Highly aqueously dispersible (soluble) TiO2 nanoparticles are usually synthesized by a solution-based sol–gel (solvolysis/condensation) process, and no direct precipitation of titania has been reported. This paper proposes a new approach to synthesize stable TiO2 nanoparticles by a non-solvolytic method - direct liquid phase precipitation at room temperature. Ligand-capped TiO2 nanoparticles are more readily solubilized compared to uncapped TiO2 nanoparticles, and these capped materials show distinct optical absorbance/emission behaviors. The influence of ligands, way of reactant feeding, and post-treatment on the shape, size, crystalline structure, and surface chemistry of the TiO2 nanoparticles has been thoroughly investigated by the combined use of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, UV-visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy, and photoluminescence (PL). It is found that all above variables have significant effects on the size, shape, and dispersivity of the final TiO2 nanoparticles. For the first time, real-time UV–vis spectroscopy and PL are used to dynamically detect the formation and growth of TiO2 nanoparticles in solution. These real-time measurements show that the precipitation process begins to nucleate after an initial inhibition period of about 1 h, thereafter a particle growth occurs and reaches the maximum point after 2 h. The synthesis reaction is essentially completed after 4 h.  相似文献

In this study, thin chrome alloy reflective coatings of less than 50 nm are prepared by magnetron co-sputtering chrome and a dopant material onto coated polymeric substrates. This report shows that the lattice parameter of the alloy of chrome and dopant can be used to control the macroscopic abrasion resistance of the coating. These alloy structures are not predicted by thermodynamic equilibrium phase diagrams, illustrating the ability of physical vapour deposition to generate novel coatings. As these coatings are deposited on substrates having a glass transition temperature below 150 °C, the structure after deposition but without post processing is critical because conventional post processing (high temperature annealing) cannot be applied.  相似文献

The spin Hall effect is a relativistic spin-orbit coupling phenomenon that can be used to electrically generate or detect spin currents in non-magnetic systems. Here we review the experimental results that, since the first experimental observation of the spin Hall effect less than 10 years ago, have established the basic physical understanding of the phenomenon, and the role that several of the spin Hall devices have had in the demonstration of spintronic functionalities and physical phenomena. We have attempted to organize the experiments in a chronological order, while simultaneously dividing the Review into sections on semiconductor or metal spin Hall devices, and on optical or electrical spin Hall experiments. The spin Hall device studies are placed in a broader context of the field of spin injection, manipulation, and detection in non-magnetic conductors.  相似文献

The test campaigns of the ITER conductors in the SULTAN test facility re-started in December 2011 after three months break. The main focus of the activities is about the qualification tests of the Central Solenoid (CS) conductors, with three different samples for a total six variations of strand suppliers and cable layouts. In 2012, five Toroidal Field (TF) conductor samples have also been tested as part of the supplier and process qualification phase of the European, Korean, Chinese and Russian Federation Agencies.A summary of the test results for all the ITER samples tested in the last period is presented, including an updated statistics of the broad transition, the performance degradation and the impact of layout variations.The role of SULTAN test facility during the ITER construction is reviewed, and the load of work for the next three years is anticipated.  相似文献

Doxorubicin (DOX) is a widely used anticancer drug. However, its clinical use is severely limited due to drug-induced cumulative cardiotoxicity, which leads to progressive cardiomyocyte dysfunction and heart failure. Enormous efforts have been made to identify potential strategies to alleviate DOX-induced cardiotoxicity; however, to date, no universal and highly effective therapy has been introduced. Here we reported that cinnamic acid (CA) derivatives exert a multitarget protective effect against DOX-induced cardiotoxicity. The experiments were performed on rat cardiomyocytes (H9c2) and human induced-pluripotent-stem-cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) as a well-established model for cardiac toxicity assessment. CA derivatives protected cardiomyocytes by ameliorating DOX-induced oxidative stress and viability reduction. Our data indicated that they attenuated the chemotherapeutic’s toxicity by downregulating levels of caspase-3 and -7. Pre-incubation of cardiomyocytes with CA derivatives prevented DOX-induced motility inhibition in a wound-healing assay and limited cytoskeleton rearrangement. Detailed safety analyses—including hepatotoxicity, mutagenic potential, and interaction with the hERG channel—were performed for the most promising compounds. We concluded that CA derivatives show a multidirectional protective effect against DOX-induced cardiotoxicity. The results should encourage further research to elucidate the exact molecular mechanism of the compounds’ activity. The lead structure of the analyzed CA derivatives may serve as a starting point for the development of novel therapeutics to support patients undergoing DOX therapy.  相似文献

Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) is a progressive and incurable disease with poor prognosis for patients. Despite introduction of novel therapies, the mortality rate remains high. An attractive alternative for extension of the life of mCRPC patients is PSMA-based targeted radioimmunotherapy. In this paper, we extended our in vitro study of 223Ra-labeled and PSMA-targeted NaA nanozeolites [223RaA-silane-PEG-D2B] by undertaking comprehensive preclinical in vitro and in vivo research. The toxicity of the new compound was evaluated in LNCaP C4-2, DU-145, RWPE-1 and HPrEC prostate cells and in BALB/c mice. The tissue distribution of 133Ba- and 223Ra-labeled conjugates was studied at different time points after injection in BALB/c and LNCaP C4-2 tumor-bearing BALB/c Nude mice. No obvious symptoms of antibody-free and antibody-functionalized nanocarriers cytotoxicity and immunotoxicity was found, while exposure to 223Ra-labeled conjugates resulted in bone marrow fibrosis, decreased the number of WBC and platelets and elevated serum concentrations of ALT and AST enzymes. Biodistribution studies revealed high accumulation of 223Ra-labeled conjugates in the liver, lungs, spleen and bone tissue. Nontargeted and PSMA-targeted radioconjugates exhibited a similar, marginal uptake in tumour lesions. In conclusion, despite the fact that NaA nanozeolites are safe carriers, the intravenous administration of NaA nanozeolite-based radioconjugates is dubious due to its high accumulation in the lungs, liver, spleen and bones.  相似文献

The authors tested the spatial memory of serially presented locations in Clark's nutcrackers (Nucifraga columbiana). Birds were serially presented with locations in an open room. The authors buried a seed in a sand-filled cup at each location and then tested nutcrackers for their memory for each location in the list by using the cluster method. For each item in the list, the authors opened a cluster of 6 holes. Accuracy was measured by how many tries were required for the bird to find the correct location within each cluster. In Experiments 1 and 2, the authors presented 2 lists of locations and found evidence for proactive and retroactive interference. Nutcrackers made errors by visiting the interfering list of locations during recovery of the target list. This finding demonstrates that nutcrackers are susceptible to proactive and retroactive interference during the recall of spatial information. In this work, an optical modulation spectroscopy technique: thermoreflectance has been employed to study temperature distributions on the surface of optically pumped vertical external cavity surface emitting lasers (VECSELs). The thermoreflectance is based on the relative change of reflectivity of the sample induced by the change of its temperature. In this case the temperature change of the sample is induced by operating the pump in pulse mode. We have investigated samples with and without intracavity heatspreader. The resulting temperatures and temperature distributions on the sample surface have been measured and compared with theoretical calculations. The results confirm the effectiveness of silicon carbide (SiC) heatspreader approach. This is also a first report on the direct temperature mapping on VECSELs, with micron spatial resolution.  相似文献
