unsaturated fatty acids, while in dogs there was a good correlation between dietary and plasma NEFA.  相似文献

To comply with the new regulations on particulate matter, car manufacturers more and more commonly use diesel particulate filters (DPF). The working of these systems needs to periodically burn soot that has been accumulated during the loading of the DPF. This paper describes the kinetics of the non-catalytic and catalytic oxidation of real diesel soot with oxygen. From these experiments, mechanisms for catalyzed and non-catalyzed soot oxidation have been proposed.  相似文献
