手写体汉字变形规律的机器发现

手写汉字的不规整是手写汉字的一个主要特点，也是影响识别率的一个重要因素。利用机器发现的方法，从大量手写体汉字样本中寻求手写汉字变形的一般规律，并将变形规律应用手汉字识别的过程之中，可以大大提高分类的准确性，并可以压缩样本字典的容量，提高匹配速度。

Restoring subsampled color images

In some capturing devices, such as digital cameras, there is only one color sensor at each pixel. Usually, 50% of the pixels have only a green sensor, 25% only a red sensor, and 25% only a blue sensor. The problem is then to restore the two missing colors at each pixel – this is called “demosaicing”, because the original samples are usually arranged in a mosaic pattern. In this short paper, a few demosaicing algorithms are developed and compared. They all incorporate a notion of “smoothness in chroma space”, by imposing conditions not only on the behavior of each color channel separately, but also on the correlation between the three channels.     

More on the distance distribution of BCH codes

We derive a new estimate for the error term in the binomial approximation to the distance distribution of BCH codes. This is an improvement on the earlier bounds by Kasami-Fujiwara-Lin (1985), Vladuts-Skorobogatov (1991), and Krasikov-Litsyn (1995)

A class of array codes correcting multiple column erasures

A family of binary array codes of size (p-1)×n, with p a prime, correcting multiple column erasures is proposed. The codes coincide with a subclass of shortened Reed-Solomon codes and achieve the maximum possible correcting capability. Complexity of encoding and decoding is proportional to rnp, where r is the number of correctable erasures, i.e., is simpler than the Forney decoding algorithm. The length n of the codes is at most 2p-1, that is, twice as big as the length of the Blaum-Roth codes having comparable decoding complexity

Severe reversible cardiomyopathy associated with systemic vasculitis in primary Sj?gren''s syndrome

A dermal substitute was used for wound management and after early scar release on a 4-year-old child with mostly full thickness burns covering 60 per cent of the body surface. The biosynthetic material (INTEGRA Artificial Skin) consists of an upper silicone film and a lower layer of porous cross-linked collagen and chondroitin-6-sulfate as a template for dermal regeneration. Eight sheets each 4 x 10 in. were used to cover the patient's whole trunk after staged tangential necrectomy. In the third and fourth weeks following application the silicone layer was easily removed and the newly formed dermis covered with widely meshed, thin split-thickness autograft. Seven weeks after admission an early neck contracture was released and the skin defect also covered with INTEGRA Artificial Skin. Following the same principle, transplantation of the thin unmeshed autograft was performed successfully 3 weeks later. The good results regarding handling, final take, apparent initial scar reduction, and early recovery may favourably effect initial treatment and reconstruction planning after extensive full-thickness burn injuries.
