The effect of extensive purification by foaming (and foam removal) upon the surface tension, the Marangoni effect, and upon the film elasticity of solutions of sodium dodecyl sulfate and sulfonate has been studied. Evidence is presented that com-plete purification was not obtained and that the persistence of a Marangoni effect with a long relaxation time is a sensitive test for surface impurities. Presents a quick method for determining individual MMPI scale impact to avoid distorted MMPI profiles resulting from omitted items. A tabular formation easily provides omitted-item scale membership to evaluate potential profile distortion. The table permits scale-specific statements in clinical reports, rather than general notes about overall profile lowering, and can enhance the interpretation of omissions. This paper describes the preliminary results of a detection module for a Micro Ceramic Cell Analyzer (MCCA) development and fabrication process. The detector with integrated light source (electroluminescence diode) and photodetector (light-to-voltage converter) is made using Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics (LTCC) technology. The presented device is assigned for use in fluorescence activated cell detection. Its performance is examined experimentally for two test solutions, which consist of Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cervisiae cells. Investigated biological material is marked using the DAPI (4′, 6-diamidino-2′-phenylindole, dihydrochloride) fluorescent stain. After exposure to a 370 nm excitation light, the cells bonded with DAPI fluorescent blue (460 nm). Using the photodetector, fluorescence intensity was found to be proportional to the number of the cells in the test solutions.  相似文献

The optical response of metallic nanostructures after intense excitation with femtosecond-laser pulses has recently attracted increasing attention: such response is dominated by ultrafast electron-phonon coupling and offers the possibility to achieve optical modulation with unprecedented terahertz bandwidth. In addition to noble metal nanoparticles, efforts have been made in recent years to synthesize heavily doped semiconductor nanocrystals so as to achieve a plasmonic behavior with spectrally tunable features. In this work, we studied the dynamics of the localized plasmon resonance exhibited by colloidal Cu(2-x)Se nanocrystals of 13 nm in diameter and with x around 0.15, upon excitation by ultrafast laser pulses via pump-probe experiments in the near-infrared, with ~200 fs resolution time. The experimental results were interpreted according to the two-temperature model and revealed the existence of strong nonlinearities in the plasmonic absorption due to the much lower carrier density of Cu(2-x)Se compared to noble metals, which led to ultrafast control of the probe signal with modulation depth exceeding 40% in transmission.  相似文献

This paper deals with the assessment of the influence of heat treatment of Norway spruce wood (Picea abies L.) on its thermal stability and burning process. Three types of samples were used for the research. The first group was comprised of untreated samples. The second group was comprised of samples heat treated according to the ThermoWood—Thermo-S thermal programme (maximum temperature during heat treatment is 190 °C), and the third group was modified according to the ThermoWood—Thermo-D thermal programme (maximum temperature during heat treatment is 212 °C). The influence of heat treatment on the burning process was assessed based on the heat release rate, effective heat of combustion and the yield of carbon monoxide. The influence of heat treatment on the thermal stability was assessed based on the resistant residue weight. Heat release rate, effective heat of combustion, yield of carbon monoxide and resistant residue weight were determined with a cone calorimeter for different heat flux densities. The results obtained prove that the spruce wood heat treatment has an important influence on the decrease of the maximum heat release rate and the increase of resistant residue weight. The results obtained further prove that the heat treatment has only a modest influence on the increase of the carbon monoxide yield, and its influence on the effective heat of combustion significantly depends on the heat flux density.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that a simple anisotropic model of supercooled liquid properly reflects some density scaling properties observed for experimental data, contrary to many previous results obtained from isotropic models. We employ a well-known Gay–Berne model earlier parametrized to achieve a supercooling and glass transition at zero pressure to find the point of glass transition and explore volumetric and dynamic properties in the supercooled liquid state at elevated pressure. We focus on dynamic scaling properties of the anisotropic model of supercooled liquid to gain a better insight into the grounds for the density scaling idea that bears hallmarks of universality, as follows from plenty of experimental data collected near the glass transition for different dynamic quantities. As a result, the most appropriate values of the scaling exponent γ are established as invariants for a given anisotropy aspect ratio to successfully scale both the translational and rotational relaxation times considered as single variable functions of densityγ/temperature. These scaling exponent values are determined based on the density scaling criterion and differ from those obtained in other ways, such as the virial–potential energy correlation and the equation of state derived from the effective short-range intermolecular potential, which is qualitatively in accordance with the results yielded from experimental data analyses. Our findings strongly suggest that there is a deep need to employ anisotropic models in the study of glass transition and supercooled liquids instead of the isotropic ones very commonly exploited in molecular dynamics simulations of supercooled liquids over the last decades.  相似文献
