In this article, free space capacitance of dielectric‐coated conducting curvilinear surfaces is obtained using method of moments (MOM). The surfaces are discretized using triangular subsections. The curvilinear surfaces are represented by quadratic parametric elements. The MOM based on the pulse basis function and point matching is used. The integrand is divided into a regular and a singular part. The regular part of the integral is numerically evaluated by using the Gaussian quadrature algorithm for triangles. The Duffy transformation is used to evaluate the singular part of the integrals. Computed results are given for the capacitance of the dielectric‐coated conducting cylinder of finite axial length and truncated cone, and compared with the previously published results. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Dysfluency and stuttering are a break or interruption of normal speech such as repetition, prolongation, interjection of syllables, sounds, words or phrases and involuntary silent pauses or blocks in communication. Stuttering assessment through manual classification of speech dysfluencies is subjective, inconsistent, time consuming and prone to error. This paper proposes an objective evaluation of speech dysfluencies based on the wavelet packet transform with sample entropy features. Dysfluent speech signals are decomposed into six levels by using wavelet packet transform. Sample entropy (SampEn) features are extracted at every level of decomposition and they are used as features to characterize the speech dysfluencies (stuttered events). Three different classifiers such as k-nearest neighbor (kNN), linear discriminant analysis (LDA) based classifier and support vector machine (SVM) are used to investigate the performance of the sample entropy features for the classification of speech dysfluencies. 10-fold cross validation method is used for testing the reliability of the classifier results. The effect of different wavelet families on the classification performance is also performed. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed features and classification algorithms give very promising classification accuracy of 96.67% with the standard deviation of 0.37 and also that the proposed method can be used to help speech language pathologist in classifying speech dysfluencies. 相似文献

The microstructure of a pulsed Nd:YAG laser weld in a rapid solidification/powder metallurgy (RS/PM) Al-8.0 wt.% Fe-2.3 wt.% Mo (Al---8Fe---2Mo) alloy was investigated using light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. This analysis revealed significant microstructure variations across the weld fusion zone (FZ). Near the fusion boundary, a light-etching FZ microstructure was observed to contain submicron dispersoids “entrapped” in a matrix of fine-sized dendritic alpha aluminum. At the center of the FZ, the presence of relatively coarse-sized intermetallic particles that served as growth centers for coarser dendritic alpha aluminum promoted a dark-etching microstructure. In the boundary between successive melt zones, both a heat-affected zone (HAZ) containing acicular dispersoids and a fusion boundary region (FBR) containing irregular-shaped particles in a coarse-grained dendritic alpha aluminum matrix were observed. A HAZ comprised of slightly coarsened dispersoids was also observed in the base metal bounding the FZ. Knoop hardness traverses across the FZ indicated a maximum hardness of KHN 260 in the light-etching FZ and a minimum hardness of KHN 135 in the HAZ between successive melt zones. 相似文献

The Enskog modulus, bρ x, has been subjected to a generalized treatment to develop reduced state correlations for nonpolar and polar substances that exhibit hydrogen bonding. These correlations present relationships between 1 + bρx and ρR, the reduced density. For nonpolar substances, the PVT data of argon, nitrogen, methane, ethane, and carbon dioxide were used for the development of these relationships, which were found to depend on zc, the critical compressibility factor. PVT data for ammonia, methyl alcohol, and water yielded a different correlation, which is applicable to polar substances which exhibit hydrogen bonding. These relationships were found to depend on the parameter, β = (Tb-Tm)/M, which quantitatively describes the extent of hydrogen bonding for polar compounds. 相似文献

A method to rapidly measure the group velocities (or their inverse, slownesses) of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) in anisotropic materials is presented. Surface acoustic waves are generated using a pulsed laser focused to a point on a test object. A newly developed multiplexed two-wave mixing (MTWM) interferometer is used to simultaneously detect the SAW displacements along eight different directions using a circular array of detection points. The group velocity slowness curve is obtained directly from the measured signals from the MTWM array. In this article, we have established the homotopy analysis method (HAM) for solving a few partial differential equations arising in engineering. This technique provides the solutions in rapid convergence series with computable terms for the problems with high degree of nonlinear terms appearing in the governing differential equations. Tuned ring oscillators are used to generate multiple phases of a sinusoid for a variety of applications including phased- array transceivers and clock and data recovery circuits. A variable-phase ring oscillator (VPRO) is presented that generates outputs with a controllable phase progression, enabling its use in a compact low-power single-chip phased-array transceiver architecture. The VPRO functionality is shown to be robust with respect to process and layout mismatches. This enables the implementation of integrated phased arrays with acceptable array performance even in the absence of mismatch calibration circuitry, which are essential in other phase-shifterless schemes such as coupled oscillator arrays. A prototype 24-GHz four-channel single-chip phased-array transceiver implemented in a 0.13-mum CMOS process is presented to validate these claims. 相似文献

Cutting tool temperature distribution was mapped using the IR-CCD technique during machining of carbon steel AISI 3115 and stainless steel AISI 316L under orthogonal cutting conditions using flat-face geometry inserts. The effect of work material treatment on tool temperature was investigated, and the results showed that AISI 3115 in heat-treated state displayed higher tool temperature than the as-rolled state. Stainless steel 316L with high sulphur content (0.027?wt.%) and calcium treatment displayed lower cutting tool temperature than the variant with low sulphur (0.009?wt.%). The experimental results were compared with theoretical tool temperature distributions based on a modified version of Komanduri and Hou??s analytical model. This paper presents a developed dielectric-barrier-discharge-based "sniffer" that offers unique characteristics not available from other techniques. It is a portable, highly specific, and sensitive detector that operates at atmospheric pressure. It provides both molecular and elemental information on organic and inorganic gases and particulate aerosols. Measurements were made to electrically characterize the plasma and calculate the energy coupled into the plasma. We created a signature database for diverse chemicals based on the atomic and diatomic emission spectrum that serves to classify the compound and ideally recognize it by composition with the optical emission intensity corresponding to concentration. For some operational regimes and species, emission from OH (A(2)Σ(+)-X(2)Π), CH (A(2)Δ-X(2)Π), and often C(2) (d(3)Π(g)-a(3)Π(u); Swan band system) diatomic radicals is produced. Limits of detection extend to parts per billion (ppb) levels for some species such as decane, 2-decanol, and nitrobenzene. Results are presented for differentiation of classes of organic compounds such as alkanes, aromatics, oxygenates, chlorinated, and nitrogen-containing organic compounds. 相似文献
