The methanol crossover and other mass transfer phenomena have been investigated in a free-breathing direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). The current distribution profile along the MeOH flow channel was measured and information of local concentrations of the reacting species was obtained. The DMFC with a segmented cathode was found to be very useful for a detailed analysis of the interrelated parameters, which cause the local variations of the cell current. The connections between different operating parameters were clarified in detail for two different membranes. The measurements were done for both an experimental poly(vinylidene fluoride)-graft-poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (PVDF-g-PSSA) membrane and the commercial Nafion® 117 membrane, which have different methanol permeabilities. The MeOH concentration and the flow rate were varied in a wide range in order to determine their optimum values. The deviations from an even current density distribution were observed to increase as a function of MeOH concentration and decrease as a function of temperature. The power production of a free-breathing DMFC was observed to be proportional to the local oxygen concentration at the cathode side and inadequate air convection together with the MeOH crossover phenomenon was observed to decrease the cell performance locally.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether AZD2738, a dual neurokinin NK1/2 receptor antagonist, is a suitable candidate for further development with an oral immediate release solid dosage form as a possible final product. The neutral form of AZD2738 has only been isolated as amorphous material. In order to search for a solid material with improved physical and chemical stability and more suitable solid-state properties, a salt screen was performed. Mostly crystalline material of fumarate, maleate and chloride salt of AZD2738 were obtained. X-ray powder diffractometry, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic vapor sorption were used to investigate the physicochemical characteristics of the salts. Based on the physicochemical properties, the chloride salt is preferred for continued product development. The chloride salt of AZD2738 is an anhydrate, the crystallization is reproducible, the hygroscopicity is acceptable and just one polymorph was obtained. Notably is that the two obtained polymorphs of the fumarate salt of AZD2738 are monotropically related, whereas the two identified polymorphs for the maleate salt of the compound are enantiotropic. The dissolution behavior and the stability (in aqueous solutions, formulations and solid state) of the salts were also studied and found to be satisfactory, at least at pH >3. Liquid formulations should preferable be stored frozen at pH >3.  相似文献

Gamma-linolenic acid (Gla) and oils containing Gla have evident positive effects on a variety of disorders, and therefore, the structure of triacylglycerols (TAGs) containing Gla is of special interest. The regioisomeric structures of TAGs 18:3(n-3)/18:2/18:2 (Ala/L/L) and 18:3(n-6)/18:2/18:2 (Gla/L/L) in blackcurrant seed oil were determined by Ag-HPLC/APCI-MS and Ag-HPLC/ESI-MS/MS techniques. In the latter, silver ion adducts were prepared by adding silver nitrate to the postcolumn flow. A new Ag-HPLC solvent system containing nonchlorinated solvents for the separation of Gla- and Ala-containing TAGs is introduced. Ag-HPLC separation of Ala/L/L and Gla/L/L was sufficient and regioisomers sn-LnLL + sn-LLLn and sn-LLnL (Ln, linolenic acid) could be differentiated well with the MS methods used. No discrimination was made between the sn-1 and sn-3 positions. The results show that the methods used are suitable to discriminate and determine the regioisomeric structure of TAGs. The regioisomeric structure of TAG with the fatty acid combination Gla/L/L in blackcurrant seed oil was considered to be practically random (32.7-37.8% of sn-LGlaL). In the fatty acid combination Ala/L/L, the regioisomeric structure is nonrandom (7.3-12.1% of sn-LAlaL) with Ala preferentially in a primary position. It can be concluded that the positional distribution of Ala and Gla is different in Ln/L/L TAGs of blackcurrant seed oil.  相似文献

The etiology of acute lower respiratory tract infections (mostly pneumonia) in children is well characterized, but these are only some of the community-acquired infections warranting parenteral antimicrobial therapy. We prospectively evaluated all such infections among children aged 3 months to 15 years by use of blood cultures, examination of nasopharyngeal aspirates, and serologies for 15 viral, 7 bacterial, and 1 protozoal agent. Immunocompromised patients and those with urinary tract infection, meningitis, or osteoarticular infection were excluded. In all, 170 children were included. The pathogenic agent was identified in 62% of the cases. Bacteria were detected in 54%, and a pneumococcus was found in 59% of the cases identified. Viruses were found in 15% overall. Sole bacterial or viral infections were detected in 47.1% and 8.1%, respectively. Since thorough screening established the etiology in less than two-thirds of patients ill enough to be hospitalized and treated parenterally, better diagnostics are needed, especially to identify those who would truly benefit from antimicrobial therapy.  相似文献

Among adult Finns salt intake is about twice as high as the recommended levels and almost five-fold greater than the physiological requirement. Information as to salt intake in children has hitherto been sparse. Daily sodium intake among 1-5-year-olds was investigated in this study, and the foodstuffs from which it was derived were identified. In all age groups, sodium intake was at least two-fold greater than the Nordic recommendations, and among five-year-olds it exceeded the recommended intake for adults. Approximately half of the sodium intake was found to have derived from salt used in cooking. Levels of sodium derived by children from dairy, meat and grain products were also relatively high. Sodium intake in children after infancy merits greater attention than previously accorded it, as permanent eating habits and taste preferences are already formed at this age, and reasonable limits for salt intake should therefore be established during childhood.  相似文献

Summary The essential oil of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) fruits was extracted by liquid CO2. A J&W high pressure extraction apparatus was modified by providing means of visual control of the extraction. The apparatus could be filled with the optimum amount of extractant without disassembling the extractor. The modification made it possible to select the Soxhlet unit to function either continuously or in siphon cycles. The liquid CO2 extracts were compared with hydrodistillates and solvent extracts using capillary gas chromatography. Some 40 of the compounds were identified by mass spectrometry.

Zusammenfassung Aus den Früchten des Korianders (Coriandrum sativum L.) wurde das etherische Öl mittels flüssigen Kohlendioxid extrahiert. Die Modifizierung des J&W Hochdruckextrakteurs ermöglichte das Betrachten und die Kontrolle der Extraktion. Der Apparat konnte mit einer optimalen Menge von CO2 gefüllt werden, ohne den Extrakteur aufzumachen. Die Modifizierung ermöglichte entweder eine kontinuierliche oder eine siphonweise Funktion des Soxhletapparats zu wählen. Die CO2-Extrakte wurden gaschromatographisch mit Wasserdampfdestillaten und Lösungsmittelextrakten verglichen. Etwa 40 Verbindungen wurden massenspektrometrisch identifiziert.

A case of neonatal Pseudomonas putida sepsis presenting as staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome is described. Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome is a clinical term used for a spectrum of primarily neonatal blistering skin disorders caused by the exfoliative toxins of Staphylococcus aureus. The disease typically begins with general erythema and fever, followed by the formation of large fluid-filled bullae that coalesce and rupture on slightest pressure to leave extensive areas of denuded skin. The 9-day-old male infant described presented with a generalised non-tender, macular, erythematous rash that later developed into large, flaccid, clear fluid-filled bullae to leave extensive erythematous, weeping, and denuded areas covering over 90% of the total body surface. Despite aggressive antibiotic and symptomatic treatment, he died 11 days after admission. While Pseudomonas infections may present with vesico-bullous eruptions, this is believed to be the first case of neonatal Pseudomonas putida sepsis presenting as staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome.  相似文献

The potential of different catalytic after treatment techniques to meet future diesel emission standards, which are strongly shifted toward urban driving conditions including cold start, are critically discussed in this Account and evaluated for their suitability for commercial applications. The dominating techniques in this field are NO(x) storage, urea-selective catalytic reduction (SCR), and HC-SCR. Each of these techniques have significant disadvantages such as sulfur sensitiveness and regeneration requirements of NO(x)-storage materials, infrastructure issues and formation of ammonium nitrate (at low temperatures) for urea-SCR, and low-temperature activity of HC-SCR catalysts. Ways to overcome these disadvantages in commercial applications may involve optimized regeneration strategies, reactor modifications, flow reversal, closed-loop NO(x) feedback systems, nonthermal plasma, and/or hydrogen-assisted catalyses, etc.  相似文献

TAG of seeds, berries, and fruit pulp/peel of different subspecies of sea buckthorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides) were analyzed by MS and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). The seeds contained mainly TAG with acyl carbon number (ACN) of 52 with 2–6 double bonds (DB) (20–30%), and TAG of ACN 54 with 3–9 DB (70–80%). In the pulp/peel fraction, the major TAG were species with ACN:DB of 48∶1 to 48∶3 (19–49%), 50∶1 to 50∶4 (31–41%), and 52∶1 to 52∶6 (9–19%). The molecular weight species of whole berries largely resembled those of fruit pulp/peel with additional species of ACN 54 from the seeds (5–24%). Subspecies (spp.) sinensis differed from ssp. mongolica and rhamnoides by having a higher proportion of TAG of ACN 52 (27% vs. 21% and 22%, P<0.05) and a lower proportion of ACN 54 (71% vs. 79% and 78%, P<0.01) in seed TAG. Seed TAG of ssp. mongolica contained a higher proportion of more unsaturated species compared with those of the two other subspecies. Berry TAG of ssp. mongolica had the highest proportion of molecular species of ACN 48 due to the higher proportion of palmitic and palmitoleic acids and the lower seed content of the berries. Overall, palmitic acid favored the sn-1 and sn-3 positions. The order of preference of unsaturated FA for the sn-2 position depended at least partially on the FA combination of TAG. Seed TAG of ssp. mongolica contained a higher proportion of α-linolenic acid in the sn-2 position than those of ssp. sinensis. In berry TAG, ssp. mongolica had the highest proportions of palmitoleic and linoleic acids in the sn-2 position, and the lowest proportion of oleic/cis-vaccenic acid in the sn-2 position, among the three subspecies.  相似文献
