Microcantilevers, one of the most common MEMS structures, have been introduced as a novel sensing paradigm nearly a decade ago. Ever since, the technology has emerged to find important applications in chemical, biological and physical sensing areas. Today the technology stands at the verge of providing the next generation of sophisticated sensors (such as artificial nose, artificial tongue) with extremely high sensitivity and miniature size. The article provides an overview of the modes of detection, theory behind the transduction mechanisms, materials employed as active layers, and some of the important applications. In a 9-y prospective study, the occurrence and duration of lung volume abnormalities in 21 young asthmatic children (median age at recruitment 4 y, range 3-8 y) was determined. The median functional residual capacity (FRC) at recruitment was 135% of that predicted for height (range 79-187%) and 13 children were hyperinflated. The median FRC decreased significantly after 3 y of follow-up and by 9 y only one child remained hyperinflated. We conclude that persistent elevation of lung volume in young asthmatic children appears to be uncommon. 相似文献

The reversible polymerization of nylon 6 including ring opening, polycondensation, polyaddition, and cyclization reactions as well as the reaction with monofunctional acids was simulated for an isothermal batch reactor at 235°C. The cyclic oligomer concentrations, the molecular weight distributions, and its moments have been computed using a chain length-dependent equilibrium constant for the cyclization reaction. The scope and limitations of aluminum chloride bound to polystyrene matrix as an initiator in carbenium ion polymerizations have been studied and compared with the performance of free aluminum chloride in homogeneous solutions. Four types of cements, including a shrinkage compensating cement, were used in an investigation to determine their influence on the accelerated compressive strength and modified cube strength. It was concluded that a 24-hour modified boiling water method can be used for estimating the normal 28-day cylinder compressive strength and modified cube strength with a high degree of correlation. It is shown that the type of cement must be considered in order to obtain a higher correlation coefficient and a lower error of estimate. Dispersion of nanoclay (NC) in polymer blend system is governed by the sequence of addition of different ingredients. In the present work nanoclay was added in different sequences to blend composition such as ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/low density polyethylene (LDPE) and ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVAl)/LDPE in internal mixer to get nanocomposite. It was found that sequential addition of individual polymers and nanoclay influenced mechanical properties of resulting composites. Blending sequence of PE/NC/EVA and PE/NC/EVAl gave best mechanical properties. After optimization of addition sequence, concentration of nanoclay was varied from 1 to 8% by weight in the polymer blend. The resulting composites were evaluated in terms of their mechanical properties, dispersion characteristics (XRD), water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) and water absorption (Wa). Nanocomposite containing EVA/LDPE blend with 4% nanoclay showed optimum properties. The optimized composition was applied on grit blasted mild steel specimens by flame spray technique. The coated specimens were evaluated for adhesion strength, abrasion resistance and resistance to corrosion properties. 相似文献

1-Nitro-3,3'-dinitroazetidine (TNAZ) was synthesized based on the lines of reported method. Thermolysis studies on synthesized and characterized TNAZ using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and hyphenated TG-FT-IR techniques were undertaken to generate data on decomposition pattern. FT-IR of decomposition products of TNAZ revealed the evolution of oxides of nitrogen and HCN containing species suggesting the cleavage of C/N-NO(2) bond accompanied with the collapse of ring structure. The effect of incorporation of 15% additives namely, 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole (AT), 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole (DAT), carbohydrazide (CHZ), 5,7-dinitrobenzofuroxan (DNBF), bis (2,2-dinitropropyl) succinate (BNPS), triaminoguanidinium nitrate (TAGN), 2,4,6-trinitrobenzoic acid (TNBA) and nitroguanidine (NQ) on the volatility of TNAZ was investigated by undertaking thermogravimetric analysis. The TG pattern brings out the potential of BNPS and TAGN as additives to mitigate the volatility of TNAZ. The influence of additives on thermal decomposition of pattern of TNAZ was also investigated by DSC. The DSC results indicated that the additives did not have appreciable effect on the melting point of TNAZ. Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) studies were carried out to investigate the effect of additives on morphology of TNAZ. This paper also discusses the possible mechanism involved in between the TNAZ and TAGN and BNPS. It appears that the formation of charge transfer complex formation between the TNAZ and TAGN/BNPS. The effect of addition of high explosives such as CL-20, HMX and RDX on thermo-physical characteristics of TNAZ is also reported in this paper. 相似文献
