This study examined the influences of website design on prospective job seekers. A total of 182 participants accessed and reviewed an online job ad. Afterwards, they rated: (a) the attractiveness of the ad’s formatting, (b) the usability of the website, (c) overall evaluations of the organization’s web appeal, (d) impressions of the organization, and (e) willingness to pursue employment with the hiring organization. Although both the formatting attractiveness and usability of online recruitment materials influenced participants’ inclinations to pursue jobs, formatting was more important than usability. Moreover, impressions of the employer mediated the relationship between satisfaction with the website and willingness to pursue employment with the organization. Overall, this research advances knowledge by applying signaling theory to the web-based recruitment domain and by testing a mediated relationship implied therein. In addition, this is the first study to introduce relative weights analysis to the recruitment literature.  相似文献

The estimation of dynamically evolving ellipsoids from noisy lower-dimensional projections is examined. In particular, this work describes a model-based approach using geometric reconstruction and recursive estimation techniques to obtain a dynamic estimate of left-ventricular ejection fraction from a gated set of planar myocardial perfusion images. The proposed approach differs from current ejection fraction estimation techniques both in the imaging modality used and in the subsequent processing which yields a dynamic ejection fraction estimate. For this work, the left ventricle is modeled as a dynamically evolving three-dimensional (3-D) ellipsoid. The left-ventricular outline observed in the myocardial perfusion images is then modeled as a dynamic, two-dimensional (2-D) ellipsoid, obtained as the projection of the former 3-D ellipsoid. This data is processed in two ways: first, as a 3-D dynamic ellipsoid reconstruction problem; second, each view is considered as a 2-D dynamic ellipse estimation problem and then the 3-D ejection fraction is obtained by combining the effective 2-D ejection fractions of each view. The approximating ellipsoids are reconstructed using a Rauch-Tung-Striebel smoothing filter, which produces an ejection fraction estimate that is more robust to noise since it is based on the entire data set; in contrast, traditional ejection fraction estimates are based only on true frames of data. Further, numerical studies of the sensitivity of this approach to unknown dynamics and projection geometry are presented, providing a rational basis for specifying system parameters. This investigation includes estimation of ejection fraction from both simulated and real data.  相似文献

In recent years, we face an increasing interest in protecting multimedia data and copyrights due to the high exchange of information. Attackers are trying to get confidential information from various sources, which brings the importance of securing the data. Many researchers implemented techniques to hide secret information to maintain the integrity and privacy of data. In order to protect confidential data, histogram-based reversible data hiding with other cryptographic algorithms are widely used. Therefore, in the proposed work, a robust method for securing digital video is suggested. We implemented histogram bit shifting based reversible data hiding by embedding the encrypted watermark in featured video frames. Histogram bit shifting is used for hiding highly secured watermarks so that security for the watermark symbol is also being achieved. The novelty of the work is that only based on the quality threshold a few unique frames are selected, which holds the encrypted watermark symbol. The optimal value for this threshold is obtained using the Firefly Algorithm. The proposed method is capable of hiding high-capacity data in the video signal. The experimental result shows the higher capacity and video quality compared to other reversible data hiding techniques. The recovered watermark provides better identity identification against various attacks. A high value of PSNR and a low value of BER and MSE is reported from the results.

The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is under intense research due to its significance in energy storage and conversion processes. Recent studies show that interconnected and hierarchically porous structures can further enhance ORR kinetics as well as catalyst durability, but their preparation can be quite time and/or chemical consuming. Here, a simple approach is reported to prepare such complex structures by pyrolyzing composites containing NaCl and ZIF‐8. The templating effect of molten NaCl connects ZIF‐8 particles into web‐like carbon networks. During ORR activity measurements, it achieves a 0.964 V onset potential and a 38 mV dec?1 Tafel slope, which are comparable to those of the benchmark Pt/C (0.979 V and 40 mV dec?1). Due to the metal‐free feature, this catalyst exhibits a 16 mV shift in half‐wave potential after a 10 000‐cycle durability test, which is only 60% of that of Pt/C. The catalyst is also tested in Zn–air batteries and the assemblies are able to work at above 1.2 V for 140 h, which triples the life held by those with Pt/C. This study demonstrates a facile strategy to prepare metal‐free ORR catalysts with interconnectivity and hierarchical porosity, and proves their great potentials in ORR catalysis and Zn–air batteries.  相似文献

A wavelet-based method for multiscale tomographic reconstruction   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
The authors represent the standard ramp filter operator of the filtered-back-projection (FBP) reconstruction in different bases composed of Haar and Daubechies compactly supported wavelets. The resulting multiscale representation of the ramp-filter matrix operator is approximately diagonal. The accuracy of this diagonal approximation becomes better as wavelets with larger numbers of vanishing moments are used. This wavelet-based representation enables the authors to formulate a multiscale tomographic reconstruction technique in which the object is reconstructed at multiple scales or resolutions. A complete reconstruction is obtained by combining the reconstructions at different scales. The authors' multiscale reconstruction technique has the same computational complexity as the FBP reconstruction method. It differs from other multiscale reconstruction techniques in that (1) the object is defined through a one-dimensional multiscale transformation of the projection domain, and (2) the authors explicitly account for noise in the projection data by calculating maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) multiscale reconstruction estimates based on a chosen fractal prior on the multiscale object coefficients. The computational complexity of this maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) solution is also the same as that of the FBP reconstruction. This result is in contrast to commonly used methods of statistical regularization, which result in computationally intensive optimization algorithms.  相似文献
