The prediction that the electron diffusivity may be negative in high electric fields under some conditions has been examined starting from the Boltzmann equation and assuming a Maxwellian distribution function. It is found that the diffusion constant is positive for predominant acoustic phonon, polar optical phonon or impurity atom scattering. But the constant may be negative when effects of nonparabolicity are important and energy relaxation is limited by non-polar optical phonon scattering but the momentum relaxation is dominated by impurity atom scattering. Calculations with the parameter values of InSb, silicon and germanium show that only in materials like germanium at low temperatures of about 27 K the diffusion constant may be negative for impurity concentrations of 1017–1018 cm?3. 相似文献

Affinity purified major histocompatibility (MHC)-peptide complexes are heterodimeric cell surface glycoproteins and are known to recognize antigen-specific CD4(+) T cell receptors (TCRs). In general, the affinity of MHC-peptide complexes to TCRs are considered very low with a K(D) of 5 x 10(-5) M and, therefore, stabilization of these complexes on T cell surface was not reported earlier. This could be due to (1) incomplete occupancy of MHC molecules with antigenic peptides, (2) variability of the binding constant of peptides to MHC molecules, (3) presence of endogenously bound peptides in MHC preparations, or (4) a combination of these. Using well-characterized HLA-DR2 complex loaded with a high affinity immunodominant epitope analog from human myelin basic protein (MBP), which shows release of gamma-IFN by specific stimulation of transformed human T cell clone (SS8T). The present report demonstrates a method for the localization of bound MHC class II-peptide complexes on T cell surface by backscatter electron imaging using in-lens Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM). The axial and radial variation of the heat transfer coefficient in a circulating fluidized bed riser column, and the effect of operating parameters thereon, are investigated. The experimental set-up consists of a riser column of 102 mm×102 mm in bed cross-section, 5·25 m in height with a return leg of the same dimensions. The unit is fabricated with plexiglass columns of 0·6 m in length which are interchangeable with one another. Two axial heat transfer test sections of 102 mm×102 mm in cross-section, 500 mm in height, and made of mild steel, are employed for the axial heat transfer study and one horizontal tube section of 22·5 mm OD made of mild steel is employed for the radial heat transfer study. The primary air velocity is varied between 4·21 and 7·30 m s−1. Local sand of mean size (dp) 248 μm is used as the bed material. One empirical model with the help of dimensional analysis has been proposed to predict the heat transfer coefficient to a bare horizontal tube in a CFB riser column and the model results are validated with the experimental data; good agreement has been observed. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

The radial variation of the heat transfer coefficient across the bed width, including the effect of fins and fin shapes (surface roughness), on the heat transfer characteristics in the lean phase region of a circulating fluidized bed riser column are investigated. Three test sections (bare horizontal tube, V-fin tube and square fin tube) are employed for the investigation. The experimental unit consists of a riser column of 102×102 mm in bed cross-section, 5·25 m in height with a return leg of the same dimensions, and both made up of plexiglas columns. For the same operating conditions, the provision of fins results in a drop in heat transfer coefficient, but increases total heat transfer owing to increased surface area. The present experimental data are compared with published literature and good agreement has been observed. In this study, we demonstrate the fabrication of multifunctional composite polyurethane (PU) membrane from a sol gel system containing TiO2 and fly ash (FA) nanoparticles (NPs). The adsorptive property of FA and photocatalytic property of TiO2 can introduce different functionalities on PU mat for water purification. Different types of PU nanofiber mats were prepared by varying the composition of NPs in blend solution. FE-SEM, TEM, TGA, XRD, UV–visible spectra, and water contact angle measurement confirmed the incorporation of FA and TiO2 NPs on/into PU nanofibrous mat. The influence of NPs on PU membrane was evaluated from the adsorption of heavy metals (Hg, Pb), removal of dyes (methylene blue), antibacterial activity, and water flux. The improvement of all these activities is attributed to the adsorptive property of FA and photocatalytic/hydrophilic property of TiO2 NPs. Therefore, as-synthesized composite membrane can be utilized as an economically friendly filter media for water purification. 相似文献

Vacuum drying of sorbitol or xylitol‐coated Lactobacillus reuteri LR6 cells and fluidised bed drying with different excipients were compared for the cell viability post‐drying. L. reuteri cells coated with xylitol and desiccated in unsupported form or together with skim milk powder as an excipient were found to be better protected at high drying temperatures. Examination of the protein and polypeptide components of the cell envelopes via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy revealed different degrees of structural deformation in individual samples, indicating milk solids as supporting excipient and fluidised bed drying helps in retaining high cell viability. 相似文献
