This article presents the synthesis of phase-pure rutile titania with different morphologies via hydrothermal method at significantly low temperatures (40-150 °C) without any additives and their application as efficient photocatalyst for environmental remediation. Phase and morphology has been determined with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Ultra violet diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS) shows the optical band-gap in the range of ∼2.8-3.1 eV and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller specific surface area is found to be between 70 and 140 m2/g depending on the synthesis conditions. Raman spectroscopic analyses of the samples provide valuable insights into the structural and stoichiometric details. Photodegradation of the pollutant azo-dye, methyl orange (MO) in presence and absence of oxygen was performed to study the photocatalytic efficiency of the synthesized materials. Complete photodegradation of the dye is confirmed with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) study. Dependence of dye photodegradation rate on morphology, specific surface area, surface nonstoichiometry and acidity were investigated in detail. Catalyst performance was compared from the rate constants obtained for each reaction using non-linear least square fitting (NLSF) to the experimental data in a concentration ratio (C0/Ct) versus time (t) plot which shows extraordinarily high activity for all samples compared to commercial reference. Among them the catalyst synthesized at 40 °C for 16 h showed best activity. Kinetic study of the reaction matches well with simulated fit to experimental data and confirms to be pseudo-first order reaction.  相似文献

A case of unicystic ameloblastoma which recurred after 15 years showing unusual histological features is reported. The prominent pseudo-glandular features present are described. In this paper, a simple and efficient methodology for the low-temperature synthesis of phase-pure nanocrystalline rutile TiO2 with tuned morphology is reported. Control on morphology has been achieved by simple variation of the hydrothermal process, starting with titanium-tetrachloride without using mineralizers, additives or templating agents. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) patterns showed no other phases of TiO2 establishing the formation of phase-pure rutile titania in the entire temperature range of synthesis (40-150 °C) and most noticeably even at a considerably low temperature (40 °C). Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra strongly indicated the presence of hydroxyl group or surface adsorbed water and the thermogravimetry and differential thermo-gravimetry (TG-DTG) showed no phase change up to 1000 °C. A combination of reaction parameters (temperature, time) with a thorough transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study demonstrated the formation of phase-pure rutile titania nanocrystals as nano-rods, bunched nano-spindles or spherical nanoparticles depending on the hydrothermal reaction conditions. The photocatalytic activity of the synthesized nanocrystals has been successfully evaluated on the photodegradation of methyl orange (MO), a well-known pollutant azo-dye, as a model reaction.  相似文献

Toughness of rigid thermoplastic is an important mechanical property in polymer technology. In the present study, toughening of waste polypropylene (WPP) with ethylene–propylene–diene monomer (EPDM) rubber at different loading levels was carried out by melt blending at 180 °C. The EPDM-toughened WPP samples were characterized for its thermo-mechanical properties. The effect of carbon black (5 wt%) as a functional filler in WPP/EPDM to impart UV protection was also studied. The test sheets were subjected to natural weathering in variable climatic conditions for a 4-month period of time and were taken out at regular intervals for characterization. The waste PP underwent excessive degradation as the mechanical strength properties such as tensile, flexural and impact strengths were reduced drastically. On the other hand, WPP containing varying proportions of EPDM and carbon black showed better retention of strength properties. The percentage degree of crystallinity has been unusually increased after the environmental degradation due to chemi-crystallization. The impact-modified WPP which contains carbon black retained the processability even after the environmental aging. After aging, the non-stabilized systems were shown extensive change, whereas the structural integrity has been well retained of the toughened WPP containing carbon black as was evident from SEM and optical photomicroscopy.  相似文献

The study examines the dynamics of carbon emissions baselines of electricity generation in Indian states and Chinese provinces in the backdrop of ongoing electricity sector reforms in these countries. Two Indian states—Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh, and three Chinese provinces–Guangdong, Liaoning and Hubei have been chosen for detailed analysis to bring out regional variations that are not captured in aggregate country studies. The study finds that fuel mix is the main driver behind the trends exhibited by the carbon baselines in these five cases. The cases confirm that opportunities exist in the Indian and Chinese electricity sectors to lower carbon intensity mainly in the substitution of other fuels for coal and, to a lesser extent, adoption of more efficient and advanced coal-fired generation technology. Overall, the findings suggest that the electricity sectors in India and China are becoming friendlier to the global environment. Disaggregated analysis, detailed and careful industry analysis is essential to establishing a power sector carbon emissions baseline as a reference for CDM crediting. However, considering all the difficulties associated with the baseline issue, our case studies demonstrate that there is merit in examining alternate approaches that rely on more aggregated baselines.  相似文献

Miniband parameters for a semiconductor superlattice are worked out using a Kronig Penney type of model potential distribution in the individual layers, and the results are compared with those obtained by using a constant electron effective mass. It is concluded that the nonparabolicity in the energy bands alter the miniband parameters significantly and the exact Ek relation for the electrons is required to be known for obtaining quantitatively correct results.  相似文献

A set of physical constants for In0.53Ga0.47As as required for transport calculations is obtained by reviewing the literature. Velocities for fields up to 100 kV/cm, calculated by the Monte Carlo method using these constants, are presented for the temperatures of 95 and 300 K.
