In the electroless plating process, to omit a sensitizing process with SnCl2, we utilized amino‐functional groups on polymer particles. At first, highly monodisperse functional polymer particles could be prepared by a two‐step seeded polymerization of styrene, divinylbenzene, and glycidyl methacrylate. Then, surface epoxy‐functional groups were converted to amino‐functional groups by treating the particles with a diamine. By using these surface amino functionalities, we tried to prepare uniformly metal‐coated monodisperse polymer particles by electroless plating method. The constituents of an electroless nickel solution bath are nickel salt, a reducing agent, suitable complexing agents, and stabilizers. And the metal thickness was simply controlled by changing the loading amount of substrate polymer particles. Morphological observation of nickel‐plated polymer particles was conducted by using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The structural composition of plated nickel was also investigated. Most of all, the function and the efficiency of the amino‐functional group of polymer particles as a polymeric ligand for metal binding was elucidated. From all observations, it was evident that in the electroless metal plating process without any sensitization step, the deposition of metal clusters on substrate particles is largely dependent upon the particle surface functionality. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two new poly(arylene ethynylenes) were synthesized by the reaction of 1,4‐diethynyl‐2.5‐dioctylbenzene either with 4,4′‐diiodo‐3,3′‐dimethyl‐1,1′‐biphenyl or 2,7‐diiodo‐9,9‐dioctylfluorene via the Sonogashira reaction, and their photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) properties were studied. The new poly(arylene ethynylenes) were poly[(3,3′‐dimethyl‐1,1′‐biphenyl‐4,4′‐diyl)‐1,2‐ethynediyl‐(2,5‐dioctyl‐1,4‐phenylene)‐1,2‐ethynediyl] (PPEBE) and poly[(9,9‐dioctylfluorene‐2,7‐diyl)‐1,2‐ethynediyl‐(2,5‐dioctyl‐1,4‐phenylene)‐1,2‐ethynediyl] (PPEFE), both of which were blue‐light emitters. PPEBE not only emitted better blue light than PPEFE, but it also performed better in EL than the latter when the light‐emitting diode devices were constructed with the configuration indium–tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(styrenesulfonic acid) (50 nm)/polymer (80 nm)/Ca:Al. The device constructed with PPEBE exhibited an external quantum efficiency of 0.29 cd/A and a maximum brightness of about 560 cd/m2, with its EL spectrum showing emitting light maxima at λ = 445 and 472 nm. The device with PPEFE exhibited an efficiency of 0.10 cd/A and a maximum brightness of about 270 cd/m2, with its EL spectrum showing an emitting light maximum at λ = 473 nm. Hole mobility (μh) and electron mobility (μe) of the polymers were determined by the time‐of‐flight method. Both polymers showed faster μh values. PPEBE revealed a μh of 2.0 × 10?4 cm2/V·s at an electric field of 1.9 × 105 V/cm and a μe of 7.0 × 10?5 cm2/V·s at an electric field of 1.9 × 105 V/cm. In contrast, the mobilities of the both carriers were slower for PPEFE, and its μh (8.0 × 10?6 cm2/V·s at an electric field of 1.7 × 106 V/cm) was 120 times its μe (6.5 × 10?8 cm2/V·s at an electric field of 8.6 × 105 V/cm). The much better balance in the carriers' mobilities appeared to be the major reason for the better device performance of PPEBE than PPEFE. Their highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels were also a little different from each other. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A thermally cured epoxy‐siloxane hybrid material that is curable at low temperature (L‐expoxy hybrimer) was investigated for use as an LED encapsulant. This new hybrimer was fabricated using thermally initiated, cationic polymerization of cycloaliphatic epoxy oligosiloxane (CAEO) resin, derived from non‐hydrolytic sol – gel, mixed with oxetane hardener in the presence of a hexafluoroantimonate‐type thermo‐cationic initiator. The L‐epoxy hybrimer was cured at a lower temperature (below 120 ° C) than previously reported for an epoxy hybrimer with anhydride hardener (above 180 ° C). The L‐epoxy hybrimer showed high thermal resistance to yellowing under long‐term high temperature condition, and maintained good optical transmittance. Also, it had a high refractive index (up to 1.57), as well as the hardness (Shore D 80), and low water‐vapor permeability, w hen the new hybrimer was used to encapsulate an LED, it showed good adhesion without cracks or delamination and maintained their initial performance after the long‐term aging tests (120 and 85 ° C at 85% humidity). © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thermal stabilities and flame retardancies of phloroglucinol‐based organo phosphates when applied to polycarbonate

A series of organo phosphorus flame retardants (FRs) based on aromatic phosphate and cyclic phosphate were synthesized in an attempt to develop an efficient FR for polycarbonate. Their successful synthesis was confirmed by FT‐IR and 1 H and 31P NMR. Their thermal stability and flame retarding efficiency as a single‐component additive were investigated and compared with the commercial FR, resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate). The thermogravimetric analysis results revealed that the aromatic phosphate synthesized in this study, phloroglucinol diphenyl phosphate (PDP), shows a higher thermal degradation temperature and better flame retardancy even though it has a lower P content than cyclic phosphate‐based FRs. The flame retarding efficiency was evaluated by the UL‐94 test method. The V‐0 rating was achieved at a PDP loading of 2 wt% in polycarbonate in the presence of an anti‐dripping agent (1 wt%), which is better than that of resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate) and cyclic phosphate‐based FRs. The high thermal stability and P–OH generation tendency is responsible for the better flame‐retarding performance of PDP. The degradation path of PDP is also discussed. It has become known that the most effective methodology for green power plant systems is to increase the generating efficiency of steam power plants. Among the materials developed to improve the performance, it is known that the most practical and applicable materials are Ni-based Alloys. However, it is necessary to first guarantee mechanical reliability of the weld for applying these Ni-based Alloys. In this study, firstly, the fatigue strength of multi-pass welded Ni-based Alloy 617 in as-welded and post weld heat-treated conditions were assessed. And then the crack growth characteristics at the low fatigue limit of them were assessed. From the results, fatigue strength of the welds those were post weld heat treated did not show large difference compare to not heat-treated ones. These results mean that the weld of Ni-based Alloy 617 is not influenced remarkably by post weld heat treatment in the metallurgical and mechanical changes. However, it was found that the fatigue crack grew at the low fatigue limit, which was about 48.4% (327 MPa) of the static tensile strength (675.1 MPa) of the weld, and 43.1% of the base material (759.4 MPa). 相似文献

In this paper, we examine the preventive maintenance policies for systems/items which are degraded continuously in time and the degree of deterioration that can be observed through periodic inspection. The items will be replaced preventively if the wear process exceeds a limit at periodic inspection or replaced immediately on failure. The limit is assumed to be random in taking individual variation to withstand damages or unmeasurable variables latent to failure into account. Continuous wear process is modeled via a gamma process. We derive an optimal wear limit for preventive replacement so that the long-run total expected cost per unit time is minimized. This study measured and estimated the subway vent shaft air flow rate induced by moving trains in the tunnel. This work estimated the flow rate via the tunnel structure and train movement to determine the quantitative effect of vent shafts as air purification systems of natural ventilation to improve the air quality management of a subway. The amount of air suctioned into the tunnel is significantly larger than that vented from the tunnel. Thus, placing vent shafts near subway stations is desirable for natural ventilation systems. Experimental approaches to measure train-induced flow rates have not yet been published. Results of this study provide useful fundamental data to study the natural ventilation in a subway. Therefore, this study suggested the significant design factors required to control indoor air quality in a subway. 相似文献

This work was to prepare the diamond reinforced Cu54Ni6Zr22Ti18 bulk metallic glass matrix composites using Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) process. The effect of mixing methods such as mechanical alloying (MA), and turbula mixing–dry mixing (DM) and wet mixing (WM) on the uniformity of constituent phase was also investigated. Examination of microstructure and evaluation of mechanical properties of the composites were performed depending on the mixing processes. As a result, WM composite showed the highest mechanical properties. The experimental results indicated that the mixing method was essential parameter to determine the quality of MG/diamond composites such as the uniformity of phase and binding behavior. 相似文献
