Rapid solidification magnesium alloy powders produced by spinning water atomization process were hot extruded into rectangular bars, from which tensile and compression samples have been cut at 0°, 45° and 90° angles from the extrusion direction to study their anisotropy. Electron back-scattered diffraction analysis has been used to investigate the texture evolution during the extrusion process. Texture parameters like the Schmid factor and the intensity of (0 0 0 1) basal plane in the pole figure have been evaluated and correlated to the mechanical properties. Results have shown that the extruded rods exhibited high strength and relatively less anisotropy compared to other previously reported values for wrought magnesium alloys. Tensile and compression yield stresses have shown very similar values to each other at all loading directions. This limited anisotropy could be linked to both the fine grained and inter-metallic-compound-dispersed microstructure of the extruded alloys. Dynamic recrystallization behavior during hot extrusion has also been investigated in the present study. 相似文献

Magnesium (Mg) composite reinforced with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) having superior mechanical properties was fabricated using both pure Mg and AZ61 Mg alloy matrix in this study. The composites were produced via powder metallurgy route containing wet process using isopropyl alcohol (IPA) based zwitterionic surfactant solution with unbundled CNTs. The produced composites were evaluated with tensile test and Vickers hardness test and analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) equipped with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and electron back scattered diffraction (EBSD). As a result, only with AZ61 Mg alloy matrix, tensile strength of the composite was improved. In situ formed Al2MgC2 compounds at the interface between Mg matrix and CNTs effectively reinforced the interfacial bonding and enabled tensile loading transfer from the Mg matrix to nanotubes. The activity of 5- to 6-year-old Japanese children (n = 29) was monitored for 3 consecutive days, including one weekend day, using an ActivTracer tri-axial accelerometer. The daily inhalation rate and time spent in sedentary, light, or moderate to vigorous levels of physical activity (MVPA) were estimated from the accelerometer measurements based on previously developed regression equations. The 3-day mean daily inhalation rate (STPD) was estimated at 8.3 ± 1.4 m3 day−1 in 10 subjects who completed 3 days of monitoring. The time spent in sedentary, light, or MVPA each day was 320, 415, and 81 min day−1, respectively. Analysis of between-day reliability indicated that 3 days of monitoring with the ActivTracer tri-axial accelerometer provided an acceptable estimate of daily inhalation rate (intra-class correlation coefficient [ICC] = 0.892), but low to moderate reliability for the time spent in different levels of activities (ICC = 0.43 to 0.58). We observed a significant difference in the daily inhalation rate between weekdays and the weekend day, possibly due to differences in time spent in MVPA. The effect of humidity during storage on the crosslinking reactions of isocyanate groups was investigated with attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy with pressure‐sensitive adhesives composed of poly[ethyl acrylate‐co‐(2‐ethylhexyl acrylate)‐co‐(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate)] as a base resin and polyisocyanate as a crosslinker. A peak‐resolving analysis of the amide II region revealed four bands. According to an analysis of the Fourier transform infrared spectra of the model compounds, these four bands were assigned to free urethane linkages, hydrogen‐bonded urethane linkages, free urea linkages, and hydrogen‐bonded urea linkages. As expected, storage under humid conditions led to the formation of free and hydrogen‐bonded urea linkages corresponding to the promotion of isocyanate consumption. Japanese cedar pollinosis (JCP) caused by allergenic cedar and cypress pollens is one of major economic and health issues in Japan. The present study reported here aimed to provide basic data to understand the status of early life exposures to airborne cedar and cypress pollens in school settings. In particular, the study investigated relationships between indoor and outdoor concentrations of airborne cedar and cypress pollens and total suspended particulates (TSP) in a kindergarten in Japan. Overall, outdoor concentrations of the airborne pollens and TSP were higher than the indoor concentrations, i.e., indoor to outdoor (I/O) ratios of 0.043–0.055 and 0.545 for the airborne pollens and TSP, respectively. The smaller I/O ratios for the pollens were expected because the larger pollen grains (20–30 μm in diameter) were less likely penetrated to indoor environment than for smaller airborne particulates. The present study also found increased TSP concentrations during the pollen season was likely attributed to increased airborne pollen concentrations. By understanding the status of indoor and outdoor concentrations of airborne cedar and cypress pollens in school settings, early life exposures to these allergenic pollens should be effectively minimized to prevent subsequent progression to JCP symptoms. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine whether measurements of human CRH in the inferior petrosal sinuses could distinguish patients with Cushing's syndrome from those with pseudo-Cushing states or normal physiology. Twenty-five patients with Cushing's disease, 17 patients with the syndrome of ectopic ACTH, 7 patients with Cushing's syndrome of adrenal origin, 6 patients with pseudo-Cushing states, and 11 volunteers believed to have normal hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axes were studied. Basal plasma human CRH and ACTH were measured at two time points in the petrosal sinuses and in a peripheral vein. Most subjects were studied after the administration of intravenous diazepam or midazolam and fentanyl, but because of the known inhibitory effects of such sedation on CRH secretion, 2 normal volunteers and 3 patients with pseudo-Cushing states were studied without sedation. Human CRH levels were near or below the detection limit of the assay in all subjects. Although the normal volunteers and patients with pseudo-Cushing states who were studied without sedation had significantly greater inferior petrosal sinus ACTH levels than those who received sedation, there were no differences in measured human CRH levels for any of the groups. We conclude that inferior petrosal sinus human CRH levels are not easily measured in the inferior petrosal sinuses and cannot be used to determine whether individual patients may have hypersecretion of CRH causing their ACTH secretion. 相似文献

The COP9 complex, genetically identified in Arabidopsis as a repressor of photomorphogenesis, is composed of multiple subunits including COP9, FUS6 (also known as COP11) and the Arabidopsis JAB1 homolog 1 (AJH1) ([1-3]; unpublished observations). We have previously demonstrated the existence of the mammalian counterpart of the COP9 complex and purified the complex by conventional biochemical and immunoaffinity procedures [4]. Here, we report the molecular identities of all eight subunits of the mammalian COP9 complex. We show that the COP9 complex is highly conserved between mammals and higher plants, and probably among most multicellular eukaryotes. It is not present in the single-cell eukaryote Saccharomyces cerevisiae, however. All of the subunits of the COP9 complex contain structural features that are also present in the components of the proteasome regulatory complex and the translation initiation factor eIF3 complex. Six subunits of the COP9 complex have overall similarity with six distinct non-ATPase regulatory subunits of the 26S proteasome, suggesting that the COP9 complex and the proteasome regulatory complex are closely related in their evolutionary origin. Subunits of the COP9 complex include regulators of the Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and c-Jun, a nuclear hormone receptor binding protein and a cell-cycle regulator. This suggests that the COP9 complex is an important cellular regulator modulating multiple signaling pathways. 相似文献

The structural and electronic properties of seventeen alkylxanthine derivatives were calculated using the MO program PM3 to elucidate the key features related to their inhibitory activity on phosphodiesterase (PDE) IV isoenzyme. Except for 7-alkylxanthine derivatives, a good correlation could be established between the distance between the tops of the two alkyl groups at the N1 and N3 positions of the xanthine skeleton (molecular length) and the PDE IV inhibitory activity (r=0.973, n=13). The same inhibitory activity could also be significantly correlated with the following electronic parameters of alkylxanthines: HOMO energy (r=0.850), absolute hardness (r=-0.806), and absolute electronegativity (r=-0.825). These results suggest that the electronic properties are partly responsible for PDE IV inhibition as far as the effects of structural properties associated with molecular length are concerned. Alkylxanthines may also act as electron donors in the charge-transfer interaction with the active sites on PDE IV isoenzyme. 相似文献

The effects of air humidity when drying with superheated steam (SHS) were examined considering displacement by SHS. A wetted raw starch sphere (ball) was used as the model material. It was found that the humidity profile strongly affects the mass change and properties of the products. The material became porous when it was dried with pure SHS from start to finish, which differs both from products dried with high-humidity air alone, and from products dried with air followed by SHS within a few minutes. A prediction method for adiabatic saturation temperature over a wide range of humidity is also proposed. 相似文献
