Smart Clothing Prototype for the Arctic Environment   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Continuous miniaturisation of electronic components has made it possible to create smaller and smaller electrical devices which can be worn and carried all the time. Together with developing fibre and textile technologies, this has enabled the creation of truly usable smart clothes that resemble clothes more than wearable computing equipment. These intelligent clothes are worn like ordinary clothing and provide help in various situations according to the application area. This paper describes the design and implementation of a survival smart clothing prototype for the arctic environment. Concept development, electrical design, and non-electrical features are discussed. The suit provides communication, positioning, and navigation aids for the user. Depending on the measurements of the human and the environment, the suit decides whether an emergency message should be sent. The user can control the system with a user interface called a Yo-Yo. The functionality of the suit has been tested in an arctic environment.  相似文献

A total of 24 pilots viewed dynamic encounters between their own aircraft and an intruder aircraft on a 2-D cockpit display of traffic information (CDTI) and estimated the point and time of closest approach. A three-level alerting system provided a correct categorical estimate of the projected miss distance on 83% of the trials. The remaining 17% of alerts were equally divided between misses and false alarms, of large and small magnitude. Roughly half the pilots depended on automation to improve estimation of miss distance relative to the baseline pilots, who viewed identical trials without the aid of automated alerts. Moreover, they did so more on the more difficult traffic trials resulting in improved performance on the 83% correct automation trials without causing harm on the 17% automation-error trials, compared to the baseline group. The automated alerts appeared to lead pilots to inspect the raw data more closely. While assisting the accurate prediction of miss distance, the automation led to an underestimate of the time remaining until the point of closest approach. The results point to the benefits of even imperfect automation in the strategic alerts characteristic of the CDTI, at least as long as this reliability remains high (above 80%).  相似文献

The purpose of the study was to examine the development of students’ high-level computer skills and competence (student expertise) in information and communication technology (ICT), and to examine the characteristics of such expertise. Eighteen lower secondary school students, selected to represent both genders and all school achievement levels, were given laptops for three years to be used both at school and at home. The data of the longitudinal study consisted of a test on ICT skills; self-evaluation questionnaires on ICT competence, thoughts about their own expertise, ICT-related activities and task, interest in ICT, and classroom observations. The results of the study indicated that the intensive use of ICT and the process-oriented learning environment supported the development of student expertise. In the analysis, three groups were identified, which oriented themselves somewhat differently in relation to ICT: student experts (n = 6), advanced users (n = 8) and non-interested users (n = 4). The experts differed from the other groups in respect of especially focusing on advancing their ICT skills; they had undertaken ICT-related tasks outside the school, they had metacognitive consciousness about their competence, and they had future plans concerning ICT in their further education and profession.  相似文献

High shear granulation is a complex unit operation with several interacting process parameters. No generally accepted real-time in-line tools are available to gain insight into this process, and in practice, a highly experienced process formulator and operator are needed to develop a wet granulated solid dosage form. In this study, the use of in-line near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy as a process analytical tool for high shear granulation was investigated. In combination with principal component-based methods, process analysis of three separate phases of high shear wet granulation (mixing, spraying, and wet massing) was facilitated. Critical information, both chemical and physical, was collected during processing. Chemical information included the homogeneity of the formulation and the amount of water in wet mass. In addition, physical information related to the particle size of granules was extracted. Principal component loadings were fully interpreted to validate the conclusions drawn from scores and predictions. Thus NIR spectroscopy could be used to determine the end points of the three subphases of high shear wet granulation and, as such, provide a fast in-line quality control tool.  相似文献

The main goal of this paper is to study the feasibility of a novel implantable micro-system able to record information about tendon sliding movements by using contactless measurement devices (magnetic sources and sensors). The system, named "Biomechatronic Position Transducer" (BPT), can be used for the implementation of advanced control strategies in neuroprostheses. After a preliminary analysis based on finite element model simulations, an experimental setup was developed in order to simulate the recording conditions (the sensors fixed to the bones and the magnetic sources placed on the tendons). In order to limit the number of implanted components of the system, a fuzzy Mamdani-like architecture was developed to extract the information from the raw data. The results confirm the possibility of using the presented approach for developing an implantable micro-sensor able to extract kinematic information useful for the control of neuroprostheses. Future works will go in the direction of integrating and testing the sensors and the electronic circuitry (to provide power supply and to record the data) during in vitro and in situ experiments.  相似文献

Different spectroscopic approaches have proved to be excellent analytical tools for monitoring process-induced transformations of active pharmaceutical ingredients during pharmaceutical unit operations. In order to use these tools effectively, it is necessary to build calibration models that describe the relationship between the amount of each solid-state form of interest and the spectroscopic signal. In this study, near-infrared (NIR) and Raman spectroscopic methods have been evaluated for the quantification of hydrate and anhydrate forms in pharmaceutical powders. Process type spectrometers were used to collect the data and the role of the sampling procedure was examined. Multivariate regression models were compared with traditional univariate calibrations and special emphasis was placed on data treatment prior to multivariate modeling by partial least squares (PLS). It was found that the measured sample volume greatly affected the performance of the model whereby the calibrations were significantly improved by utilizing a larger sampling area. In addition, multivariate regression did not always improve the predictability of the data compared to univariate analysis. The data treatment prior to multivariate modeling had a significant influence on the quality of predictions with standard normal variate transformation generally proving to be the best preprocessing method. When the appropriate sampling techniques and data analysis methods were utilized, both NIR and Raman spectroscopy were found to be suitable methods for the quantification of anhydrate/hydrate in powder systems, and thus the method of choice will depend on the conditions in the process under investigation.  相似文献

Results of comparisons of a laser interferometric oil manometer developed at the Mendeleev Institute (VNIIM), which reproduces the unit of pressure over the range 1–1000 Pa, with the national standards at the Metrology and Accreditation Center of Finland (MIKES) are described. The comparisons confirm the metrological characteristics of the VNIIM manometer and show that the size of the pressure unit reproduced by it agrees with the Finnish national standard.  相似文献

In fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based assays, spectral separation of acceptor emission from donor emission is a common problem affecting the assay sensitivity. The challenge derives from small Stokes shifts characteristic to conventional fluorescent dyes resulting in leakage of donor emission to the measurement window intended only to collect the acceptor emission. We have studied a FRET-based homogeneous bioaffinity assay utilizing a tandem dye acceptor with a large pseudo-Stokes shift (139 nm). The tandem dye was constructed using B-phycoerythrin as an absorber and multiple Alexa Fluor 680 dyes as emitters. As a donor, we employed upconverting phosphor particles, which uniquely emit at visible wavelengths under low-energy infrared excitation enabling the fluorescence measurements free from autofluorescence even without time-resolved detection. With the tandem dye, it was possible to achieve four times higher signal from a single binding event compared to the conventional Alexa Fluor 680 dye alone. Tandem dyes are widely used in cytometry and other multiplex purposes, but their applications can be expanded to fluorescence-based homogeneous assays. Both the optimal excitation and emission wavelengths of tandem dye can be tuned to a desired region by choosing appropriate fluorophores enabling specifically designed acceptor dyes with large Stokes shift.  相似文献
