Multi‐hollowed fibers with a hollowness ratio of over 20% were successfully produced using a neck‐drawing technique accompanied by CO2 laser irradiation on unoriented and amorphous polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) fibers with diameters of approximately 104 µm. The structure and mechanical properties of the multi‐hollowed fibers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, wide angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD), birefringence measurements, and tensile tests. Crystal orientation factors in the direction normal to the (010) and (002) planes, which were obtained from WAXD patterns, were lower in comparison to values obtained in previous studies on fibers that did not feature these hollows [9] because of the development of these internal hollows. The PTT fibers in this study also displayed high toughness, about 465 MPa (3.5 cN/dtex) strength and about 40% elongation, and had excellent elastic recovery (>95%) after 10 stretch cycles. POLYM. The wide molar mass distribution of native starch creates obstacles in investigating the physicochemical characteristics of starch, such as retrogradation, because samples thought to be the same are actually compounds containing many chains with different molar masses. In this paper, the sweet potato amylose and amylopectin isolated from retrograded starch were treated with the retrogradation–hydrolysis method three times, and their physicochemical changes in this process were determined by absorbance of the starch–iodine complex, light microscopy, and molar mass and chain length distributions. The results showed that repeated retrogradation and hydrolysis caused the molar mass distribution of sweet potato amylose and amylopectin to reduce from 4.2 × 107–205 and 7971–223 to 6.0 × 104–730 and 4533–211 g mol−1, respectively. This retrogradation–hydrolysis cut the chain length distribution of sweet potato amylose from DP 9–35 to DP 3–13, but that of amylopectin remained unchanged. The double helix in sweet potato amylopectin will not form if the percentage of chain length with DP ≥ 4 is less than 25%. Open circuit voltage (VOC) of organic bulk heterojunction solar cell is extended by the addition of a 20 wt % of F8TBT, an ambipolar polymer in the active layer matrixes (P3HT:PCBM) and then spin casted (1000 rpm/30 s) in the optimized devices on the PEDOT:PSS layer of the ITO glass. A substantial increase in the open circuit voltage from approximately 0.61–0.88 V (44.26%) has been observed with slight increase in efficiency up to 1.91% in the fabricated devices. However, further increment of F8TBT content to 40 wt % reduces the photovoltaic efficiency and affects the JSC values remarkably, possibly due the excess amount of resistance developed. The enhancement of VOC is attributed to the ambipolar nature of F8TBT polymer which facilitates the generated electron and hole transfer at the respective electrodes, enhanced π–π* conjugation in polymer matrix, a superior nanoscale separation, and better molecular conformation at the film interface, thus giving an ample opportunities to explore the impact of blending of materials rather than depositing a thin buffer layer by expensive vapor phase technologies. BiCuSeO is a promising thermoelectric material but needs a complicated synthesis process. In this work, fine‐grained BiCuSeO samples with high phase purity were synthesized by a combination of mechanical alloying (MA) and spark plasma sintering (SPS). It is found that BiCuSeO compounds can be formed by the reaction between BiSe and CuO, after BiSe appeared firstly when using Bi, Se, and CuO as raw materials during MA process. The electrical conductivity of the corresponding bulk attains a modest enhancement due to the significantly increased carrier concentration although the carrier mobility was reduced compared with the sample prepared by classical solid‐state reaction. The total thermal conductivity is below 0.7 W/mK in the whole measured temperature range, which is attributable to the increased defects and gain boundaries. As a result, a relatively high ZT value of 0.50 was obtained for the pristine BiCuSeO sample. In addition, when Bi was replaced by Ca element, the electrical transport property of the samples was improved, resulting in an enhancement of ZT in the whole measured temperature range. 相似文献

The poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) grafted titanium dioxide nanoparticles were synthesized and added to the substrate of flat‐sheet thin film composite forward osmosis (TFC‐FO) membranes. The hydrophilicity of substrate was improved, which was advantageous to enhance the water flux of TFC‐FO membranes. The membranes containing a 3 wt % TiO2‐PHEMA in the substrate exhibited a finger‐like structure combined with sponge‐like structure, while those with lower or without TiO2‐PHEMA content showed fully finger‐like structures. As for FO performance, the TFC‐FO membranes with 3 wt % TiO2‐PHEMA content achieved the highest water flux of 42.8 LMH and 24.2 LMH against the DI water using 2M NaCl as the draw solution tested under the active layer against draw solution (AL‐DS) mode and active layer against feed solution (AL‐FS) mode, respectively. It was proven that the hydrophilic property of membrane substrates was a strong factor influencing the water flux in FO tests. Furthermore, the structural parameter was remarkably decreased with an increase of TiO2‐PHEMA content in membrane substrate, indicating the reducing of internal concentration polarization. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this work, titanium nitride (TiN) nanoparticles were employed to achieve enhanced thermal insulation and flame retardance of phenolic foam (PF)/TiN nanocomposites (PFTNs) via in situ polymerization. The morphologies of PFTNs were observed by scanning electron microscope and the images showed that the PFTNs have more uniform cell morphologies compared with pure PF. Thermal insulating properties of PFTNs were evaluated by thermal conductivity tests. The introduction of TiN obviously decreased the thermal conductivities of PF over a wide temperature range (?20 to 60 °C). Significantly, the thermal conductivity of PFTNs gradually decreased as the temperature increased from 30 to 60 °C, showing a contrary tendency with that of pure PF. Moreover, the thermal stability and flame‐retardant properties of PFTNs were estimated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), UL‐94 vertical burning and limited oxygen index (LOI) tests, respectively. cis,cis‐1,3,5‐Triaminocyclohexane (TAC) was synthesized and used to prepare composite nanofiltration (NF) membranes by interfacial polymerization with trimesoyl chloride (TMC). The surface elemental composition, morphology, and hydrophilicity of the prepared NF membranes were characterized. The separation performances were examined with various salts and polyethylene glycol (PEG400, PEG600) solutions. The effects of preparation conditions were also systematically studied. The NF membrane was negatively charged and exhibited a salt rejection in the order Na2SO4 (98.2%) > MgSO4 (90.8%) > MgCl2 (84.5%) > NaCl (54.6%). The water permeability was 1.56 L m?2 h?1 bar?1, and the molecular weight cutoff was 600 Da. The TAC/TMC membrane exhibited some characteristics that were different from the ones made from common diamines such as m‐phenylenediamine: (1) the surface was smoother, without a ridge‐and‐valley structure; (2) there were two kinds of crosslinking points in the polyamide chains; (3) the active layer was formed faster (only 5 seconds was required to reach a Na2SO4 rejection of 98%). © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Iron chelation therapy has been recognized as a promising antitumor therapeutic strategy. Herein we report a novel theranostic agent for targeted iron chelation therapy and near‐infrared (NIR) optical imaging of cancers. The theranostic agent was prepared by incorporation of a polyaminocarboxylate‐based cytotoxic chelating agent (N‐NE3TA; 7‐[2‐[(carboxymethyl)amino]ethyl]‐1,4,7‐triazacyclononane‐1,4‐diacetic acid) and a NIR fluorescent cyanine dye (Cy5.5) onto a tumor‐targeting transferrin (Tf). The N‐NE3TA–Tf conjugate (without Cy5.5) was characterized and evaluated for antiproliferative activity in HeLa, HT29, and PC3 cancer cells, which have elevated expression levels of the transferrin receptor (TfR). The N‐NE3TA–Tf conjugate displayed significant inhibitory activity against all three cancer cell lines. The NIR dye Cy5.5 was then incorporated into N‐NE3TA–Tf, and the resulting cytotoxic and fluorescent transferrin conjugate N‐NE3TA–Tf–Cy5.5 was shown by microscopy to enter TfR‐overexpressing cancer cells. The deployable structures based on shape memory polymer composites (SMPCs) have been developed for its unique properties, such as high reliability, low-cost, lightweight, and self-deployment without complex mechanical devices compared with traditional deployable structures. In order to increase the inflatable structure system’s robustness and light the weight of it, a cubic deployable support structure based on SMPC is designed and analyzed preliminarily. The cubic deployable support structure based on SMPC consists of four dependent spatial cages, each spatial cage is composed of 12 three-longeron SMPC truss booms and end connections. The shape recovery of arc-shaped deployable laminates drive the three-longeron SMPC truss booms to unfold, thus realize the expansion of the deployable support structure. The concept and operation of the cubic deployable support structure are described in detail. A series of experiments are performed on the three-longeron deployable laminates unit and the simplified cubic deployable support structure to investigate the shape recovery behavior in the deployment process. Results indicate that the cubic deployable support structure has a high deployment-tgo-stowage volume ratio and can achieve self-deployment, package, and deploy without complex mechanical devices. 相似文献

The separation of nitrogen heterocyclic compounds (NHC) contained in a model coal tar fraction comprising four kinds of NHC [indole (In), quinoline (Q), iso-quinoline (iQ), quinaldine (Qu)], three kinds of bicyclic aromatic compound (BAC) [1-methylnaphthalene (1MN), 2-methylnaphthalene (2MN), dimethylnaphthalene (DMN) mixture with ten structural isomers (DMNs; regarded as one component)], biphenyl (Bp), and phenyl ether (Pe) was examined by batch cocurrent three stages equilibrium extraction. The model coal tar fraction used as a raw material in this work was prepared according to the components and compositions contained in coal tar fraction (distilled temperature ranges: 240–265°C). An aqueous solution of formamide and that of methanol were used as solvent, respectively. The distribution coefficient of the entire NHC (NHCs) summed four kinds of NHC was much larger than that of the entire BAC (BACs) summed three kinds of BAC, Bp, and Pe. Irrespective of solvent used in this work, the NHCs was recovered more than 90% through three stages of the equilibrium extraction. The selectivity of NHCs based on BACs obtained through the 3 stages equilibrium extraction using an aqueous solution of formamide was higher 3.6–8 times than that using an aqueous solution of methanol. Furthermore, we investigated the recovery process of NHCs contained in coal tar fraction using the formamide experimental results obtained from this work. 相似文献
