The rates of degradation of cyanuric acid, a key intermediate in a metabolic pathway of s-triazine herbicides, were measured for Pseudomonas sp. NRRL B-12227. The rate of degradation was affected by the rate of cyanuric acid transport through cell membranes and the activity of cyanuric acid amidohydrolase inside the cells. At low concentrations of cyanuric acid, the acclimation of cells to cyanuric acid and/or added nutrients effectively enhanced the degradation rate. The strain was also applied to bioremediation using a Bioremediation with Self-Immobilization System (BSIS), in which Pseudomonas sp. NRRL B-12227 cells were co-immobilized with Bacillus subtilis, the latter of which secretes a viscous polymer, in a shallow layer of soil packed in a column. More than 70% of the Pseudomonas sp. NRRL B-12227 cells were co-immobilized with the B. subtilis in a 7.5 cm layer of the packed soil by self-aggregation. More than 60% of the 1 mM cyanuric acid supplied to the packed soil was degraded in this layer during a 72 h period.  相似文献

Although many aroma components have been identified in green tea leaves, the aroma compounds contributing to green tea's characteristic odor have not yet been reported. The authors recently reported that aroma components with a matcha-like odor are present in both green tea and black tea prepared from the Sayamakaori tea cuttivar. This matcha-like odor is similar to the odor of commercial available matcha (high-quality powdered green tea), and is a specific odor feature of green tea leaves. At present, the green-tea odor is thought to arise from the combination of a large number of constituents. Recent reports indicate that a complex interaction between olfactory receptors and odorants is important for the evaluation of the odors. Taking into consideration these findings, the authors investigated the aroma profile of green tea, focusing on the characteristic molecular structures of the constituents that give matcha-like odor. Using a combination of organic synthesis and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry plus gas chromatography-olfactometry, the authors identified aroma components with matcha-like odors in five other tea cultivars. This investigation also revealed that several compounds with a formyl group were important constituents of the aroma of green tea leaves, although the odor of each constituent was not individually similar to the tea's overall aroma. The farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is a major nuclear receptor of bile acids; its activation suppresses sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1c (SREBP1c)-mediated lipogenesis and decreases the lipid contents in the liver. There are many reports showing that the administration of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) suppresses lipogenesis and reduces the lipid contents in the liver of experimental animals. Since UDCA is not recognized as an FXR agonist, these effects of UDCA cannot be readily explained by its direct activation of FXR. We observed that the dietary administration of UDCA in mice decreased the expression levels of SREBP1c and its target lipogenic genes. Alpha- and β-muricholic acids (MCA) and cholic acid (CA) were the major bile acids in the mouse liver but their contents decreased upon UDCA administration. The hepatic contents of chenodeoxycholic acid and deoxycholic acid (DCA) were relatively low but were not changed by UDCA. UDCA did not show FXR agonistic or antagonistic potency in in vitro FXR transactivation assay. Taking these together, we deduced that the above-mentioned change in hepatic bile acid composition induced upon UDCA administration might cause the relative increase in the FXR activity in the liver, mainly by the reduction in the content of β-MCA, a farnesoid X receptor antagonist, which suggests a mechanism by which UDCA suppresses lipogenesis and decreases the lipid contents in the mouse liver.  相似文献

Fe-54at.%Rh thin films were irradiated with 10 MeV iodine ions at room temperature. Before and after the irradiations, the changes in magnetic properties and the lattice structure of the samples were studied by means of a SQUID magnetometer and X-ray diffraction. For the low fluence irradiation, the SQUID measurement at 20 K shows that the anti-ferromagnetic region of the thin film is changed into ferromagnetic region by the irradiation. As the film thickness is much smaller than the ion range, we can discuss the relationship between the density of energy deposited by ions and the change in magnetization quantitatively. For the high fluence irradiation, the magnetization of the film is strongly decreased by the irradiation, which can be explained as due to the change in lattice structure from B2 into A1 structure by the irradiation.  相似文献

The purpose of this present study was to investigate the distribution and expression of chymase in the lacrimal glands (LGs) of patients afflicted with IgG4-related ophthalmic disease (IgG4-ROD). LGs from patients with severe canalicular obstruction were considered the control group. Toluidine blue staining confirmed a significant increase in the number of mast cells in the LGs obtained from the IgG4-ROD patients. In addition, immunostaining of serial sections from the LGs showed a significant increase in the number of chymase-positive cells and tryptase-positive cells in the IgG4-ROD LGs compared to the normal control LGs. The mRNA expression of chymase, tryptase, TGF-β1, and collagen-I tended to increase in the IgG4-ROD LGs. Immunostaining of vimentin and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) showed that myofibroblasts were the main cellular components in severely fibrotic regions of LGs in patients with IgG4-ROD. Linear regression analyses on the number of mast cells, chymase-positive cells, and tryptase-positive cells revealed significant positive correlations between those respective cells. Our findings suggest that chymase may play a role in the fibrotic disorder of IgG4-ROD LGs through the regulation of TGF-β1 activation and collagen-I deposition, and that it may be a therapeutic target for patients afflicted with IgG4-ROD.  相似文献

In this study, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, installed for surveillance purposes, is utilized to measure the flow rate during a flood. The procedure to determine both the angle and scale-factor of the camera is described. Then, image analysis techniques, namely the direct visual measurement method, Large-Scale PIV (LSPIV) and Space-Time Image Velocimetry (STIV), are applied to the video images recorded by the CCTV camera. The results of these methods and the conventional float measurement are compared. In addition, the accuracy of the respective methods is discussed. A set of low-quality video images of a flood during a thunderstorm that occurred under the dark ambient conditions (midnight) is analyzed using three image-based methods. The transition of the flow rate during the event is successfully estimated.  相似文献

We have developed the two-dimensional mapping technique with in-air-PIXE (2D-PIXE) using a metal capillary as a guide to extract ion beam to air. The metal capillary is the conventional injection needle with a 200 μm inside diameter. For the target which is the character made of the copper wires on aluminum basement, 2D-PIXE measurements were performed by irradiating 3 MeV proton beam. As a result, the character was tend to be restored clearly by this method. We discuss about the result of the two-dimensional map from a viewpoint of the signal-to-noise ratio and the resolution. This technique is expected to be applicable to various fields such as biology, nano-technology, archeology and so on.  相似文献

The in-plane optical conductivity of three metallic La2–x Sr x CuO4 single crystals with 0.10 x 0.15 has been studied between 30 and 295 K. Strong peaks in the far-infrared are observed, which cannot be explained by Drude-like models. Their similarity with peaks reported in Cu–O ladders with one-dimensional charge-ordering, their extremely low frequency, and their behavior with temperature allows us to conclude that those anomalous features are excitations of charge stripes in the Cu–O planes.  相似文献

TEM Observations of the Initial Oxidation Stages of Nb-Ion-Implanted TiAl   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Coupon specimens of TiAl were implanted with Nb ions at an acceleration voltage of 50 kV with a dose of 1021 ions m.–2 They were then slightly oxidized during heating to 900 or 1200 K, or at 1200 K for 3.6 ksec (1 hr) in a flow of purified oxygen under atmospheric pressure. The implanted specimens and oxidized specimens were characterized and observed by AES, X-ray diffractometry, SEM, TEM, EDS, and EPMA. Implantation improves the oxidation resistance significantly by forming virtually -Al2O3 scales. The implanted layer is about 75 nm thick; the outer part of 30-nm thickness is -Ti phase and the rest of 45-nm thickness is amorphous. Heating to 900 K in O2 results in partial crystallization of the amorphous layer to Ti5Al3O2 (Z-phase) and to 1200 K results in oxide scales of 270 to 400 nm thickness consisting mainly of Al2O3. The fraction of Al2O3 in the scale increases toward the substrate. Oxidation at 1200 K for 3.6 ksec results in Al2O3-rich scales of about 400-nm thickness. The oxide grain size is very fine, about 80 nm in size, and becomes smaller toward the outer scale surface. This implies that implantation enhanced the nucleation of Al2O3 grains relative to the growth of TiO2 grains. This finding and the formation of -Ti phase are thought to be responsible for the excellent oxidation resistance obtained.  相似文献
