A channel equalisation scheme for chirped-pulse wavelength-division-multiplexing (CPWDM) is described and implemented. The equalisation is realised using a simple feed-forward circuit that dynamically varies the loss of the modulator, which is used to sequentially encode channels in CPWDM to actively adjust the channel strengths. A 50% increase in the number of channels within 3 dB power variation is achieved for our laser spectrum  相似文献

A receiver targeting OC-48 (2.488 Gb/s) serial data link has been designed and integrated in a 0.8-μm CMOS process. An experimental receiving front-end circuit demonstrates the viability of using multiple phased clocks to overcome the intrinsic gate-speed limitations in the demultiplexing (receiving) and multiplexing (transmitting) of serial data. To perform clock recovery, data is 3× oversampled so that transitions can be detected to determine bit boundaries. The design of a transmitter for the high-speed serial data is also described. Nanostructuring is known to be an effective method to improve thermoelectric performance but, generally, it requires complex procedures and much labor. In the present study, self-assembled nanometer-sized composite structures of silicon (Si) and chromium disilicide (CrSi2) were easily fabricated by the rapid solidification of a melt with a eutectic composition. Ribbon-like samples were obtained with a dominant nanostructure of fine aligned lamellae with a spacing range of 20–35 nm. The thermoelectric power factor of the ribbon was observed to be 1.2 mW/mK2 at room temperature and reached 3.0 mW/mK2 at 773 K. The thermal conductivity was 65% lower than that of a bulk eutectic sample. The results suggest that this method is promising for fabricating an effective nanostructure for thermoelectric performance.  相似文献

The preliminary results of mode measurement in the ITER relevant 40 m long transmission test line composed from 63.5 mm diameter corrugated waveguides and miter bends are presented. The field patterns were measured by taking temperature profiles on a paper screen placed in front of the waveguide end using an infrared imaging camera. The complex electric field at the waveguide end was retrieved from the measured temperature profiles. As a result, the transmission power includes 87% of HE11 mode and 6% of LP11 odd (HE21+TE01) mode and small ratios of other modes. The mode content had small dependence on length of the transmission line. This result indicated that the higher order mode content generated at the input of the transmission line is conserved and propagated through the transmission line. This suggests that the initial RF coupling to the waveguide is critical since it affects the launcher efficiency.  相似文献

We present two novel entropy-based measures that quantify sleep-stage transition dynamics (sleep structure) from polysomnogram derived hypnograms: Walsh spectral entropy (WSE) and Haar spectral entropy (HSE). These measures quantify patterns of temporal regularity of a categorical time series without requiring numerical encoding (scaling) of the (categorical) sleep stages. Additionally, we show that conditional entropy (CE) is well suited for quantifying predictability of the hypnogram. The relationship of those measures with traditional sleep fragmentation indices (arousal index, total sleep time, and sleep efficiency) is explored for a 394 participant sample of the Cleveland Family Study, an epidemiologic study in which standardized single-night polysomnogram data were collected. The new entropy-based sleep structure measures (WSE, HSE, and CE) are positively correlated (moderate to weak) with the traditional sleep fragmentation indices. Because the sleep structure measures developed in this paper provide direct information related to temporal patterns of sleep that is not contained in traditional sleep fragmentation measures, the correlation between these new alternative sleep structure measures and the traditional sleep fragmentation measures is less important. Our goal is not to develop alternative measures that correlate highly with traditional measures of sleep fragmentation, but rather to provide methods to quantify sleep structure by examining other (e.g., dynamic sleep-stage transition) properties of the hypnogram. Additionally, the relationship of the new entropy-based and traditional measures with daytime sleepiness as quantified by the Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS) is investigated. Multiple linear regression analysis shows that WSE has a stronger relationship with ESS than the traditional measures, even after both are adjusted for common confounders (age, race, gender, and body mass index). This further suggests that the entropy-based measures, especially WSE, are capturing additional temporal patterns of sleep not captured in the traditional sleep fragmentation measures, and have a relationship with daytime sleepiness.  相似文献

Mobile computing is the way of the future, as evident by such initiatives as Bluetooth, Iceberg and HomeRF. However, for mobile computing to be successful, an obvious layer, the MAC layer, must be efficient in channel access and reservation. Therefore, in-depth understanding is needed of the wireless MAC layer if wireless computing is to takeoff. Many random access wireless MAC protocols have been proposed and even standardized. However, there has yet been an attempt to understand why certain designs are used and what makes certain protocols better than others. In this paper, we survey several popular, contemporary, wireless, random access MAC protocols and determine the effects behind the design choices of these protocols.  相似文献
