Herein, electrically conductive natural and synthetic yarns through electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technique were fabricated. A parametric study on the conductivity enhancement of the yarns is carried out by Taguchi method. Using this method, the desirable conditions are determined by studying the effects of important parameters on the electrical conductivity of the yarns in the EPD coating process. Based on the L18 design of experiments table, the preferred combination of factors to obtain the highest electrical conductivity of the yarns is found by Taguchi analysis. In addition, the Pareto ANOVA analysis is conducted to identify the major contributing factors on the electrical conductivity of the yarns. Characterisation techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) in attenuated total reflectance (ATR) mode, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) are utilised for better understanding the microstructure and physical properties. When powered by only 3 V, the maximum temperature of a Joule heated conductive sample based on natural fibre yarns reached 102°C in less than 25 s. 相似文献

This study evaluated the effects of dietary supplementation of gamma-Linolenic acid (18:3n-6, GLA) on the lipid profile of serum and other tissues of rats fed erucic acid (C22:1) rich oil like mustard oil. The rats were fed diet containing 20% mustard oil as erucic acid rich oil and 20% groundnut oil as dietary fat. These groups were kept as reference groups. Another group fed diet containing 20% fat to which evening primrose oil as a source of GLA was blended with mustard oil and groundnut oil at 5% level. The feeding experiment was done for 4 weeks. In another set mustard oil fed group was kept as control while the experimental group was fed evening primrose oil as a source of GLA blended with mustard oil at 2.5% level. The feeding experiment was carried out for 12 weeks. The other dietary components remained same for all the groups. After the scheduled feeding period, it was found that there was no significant change in weight gain, food intake and food efficiency ratio. It was found that dietary GLA resulted in significant decrease in serum triglyceride (TG) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol and significant increase in high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol in serum in the experimental group. This study concerns the preparation and evaluation of nonionic surfactants prepared from polyethylene glycol (PEG) esters of castor oil fatty acid, a source of hydroxy fatty acid. A lipase-catalyzed esterification reaction has been employed to prepare PEG esters of hydroxy acid to overcome problems associated with chemical processes. Castor oil fatty acid (85% ricinoleic acid) was mixed with PEG of different molecular weight. Rhizomucor miehei lipase was added as catalyst (10% level) and the reaction was continued at 60°C under 2 mm Hg pressure for 360 min. Conversion of PEG to esters was in the range of 86–94%, depending on the molecular size of PEG. The products were isolated and examined for surface activity by surface tension measurement. Black tea fermentation is essentially an oxidation process. After the plucked tea leaves are treated by series of processes called withering (removal of moisture by air flow), pre-conditioning and CTC (essentially maceration and cutting of leaves), the leaves are subjected to the process of fermentation by exposing them to air by laying the cut tea leaves on floor, trough or moving conveyor under controlled temperature, humidity and air-flow conditions. During this process, the leaves change colour from green to coppery brown and the grassy smell gets transformed to floral smell. It is critical that the leaves be allowed to ferment only up to the desired limit and both under and over fermentation result in deteriorated quality of black tea. Out of the two detectable parameters (colour and smell), smell is very important since a strong, very specific fragrance emanates from the leaves once leaves are optimally fermented. A new electronic nose-based approach for monitoring of tea aroma during fermentation is proposed. Rapid growth in electricity demand in Thailand is a major challenge for electric utilities trying to ensure adequate supply. Continued reliance on natural gas for power supply makes the supply mix non-diversified and exposes the country to supply risks while a diversification to other fossil fuels imposes additional environmental burdens. To find an acceptable solution to this twin challenge, this paper assesses four scenarios of electricity capacity expansion planning for Thailand for the period between 2011 and 2025 under two different assumptions of fuel prices to reflect the case of international high oil price affecting cost of fuels for power generation in Thailand. It is found that the lowest environmental emissions are obtained from the scenario where power generation is highly dominated by natural gas. In contrast, the least cost electricity generation is achieved from the case if nuclear power plant is added into the Thai power system. Reliance on natural gas for power generation increases the spending on gas purchase as a share of the gross domestic product (GDP)—between 2.38% and 3.61% of (GDP). In addition, fuel import dependence, particularly for natural gas and coal, increases exposing the country to possible price volatility. 相似文献

Fe-embedded multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were fabricated using Fe-catalyst by the chemical deposition method. Microscopic characterizations showed that the well-aligned MWCNTs were ~ 80 mm in length, with outer diameter of 20–50 nm and inner diameter of 10–20 nm. Magnetic properties were characterized in temperatures of 5 K and 305 K, which revealed that the MWCNTs exhibited high coercivity of 2600 Oe at 5 K and 732 Oe at 305 K. These values are much higher than that of bulk iron (~ 0.9 Oe) and Fe/Co/Ni nanoparticles or nano-wire arrays (~ 200–500 Oe) at the room temperature. This high coercivity and the structure of single-domain Fe nanoparticles isolated by anti-ferromagnetic MWCNTs make it a promising candidate for low-dimensional high-density magnetic recording media. 相似文献

Thermal instability in a horizontal layer of fluid, with the boundary temperatures modulated sinusoidally in time, is studied.
The amplitude of modulation is assumed small and is used as an expansion parameter. It is shown that an exact solution can
be obtained, even when the boundaries are considered to be rigid. When only the lower boundary temperature is modulated, for
small values of the Prandtl number modulation is always stabilizing, while for large values it can be stabilizing or destabilizing
depending on the modulation frequency. When both boundary temperatures are modulated in phase, modulation is destabilizing
for low modulation frequency, but for higher modulation frequency stabilization occurs for low values of the Prandtl number.

The thermal behaviors of cellulose acetate, either grafted or ungrafted, were studied. A thermogram of cellulose acetate when grafted with acrylamide is characterized by an endothermic peak at 340°C. If, however, styrene is grafted, the thermogram shows two characteristic exothermic peaks at 330 and 420°C. A thermogram of the mixed graft comprising both acrylamide and styrene, on the other hand, is characterized by only one exothermic peak at 420°C. A consideration of various thermal data indicates that cellulose acetate when grafted is comparatively more stable than when not grafted. Abstract Ex-situ grown thin films of SrBi2Nb2O9 (SBN) were deposited on platinum substrates using laser ablation technique. A low substrate-temperature-processing route was chosen to avoid any diffusion of bismuth into the Pt electrode. It was observed that the as grown films showed an oriented growth along the ′c′-axis (with zero spontaneous polarization). The as grown films were subsequently annealed to enhance crystallization. Upon annealing, these films transformed into a polycrystalline structure, and exhibited excellent ferroelectric properties. The switching was made to be possible by lowering the thickness without losing the electrically insulating behavior of the films. The hysteresis results showed an excellent square-shaped loop with results (Pr = 4 uC/cm2; Ec = 90 kV/cm) in good agreement with the earlier reports. The films also exhibited a dielectric constant of 190 and a dissipation factor of 0.02, which showed dispersion at low frequencies. The frequency dispersion was found to obey Jonscher's universal power law relation, and was attributed to the ionic charge hopping process according to earlier reports. The dc transport studies indicated an ohmic behavior in the low voltage region, while higher voltages induced a bulk space charge and resulted in non-linear current-voltage dependence. 相似文献
