This paper describes a design methodology for piezoelectric energy harvesters that thinly encapsulate the mechanical devices and exploit resonances from higher-order vibrational modes. The direction of polarization determines the sign of the piezoelectric tensor to avoid cancellations of electric fields from opposite polarizations in the same circuit. The resultant modified equations of state are solved by finite element method (FEM). Combining this method with the solid isotropic material with penalization (SIMP) method for piezoelectric material, we have developed an optimization methodology that optimizes the piezoelectric material layout and polarization direction. Updating the density function of the SIMP method is performed based on sensitivity analysis, the sequential linear programming on the early stage of the optimization, and the phase field method on the latter stage of the optimization to obtain clear optimal shapes without intermediate density. Purpose: To exploit the potential of proteomics to identify and study additional yet‐unidentified important proteins present in human endometrium. Experimental design: The proteome of human endometrium would be established using 2‐DE and MALDI and the data analyzed to identify differential protein expression in the proliferative and secretory phase of the menstrual cycle using PDQuest software and MALDI. Results: In the present work, 2‐DE of human endometrium protein led to the resolution of over 200 spots. Subsequent MALDI analysis of 215 spots allowed the identification of 194 proteins. A total of 57 out of the 215 spots were found to be differentially expressed, out of which 49 could be identified using MALDI. These differentially expressed proteins included structural proteins, molecular chaperones, signaling proteins, metabolic proteins, proteins related to immunity, RNA biogenesis, protein biosynthesis and others. The differential expressions of seven representative proteins in secretory and proliferative phase endometrium tissue were confirmed by immunoblot analysis. Conclusion and clinical relevance: This study establishes the 2‐D proteome of human endometrium represented by 194 identified protein spots. The present data provides an important clue towards determining the function of these proteins with respect to endometrium related diseases. 相似文献

The design clue for the remote control of a mobile robot is inspired by the Talwar's brain-machine interface technology for remotely training and controlling rats. Our biologically inspired autonomous robot control consciousness-based architecture (CBA) is used for the remote control of a robot as a substitute for a rat. CBA is a developmental hierarchy model of the relationship between consciousness and behavior, including a training algorithm. This training algorithm computes a shortcut path to a goal using a cognitive map created based on behavior obstructions during a single successful trial. However, failures in reaching the goal due to errors of the vision and dead reckoning sensors require human intervention to improve autonomous navigation. A human operator remotely intervenes in autonomous behaviors in two ways: low-level intervention in reflexive actions and high-level ones in the cognitive map. Experiments are conducted to test CBA functions for intervention with a joystick for a Khepera robot navigating from the center of a square obstacle with an open side toward a goal. Their statistical results show that both human interventions, especially high-level ones, are effective in drastically improving the success rate of autonomous detours. 相似文献

We solve the light transport problem by introducing a novel unbiased Monte Carlo algorithm called replica exchange light transport, inspired by the replica exchange Monte Carlo method in the fields of computational physics and statistical information processing. The replica exchange Monte Carlo method is a sampling technique whose operation resembles simulated annealing in optimization algorithms using a set of sampling distributions. We apply it to the solution of light transport integration by extending the probability density function of an integrand of the integration to a set of distributions. That set of distributions is composed of combinations of the path densities of different path generation types: uniform distributions in the integral domain, explicit and implicit paths in light (particle/photon) tracing, indirect paths in bidirectional path tracing, explicit and implicit paths in path tracing, and implicit caustics paths seen through specular surfaces including the delta function in path tracing. The replica‐exchange light transport algorithm generates a sequence of path samples from each distribution and samples the simultaneous distribution of those distributions as a stationary distribution by using the Markov chain Monte Carlo method. Then the algorithm combines the obtained path samples from each distribution using multiple importance sampling. We compare the images generated with our algorithm to those generated with bidirectional path tracing and Metropolis light transport based on the primary sample space. Our proposing algorithm has better convergence property than bidirectional path tracing and the Metropolis light transport, and it is easy to implement by extending the Metropolis light transport. 相似文献

A quantitative method of a posteriori error estimation based on finite element solutions is developed. The proposed method can estimate the error of solutions obtained by the finite element method for two-dimensional elastic problems with 4-node elements. Since the error is estimated element by element, the proposed method does not require a large memory or long computing time. Not only rectangular elements but also arbitrarily shaped 4-node elements can be used in this method for estimating the error in the finite element computation with high accuracy. The finite element solutions are improved by adding the estimated errors onto the original solutions. Accurate measurements of the total number of muons in an air shower are important for the discrimination of showers produced by astronomical gamma rays from those produced by protons. In order to perform this discrimination, muon detectors with a total area of about 400 m2 have been constructed in the Ohya stone mine. At ground level, scintillation detectors have been distributed for determining the total number of electrons in the air shower. The arrival direction of the air shower determined by usual timing information was examined using independent data on the arrival direction determined by muons in the shower. The angular resolution thus obtained at the shower maximum is 1.7° in the south-north plane and 2° in the east-west plane. The difference of the resolution is due to the asymmetric arrangement of scintillation detectors. 相似文献

Quantum distributions of protons in three high-pressure phases of solid molecular hydrogen are investigated by the first-principles path integral molecular dynamics (FP-PIMD) method, in which interatomic forces are calculated precisely based on the density functional theory. The distributions have entirely different symmetries from those predicted by conventional simulation with classical treatment of protons. Especially in phase II, we found that molecular rotation is hindered by quantum fluctuation of protons, having a strong resemblance to a quantum distribution of impurity muonium in crystalline silicon. The mechanism of this “quantum localization” is clarified by a detailed study of the potential energy surface for the molecular rotation. 相似文献
