GaInP, an essential material for multijunction structures of III–V compounds for solar cells, can achieve better photovoltaic responses when grown on (111)GaAs faces, due to the large internal electric fields generated by the off-diagonal strain. In this work, we explored metalorganic chemical vapor deposition growth of GaInP layers on (001)-, (111)Ga-, and (111)As-GaAs substrates, using different phosphine flow rates. The structural and optical properties of the layers have been studied by micro-Raman spectroscopy, microphotoluminescence, and cathodoluminescence. Problems such as composition control, growth rate, and the presence of ordered phases are addressed.  相似文献

Renewable‐based lubricants are being considered as potential alternatives to petroleum‐based lubricants for various reasons, mainly increased environmental sensitivity. However, understanding the tribological performance of such vegetable‐based lubricants under elevated temperatures is critical for their industrial implementation. This study focuses on the friction and abrasion rate characteristics of soybean and sunflower base oils in comparison to a base mineral oil under sliding wear at elevated temperatures. It was found that the abrasion rate and friction were less severe for the vegetable‐based lubricants up to temperatures around 100°C. The observed performance of the vegetable‐based lubricants was verified using a kinetic reaction mechanism model of lubricant degradation. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The particle formation and emission in the combustion of pulverized olive residue (orujillo) is studied in this work. The fuel has been burned in controlled combustion conditions in an entrained flow reactor. A bimodal distribution with mode peaks at 155 nm and 110 μm is found for fly ashes. Coarse particles have been characterized by laser diffractometry and SEM, while fines have been analyzed by low-pressure impaction, DMA, SEM, and X-ray diffraction. Particles with Dp < 1 μm are composed of only K2SO4 and KCl in the same mass proportion, and possibly K3PO4 (less than 7% in mass). The use of a new particle sampling probe and a TEM allowed a detailed study of the formation of these particles when flue gases cool down. K2SO4 is experimentally found to start nucleation over 900°C, while KCl is not observed at this temperature. Condensation of KCl on these nuclei is observed in a sample taken at 560°C. These “formation steps” are in good agreement with both theoretical calculations by other authors and a simple equilibrium schema shown here.  相似文献

Epoxidized 10-undecenoic acid triglyceride, an experimental seed oil derivative that has a terminal epoxy group on each of the three acyl glyceride segments, has been found to have good reactivity with amine curatives and allows room temperature cures to be obtained. Coatings based on epoxidized 10-undercenoic acid triglyceride have also shown excellent UV stability. As an example, coatings samples placed in a QUVA chamber exhibit no loss in gloss after 3000 hr of a cycled exposure to high intensity UV lamps and moisture at temperatures of 50–60°C. In comparison, coatings based on standard liquid epoxy resins (LERs) and commercially available hydrogenated LERs lose gloss due to chalking/decomposition within 200–800 hr. Biomass is being generated in vast amounts from oil palm plantations particularly in developing countries such as Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Oil palm stone (OPS) is currently considered a waste material and has not previously been considered for energy purposes. The main objective of this study was to investigate the thermochemical conversion of OPS in a pilot-scale fluidised bed combustor. The net heating value of OPS was 24.93 MJ/kg. The effect of primary air flowrate and initial bed temperature were the main parameters investigated. The bed and bed's surface temperature were found to decrease as the primary air flowrate increased. In all tests CO emissions were less than 0.2%. The emissions of SO2 and HCl ranged from 0.02 ppm to 0.05 ppm, significantly below the permitted levels set by legislation. Stable combustion was observed at a bed temperature of 950 °C. The most abundant elements found in the ash were Al, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, P, S and Si. However, due to the temperature regime used in the study fouling would not be an issue.  相似文献

A surface plasmon resonance (SPR) scheme is proposed in which the local phase modulations of the coupled plasmons can interfere and yield phase-sensitive intensity modulations in the measured signal. The result is an increased traceability of the SPR shifts for biosensing applications. The main system limitation is the propagation distance of the coupled plasmon modes. This aspect is therefore studied for thin film microstructures operating in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions. The surface roughness of the substrate layer is examined for different dielectrics and deposition methods. The Au layer, on which the plasmonic modes are propagating and the biosensing occurs, is also examined. The surface roughness and dielectric values for various deposition rates of very thin Au films are measured. We also investigate an interferometric SPR setup where, due to the power flux transfer between plasmon modes, the specific choice of grating coupler can either decrease or increase the plasmon propagation length.  相似文献

Epidemiological studies suggest that consumption of fruit rich in phenolic compounds is associated with health-protective effects due to their antioxidant properties. For these reasons quality evaluation has become an important issue in fruit industry and in breeding programs. Phytochemical traits such as total phenolics, flavonoids, anthocyanins, L-ascorbic acid, sugar content and relative antioxidant capacity (RAC) were analyzed over four years in flesh fruit of an F1 population "Venus" × "Big Top" nectarines. Other traits such as harvesting date, yield, fruit weight, firmness, soluble solids concentration (SSC), pH, titratable acidity (TA) and ripening index (RI) were also determined in the progeny. Results showed high variability among genotypes for all analyzed traits. Total phenolics and flavonoids showed significant positive correlations with RAC implying that both are important antioxidant bioactive compounds in peaches. We found genotypes with enhanced antioxidant capacity and a better performance than progenitors, and in consequence the best marketability.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the proximal composition, lipids and cholesterol content of meat from pigs fed diets with peach-palm meal (PPM), with or without addition of synthetic lysine (LYS). In experiment 1, 24 pigs were randomly allotted into six treatments with three levels of PPM (0.16 and 32%) and two levels of LYS (0 and 0.27%). In experiment II, 16 finishing pigs were fed with two levels of PPM (0 and 17.50%) and two levels of LYS (0 and 0.27%). At the end of each experiment (42 and 35 d, respectively), pigs were slaughtered and loin samples were obtained to determine crude protein, dry matter, moisture, ash, total lipids, and cholesterol content. In experiment I, pork loin from 16% PPM had more dry matter (26.45 g/100 g) and less moisture (73.49 g/100g) than pork loin from 32% PPM (25.11 y 75.03 g/100g, respectively). Meat samples from pigs without LYS had higher (p < 0.05) content of lipids (2.11 g/100 g) than meat from pigs that consumed LYS (1.72 g/100 g). In experiment II, the proximal, lipids and cholesterol content were similar among treatments. The PPM addition to pig diets did not affect the proximal composition of pork, while LYS addition indicated a reduction of total lipids, which could result as an alternative to obtain leaner meat.  相似文献
