The coherent coupling of radiation modes in symmetric single-mode Y-junction excited by a single mode fiber is studied in this work. Using the bpm (beam propagation method) we find that the power splitting between the two outputs of the junction depends strongly on the fiber displacement with respect to the junction axis of symmetry. A GaAs/GaAlAs single mode junction is tested and the experimental measurements show a splitting ratio as high as 12 dB that could not be explained if the radiation field is neglected. The experimental results confirm the theoretical predictions that take into account the propagation of radiation modes in the structure. These results propose the structure to be used as an integrated optical displacement sensor with a sensitivity in the order of 5 dB/μm and a dynamic range within 4 to 5 μm. 相似文献

Satellites represent a solution for Internet access in locations with no other telecom infrastructures, for example, on high mobility platforms such as planes, ships or high‐speed trains, or for disaster recovery applications. However, due to peculiar characteristics, satellite networks are prone to different security threats. In this paper, we introduce a novel, robust security architecture for securing digital video broadcasting‐return channel via satellite satellite networks, inspired by the robust security mechanism available in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) 802.11i wireless local area network. We propose an efficient authentication and key management mechanism, which is exploited through three round‐trips only, demonstrating that it is as secure as IEEE 802.11i. Furthermore, the simulation results show that the proposed security framework needs a very small data overhead and shows better performance than internet protocol security (IPSec), which is commonly used as an end‐to‐end security solution over internet protocol satellite networks. operation of this unique structure is discussed, its most important formulas are derived and its outstanding performance is
verified by HSPICE simulation in TSMC 0.18 μm CMOS, BSIM3, and Level49 technology. Owing to the elaborately arranged components,
the proposed circuit demonstrates very high frequency bandwidth, extremely high CMRR, high output impedance, and true rail
to rail output voltage swing range while operating at very low power supply of ±0.5 V. The interesting results such as current
drive capability of ±1 mA, high output impedance of 5 GΩ, wide gain bandwidth of 220 MHz, extremely high output voltage swing
of ±0.45 V, which interestingly provides the highest yet reported output voltage compliance for current mode building blocks
implemented by regular CMOS technology, low static power consumption of 159 μW, and very high CMRR of 155 dB is achieved utilizing
standard CMOS technology. Full process, voltage, and temperature variation analysis of the circuit is also investigated in

Since computer networks play an important role in distributed computing environments, an application's performance depends heavily on the quality of service provided by the communication networks. To ensure a high performance, the characteristics of wide area networks, WANs, must be well understood. This paper presents methodologies to characterize WAN traffic based on real measurements from Bellcore's backbone network that connects remote sites using dedicated T1 links. This paper also suggests some workload models that can be used for wide area network sizing and performance evaluation studies. It is found that the inter-site traffic pattern depends on the time of the day and the day of the week. Furthermore, the traffic between two sites is found to be reasonably symmetric, except for those sites designated as back-up sites. The coefficient of variation is used as a measure for the traffic burstiness and it is found to be 1·5 degree during working hours. The methods presented here are easy to use and cost-effective. 相似文献

In this paper, we examine the impact of antenna correlation on transmit antenna selection with receive maximal ratio combining (TAS/MRC) in multiple‐input multiple‐output multiuser underlay cognitive radio network (MIMO‐MCN) over a Nakagami‐m fading environment. The secondary network under consideration consists of a single source and M destinations equipped with multiple correlated antennas at each node. The primary network composed of L primary users, each of which is equipped with multiple correlated antennas. For the considered underlay spectrum sharing paradigm, the transmission power of the proposed secondary system is limited by the peak interference limit on the primary network and the maximum transmission power at the secondary network. In particular, we derive exact closed‐form expressions for the outage probability and average symbol error rate of the proposed secondary system. To gain further insights, simple asymptotic closed‐form expressions for the outage probability and symbol error rate are provided to obtain the achievable diversity order and coding gain of the system. In addition, the impact of antenna correlation on the secondary user ergodic capacity has been investigated by deriving closed‐form expressions for the secondary user capacity. In this work, five methods for measuring the thickness of ultra-thin gate oxide layers in MOS structures were compared experimentally on n+ poly-SiO2-p-Si structures. Three methods are based on electrical capacitance-voltage (C-V) and current-voltage (I-V) data and the other two methods are HRTEM and optical measurement. MOS capacitors with oxide thickness in the range 17-55 Å have been used in this study. We found that thickness extracted using QM C-V and HRTEM agree within 1.0 Å over the whole thickness range when a dielectric constant of 3.9 was used. Comparison between thickness extracted using quantum interference (QI) I-V technique and optical measurement were also within 1.0 Å for thickness 31-47 Å. However, optical oxide thickness was consistently lower than the TEM thickness by about 2 Å over the thickness range under consideration. We compute the random coding error exponent for coded modulation transmitted over a flat, memoryless, Rayleigh fading channel. In addition, estimates of code lengths required to achieve a certain error probability are determined and compared to those required for the additive white Gaussian noise channel. Finally, the effect of receiver antenna diversity is also considered as a method to compensate for fading and is shown to have a significant, positive impact on the error exponent. Resource scheduling in Long Term Evolution (LTE) is an open and rising issue. It has an enormous impact on the entire system performance. Due to the nature of LTE system, the scheduler has to be designed carefully. It has to overcome many challenges such as limited processing time and the high dynamic behavior. This paper proposes a novel scheduling policy for the MAC layer in LTE called the Best Minimum Summation (BMS). The main aim of this scheduling policy is to achieve high performance with low complexity. Three sub-schedulers have been developed. Each one of these schedulers deals with scheduling table in different dimension. The first one operates on the scheduling table through the user dimension (BMS.UE); while the second one operates on the scheduling table through the resource block dimension (BMS.RB). The third scheduler operates on the scheduling table correlating both of these dimensions (BMS.2D). All of the proposed solutions were intensively evaluated in a system level simulator. Three performance metrics were used which are throughput, error rate and fairness. The results have shown that the ability of the BMS.UE scheduler to outperform other existing schedulers of LTE. 相似文献
