This paper presents experimental evidence that it is possible to use a cathodic charge to store hydrogen on compounds such as LaNi5. Using an alkaline medium (KOH 5N) in an unpressurized system at 20°C, the mass capacity was found to be approximately 330 mAH/g (5H/mol LaNi5). Comparison of these results with the solid-gas isotherms indicated that the hydrogen is held in a non-equilibrium state.The influence of temperature, stoichiometry and substitution in the LaNi5 on the capacity are presented.  相似文献

Kinetic rules of formation and decomposition of the hydrides derived from LaNi5-type compounds are determined. Comparison between LaNi5H6 and more stable hydrides such as LaNi5-χMχ (with M = Al, Cu, Ti) is made in terms of pressure, number and time of cycles. Measurements are performed by a differential volumetric device functioning under constant pressure, during hydrogen absorption and desorption. The influence on the kinetics and hydrogen capacities of the gaseous impurities contained in industrial hydrogen (H2O, CO2, CH4) is studied as a function of the number of cycles. It shows a good resistance to poisoning of the above mentioned compounds.  相似文献

The reproductive behaviors of the stink bugs Chlorochroa ligata and C. uhleri were studied in the laboratory. Adults of both species became sexually mature about 12–14 days after the final molt, and both sexes mated multiple times during their lifetimes. The mean duration of copulation was 54 ± 24 min for virgin bugs and 46 ± 33 min for experienced bugs for C. ligata and 78 ± 55 min for field-collected C. uhleri of unknown mating status. Male C. ligata were found to transfer a significant fraction of their body mass (19%) to females during mating. Sexually mature C. uhleri males produced three sex-specific compounds, methyl (R)-3-(E)-6-2,3-dihydrofarnesoate, methyl (2E,6E)-farnesoate, and methyl (E)-5-2,6,10-trimethyl-5,9-undecadienoate, in a ratio of 100:0.9:0.6. These three compounds were also produced by sexually mature male C. ligata in a ratio of 100:0.5:0.4. Identifications of the compounds were confirmed by synthesis. Production of the male-specific compounds peaked in late afternoon to early evening, coincident with the peak period of reproductive activity. Laboratory and field bioassays demonstrated that female bugs were attracted to odors from live males and to reconstructed blends of the male-specific compounds.  相似文献

Sexually mature virgin adult males of the green stink bug, Acrosternum hilare attracted sexually mature virgin adult females in laboratory bioassays using a vertical Y-tube. There was no indication that males attracted other males, or that females attracted either sex. These results suggested that A. hilare males produce a sex pheromone. Extracts of odors collected from sexually mature males contained compounds that were not present in extracts from females or sexually immature males. (4S)-Cis-(Z)-bisabolene epoxide ((4S)-cis-Z-BAE) was the major sex-specific component of the extract. The crude extract was attractive to female A. hilare, but when separated into four fractions, only the portion containing (4S)-cis-Z-BAE and the minor component (4S)-trans-Z-BAE was attractive to females. This fraction was as attractive as the crude extract, suggesting that the former contained all the pheromone components. Neither synthetic (4S)-cis-Z-BAE nor (4S)-trans-Z-BAE alone was attractive to females, but a 95:5 cis:trans blend, mimicing the ratio naturally produced by males, was attractive to females in Y-tube bioassays. Bioassays in a field cage showed that significantly more A. hilare females were attracted to cotton string lures treated with 1 mg of a 95:5 blend of (4S)-cis-Z-BAE and (4S)-trans-Z-BAE placed inside a bouquet of alfalfa than to an alfalfa bouquet containing a pentane-treated control. In field cage studies, attraction of females was greatest during the late afternoon and evening hours, and female A. hilare approached the synthetic pheromone source almost exclusively by walking.  相似文献

This paper deals with the thermal degradation of fir wood in a cone calorimeter under well‐ventilated atmosphere used with a piloted ignition. The thermal and chemical sample decompositions were studied with heat fluxes varying from 15 to 60 kW m?2. With the cone calorimeter results and equations found in literature, the significant parameters of fir wood sample flammability and combustibility were deduced from ignition time (tig), mass loss and gas analysis. These parameters are thermal response parameter, critical heat flux, ignition surface temperature, thermal thickness, mass loss rate, thermal inertia, effective heat of combustion, heat release rate, heat of gasification and others. Moreover, during each experiment, the main gaseous species emissions were continuously and simultaneously monitored. Furthermore, the solid degradation and combustion process for fir wood were described in details. Experimental results from cone calorimeter were compared with data found in literature, and generally, a quite good accordance was found between the both sets of results. The thermal degradation of epoxy resin/carbon fiber composites has been performed in ISO 5660 standard cone calorimeter using a piloted ignition. Two kinds of composites that differ by their volume fractions in carbon fiber (56 and 59 vol.%) were tested in this study. The cone calorimeter irradiance level was increased up to 75 kW m?2 to characterize the carbon fiber volume fraction influence on the composite thermal degradation. Thus, main flammability and combustibility parameters were determined and calculated such as mass loss, mass loss rate, ignition time, thermal response parameter, ignition temperature, thermal inertia, and heat of gasification. As a result, all the characteristic parameters for the thermal resistance of composites were decreased when the carbon fiber volume fraction increased. Moreover, the main gaseous products (such as NO, CO, CO2, HCN, H2O, and lightweight hydrocarbons) emitted as well as the oxygen consumption during the composite thermal decomposition were also quantified simultaneously with a portable gas analyzer and a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. The main species emission yields calculated from the gas analysis results increased slightly when the carbon fiber volume fraction was increased in the initial sample. The epoxy composite was represented as a sooty material with a significant production of soot particles during the combustion process. Furthermore, heat release rate, total heat release, and effective heat of combustion were calculated by using the oxygen consumption calorimetry technique. The results obtained showed that a small increasing of composite carbon fiber amount induced a sharp decrease of heat release rate and total heat release. Traditionally on slaughter floors operator knives are cleaned by rinsing in hand wash water at 20-40 degrees C followed by brief immersion in baths termed "sterilisers" which contain water no cooler than 82 degrees C. Under Australian legislation, both domestic and export, it is possible for a meat processing establishment to apply to the Controlling Authority for permission to implement an alternative procedure providing that it is at least the equivalent of that legislated. No firm evidence appears to exist for the 82 degrees C requirement and the possibility of replacing this element of the knife cleaning procedure with an alternative procedure using 60 degrees C water and a longer immersion time was investigated at an abattoir slaughtering cattle and sheep. Knives were tested at a range of work stations located along beef and mutton slaughter floors for Aerobic Plate Counts (APCs) and E. coli. For knives used on the beef chain the mean log APC/cm(2) was 2.18 by the current knife cleaning process and 1.78 by the alternate procedure (P<0.001). Using the current system E. coli was isolated from cleaned knives on 20/230 (8.7%) occasions compared with 21/230 (9.1%) occasions using the alternative system. The mean log E. coli of positive knives was 0.43/cm(2) and 0.61/cm(2) from the current and alternative systems, respectively. On the mutton chain the mean log APC/cm(2) was 1.95 using the current knife cleaning process and 1.69 by the alternative procedure (P=0.014). Using the current system E. coli was isolated from cleaned knives on 24/130 (18.5%) occasions compared with 29/130 (22.3%) occasions using the alternative system. The mean log E. coli of positive knives was 0.90/cm(2) and 0.76/cm(2) from the current and alternative systems, respectively. It is concluded that using two knives alternatively, rinsing them in hand wash water, then immersing them between uses in 60 degrees C water provides a microbiological outcome equivalent to rinsing them and momentary dipping in 82 degrees C water.  相似文献

We isolated and identified (12Z,15Z)-1-acetoxy-2-hydroxy-4-oxoheneicosa-12,15-diene (persin) from avocado as a compound toxic to Spodoptera exigua larvae. Persin was obtained from oil extracted from the specialized idioblast cells of avocado fruit. When tested for activity using neonates in no-choice artificial diet bioassays, persin at concentrations of 200 μg/g inhibited growth; larvae gained only ~50% of the weight attained by control insects after seven days. At concentrations of 400 μg/g or above, larval growth was reduced by >70% as measured by weight gain, and significant mortality occurred. In choice tests, persin at concentrations of 400 μg/g or higher deterred feeding, with significantly more larvae being found on control diet than on persin-treated diet. Possible applications of persin as a natural insecticide are discussed.  相似文献
