Network and service management has established itself as a research field in the general area of computer networks. However, up to now, no appropriate organization of the field has been carried out in terms of a comprehensive list of terms and topics. In this paper, we introduce a taxonomy for network and service management. With such a taxonomy, it is possible to better understand the landscape of research as well as to reason about possible future challenges and opportunities. As such, in addition to the taxonomy itself, we also present an initial analysis of the field’s past, present, and future, based on the records of papers submitted and accepted in major conferences in the area, as well as a site survey performed through a questionnaire answered by experts from both industry and academia.  相似文献

Based on social role theory and uses and gratifications, this study provides insights into the popularity of so-called pink games. This study is the first to examine the roles of identification, playing time, and age in the experience of motivations while playing an online role-playing game. Drawing upon a survey among 2261 girls between10 and 17 of age, our results show that identification with characters in the game is an important process in explaining girls’ gaming motivations. In addition, identification and motivations are intensified with playing time. Although age affects identification negatively, age is not related to the most important motive in playing pink games: social interaction. This study has important theoretical and practical implications for the popularity of pink games among girls.  相似文献

In this study, the crystallization and melting properties of four different fat blends with the same saturated fat content (30%) but with different ratios of symmetric and asymmetric monounsaturated triacylglycerols were investigated using pNMR, DSC and polarized light microscopy. Blends were either palmitic (P) or stearic (S) based, and were combinations of SatOSat‐rich (Sat = saturated, O = oleic) and SatSatO‐rich vegetable oils with high‐oleic sunflower oil. The DSC results demonstrate that there was almost no difference in crystallization mechanism and crystallization rate between the two P‐based blends. Both blends showed a two‐step crystallization, which can be explained by polymorphism. Stop‐and‐return DSC results suggested an initial crystallization into an unstable polymorph followed by polymorphic transition during the crystallization. For the S‐based blends there was a clear difference between the SOS‐rich and the SSO‐rich blend, with a slower crystallization for the SSO‐rich blend. Possibly, this can be explained by fractional crystallization. The microstructure did not differ greatly between the blends. Directly after crystallization, the crystals of the SSO‐rich blend were slightly larger than the crystals of the SOS‐rich blend.  相似文献

Operational decision-making processes for networked infrastructure management often occur as a multi-actor planning problem, implying these are based on negotiations between different stakeholders in addition to available system quality information. As such, does more accurate data about actual structural condition lead to other or better decision-making? A serious game is introduced, Maintenance in Motion, aiming at investigating the influence of information quality on rehabilitation decisions, for single- and multi-actor decision-making. Players manage drinking water, gas, sewer and street infrastructures. They are to balance their individual goal, cost-effectiveness, with their team utility, increasing overall infrastructure quality to minimise failure while minimising overall public costs. Network markets are characterized by composite goods or services that can be obtained from alternative combinations of basic products. Examples are complex, multistage production and consumption systems, transport and communications. Efficiency in these markets depends on the net effect of the complementary and substitution relationships that exist between elementary products, which are determined by network topology and market structure. This paper examines factors that affect equilibria in network markets by considering a number of simple economic models of network markets. First it is shown how network topology influences profits and welfare under different market regimes. In particular, attention is given to price discrimination in monopolistic networks. Next evolution of networks is examined, which may occur via investment in new links by incumbent firms, or via entry of new firms in the network. It is shown that the number of competitors in equilibrium may not coincide with the socially optimal one, which in turn depends on the network structure. In order to show some concrete implications of the theoretical results two examples are presented, dealing with intermediate factors in an input-output production system, and with the trade-off between network externalities and economies of scale and density in hub-and-spoke transportation networks. We have computed the band broadening and the flow resistance in a series of apparently self-similar porous LC support structures, all having the same mean geometric ratios and external porosity, but with a decreasing scale and disturbed by a scale-independent variance on the size and position of the porous solid zone elements. The study shows in a general and qualitative way that each type of LC support that is produced using a manufacturing process displaying a fixed (i.e., domain-size independent) variance on the size and position of the produced solid zone elements will eventually encounter a limit beyond which a further reduction of the domain size can no longer be expected to yield a significant gain in separation speed. This is currently observed in practice for silica monoliths and could also compromise the performance of photolithographically etched columns.  相似文献

New developments in digital mirror devices (DMDs) require suspension hinges with a good damping and high temperature stability. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) offer these unique properties. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) consist of carbon atoms arranged in sheets of graphene rolled up into cylindrical shapes. This class of nanomaterials has attracted attention because of their extraordinary properties, such as high electrical and thermal conductivity. In addition, development in CNT functionalization chemistry has led to an enhanced dispersibility in aqueous physiological media which indeed broadens the spectrum for their potential biological applications including gene delivery. The aim of this study is to determine the capability of different cationic polymer-grafted multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) (polymer-g-MWNTs) to efficiently complex and transfer plasmid DNA (pCMV-βGal) in vitro without promoting cytotoxicity. Carboxylated MWNT is chemically conjugated to the cationic polymers polyethylenimine (PEI), polyallylamine (PAA), or a mixture of the two polymers. In order to explore the potential of these polymer-g-MWNTs as gene delivery systems, we first study their capacity to complex plasmid DNA (pDNA) using agarose gel electrophoresis. Gel migration studies confirm pDNA binding to polymer-g-MWNT with different affinities, highest for PEI-g-MWNT and PEI/PAA-g-CNT constructs. β-galactosidase expression is assessed in human lung epithelial (A549) cells, and the cytotoxicity is determined by modified LDH assay after 24 h incubation period. Additionally, PEI-g-MWNT and/or PEI/PAA-g-MWNT reveal an improvement in gene expression when compared to the naked pDNA or to the equivalent amounts of PEI polymer alone. Mechanistically, pDNA was delivered by the polymer-g-MWNT constructs via a different pathway compared to those used by polyplexes. In conclusion, polymer-g-MWNTs may be considered in the future as a versatile tool for efficient gene transfer in cancer cells in vitro, provided their toxicological profile is established.  相似文献

This work presents the simultaneous online determination of the isotopic composition of different Hg species in a single sample by the hyphenation of gas chromatography (GC) with multicollector-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICPMS). With the use of commercially available instrumentation, precise and accurate species-specific Hg isotope delta values (per mil deviation of the Hg isotope ratio in the sample relative to a reference standard) have been obtained online from consecutive GC transient signals. The use of isothermal temperature programs to extend the elution of the Hg species, the proper selection of the peak integration window, as well as the preconcentration of real samples are critical to provide optimal counting statistics. Also, isotope ratio drift during transient signal elution was overcome by introducing a mixed Hg(II) and MeHg standard bracketing scheme and expressing all results using the delta-notation relative to SRM NIST-3133. Using the proposed methodology, we have obtained an external 2SD precision of 0.56 per thousand for delta (202)Hg that is more than 10 times smaller than the overall Hg stable isotope variation thus far observed in terrestrial samples. The measurement of species-specific Hg isotopic composition relative to SRM NIST-3133 has been validated versus two other analytical techniques, i.e., conventional nebulization (CN) of Hg(II) solution and cold vapor (CV) generation of Hg (0) vapor. A good agreement between the species-specific delta values obtained by the different techniques has been obtained in secondary fractionated reference standard (UM-Almaden) and environmental matrixes, i.e., BCR-CRM 464 (tuna fish) and IAEA-085 (human hair). The results show mass-dependent and mass-independent fractionation in environmental samples, i.e., mass-independent fractionation of odd isotopes (199)Hg and (201)Hg in tuna fish was observed. This methodology provides new possibilities for the future study of species-specific stable isotope geochemistry of Hg and other trace metals.  相似文献
