This study examined premature termination from couples' group treatment for panic disorder with agoraphobia. Patients were classified as either treatment noncompleters or treatment completers. Comparisons of pretreatment self-report and clinician-rated measures of anxiety and depression indicated no differences between groups. On communication measures, however, partners of noncompleters rated themselves as less communicative about panic-related issues. Of noncompleters, the majority reported "getting to treatment sessions" as problematic and indicated dissatisfaction with the cognitive-behavioral treatment approach. Various definitions exist for what constitutes family therapy. In this article, we consider family therapy to encompass any intervention that targets family interactions and conceptualizes problems as existing beyond individual clients. Numerous individual studies and several quantitative reviews have established family therapy as an effective treatment modality and the treatment of choice for many disorders. However, critiques of existing service provision highlight the unfortunate fact that numerous barriers to treatment exist at multiple levels of the broader ecology, preventing many families from benefiting from these services. Random effects models were used to examine the association between behavioral disturbances in persons with Alzheimer's disease (N = 90) and caregiver depressive symptoms at 2-month intervals over an 18-month period. There was substantial variability in trajectories of change in caregiver depressive symptoms over time but no systematic increase in distress despite increased severity of dementia symptoms. Total behavioral disturbances were associated with higher levels of caregiver depressive symptoms: this effect was primarily attributable to aggressive behaviors. Development in sensitive watersheds continues to pose environmental problems for receiving waters. One contributor to this long-term pollution is building and other construction materials. However, the long-term effect of many building materials on the environment has not been quantified due to limited testing of these materials prior to sales and installation. Laboratory “leach” testing of commercially available roofing materials by this research group indicated that the potential for release (primarily nutrients, lighter hydrocarbons, pesticides, and metals) is substantial. Testing of metals’ release from aged roofing panels also has shown that the potential for pollutant release still exists after 60?years. The data missing from a complete evaluation of many roofing materials is behavior over the lifespan of the material, including the critical period of initial exposure. The 2?years of runoff data from a pilot-scale testing of these materials indicated substantial concerns regarding zinc from uncoated galvanized metals and copper from treated woods in this early part of the materials’ lifespan, plus the potential for long-term nutrient releases in the runoff from several roofing types.  相似文献

This study compared weight control strategies during the winter holidays among successful weight losers (SWL) in the National Weight Control Registry and normal weight individuals (NW) with no history of obesity. SWL (n = 178) had lost a mean of 34.9 kg and had kept ≥13.6 kg off for a mean of 5.9 years. NW (n = 101) had a body mass index of 18.5-24.9 kg/m2. More SWL than NW reported plans to be extremely strict in maintaining their usual dietary routine (27.3% vs. 0%) and exercise routine (59.1% vs. 14.3%) over the holidays. Main effects for group indicated that SWL maintained greater exercise, greater attention to weight and eating, greater stimulus control, and greater dietary restraint, both before and during the holidays. A Group × Time interaction indicated that, over the holidays, attention to weight and eating declined significantly more in SW than in NW. More SWL (38.9%) than NW (16.7%) gained ≥1 kg over the holidays, and this effect persisted 1 month later (28.3% and 10.7%, respectively). In flip chip applications, Cu pillars with solder caps are regarded as next-generation electronic interconnection technology, because of high input/output density. However, because of diffusion and reaction of Sn and Cu during the high-temperature reflow process, intermetallic compounds (IMC) are formed, and grow, at the interface between the cap and the pillar. Understanding the growth behavior of interfacial IMC is critical in the design of solder interconnections, because excessive growth of IMC can reduce the reliability of connections. In this study, the growth of IMC during thermal cycling, an accelerated method of testing the service environment of electronic devices, was studied by use of focused ion beam–scanning electron microscopy. Under alternating high and low-temperature extremes, growth of Cu6Sn5 (η-phase) and Cu3Sn (ε-phase) IMC was imaged and measured as a function of the number of cycles. The total IMC layer grew significantly thicker but became more uniform during thermal cycling. The Cu3Sn layer was initially thinner than the Cu6Sn5 layer but outgrew the Cu6Sn5 layer after 1000 cycles. It was found that, with limited Cu and Sn diffusion, consumption of Cu6Sn5 for growth of the Cu3Sn layer can result in a thinner Cu6Sn5 layer after thermal cycling.  相似文献

A novel method is introduced for the generation of landmarks for three-dimensional (3-D) shapes and the construction of the corresponding 3-D statistical shape models. Automatic landmarking of a set of manual segmentations from a class of shapes is achieved by 1) construction of an atlas of the class, 2) automatic extraction of the landmarks from the atlas, and 3) subsequent propagation of these landmarks to each example shape via a volumetric nonrigid registration technique using multiresolution B-spline deformations. This approach presents some advantages over previously published methods: it can treat multiple-part structures and requires less restrictive assumptions on the structure's topology. In this paper, we address the problem of building a 3-D statistical shape model of the left and right ventricle of the heart from 3-D magnetic resonance images. The average accuracy in landmark propagation is shown to be below 2.2 mm. This application demonstrates the robustness and accuracy of the method in the presence of large shape variability and multiple objects.  相似文献

This study presents two routes to produce amorphous silica from an Egyptian rice husk under conditions optimized for least environmental impact and low cost. The first route includes thoroughly washing of the husk sample with water, dry milling and leaching with citric acid. The leaching process was applied in two stages, that is, at 323 K for 180 min and then at 353 K for 60 min. After washing and drying, the leached sample was subjected to a heat treatment in a muffles furnace at four sequential steps. The second route includes all the previously mentioned steps, except the citric acid leaching. The final products were characterized using x-ray fluorescence analysis, carbon content analysis, x-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis, nitrogen adsorption, mercury intrusion, and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the citric acid leaching has many advantages with respect to silica yield and porosity as well.  相似文献
