This study provides information on the long-term evolutions of the atmospheric methane (CH4) concentrations in Nagoya City, Japan, which were analyzed by using the continuous monitoring data observed at the eight observatory stations for 1983-1997. The 15-year records of the atmospheric CH4 concentrations were examined by means of a time-series analysis using a fast Fourier transform with a low-pass filter to elucidate the seasonal cycles and the long-term trends. The annual averages of the CH4 concentrations in Nagoya were 1.85 ppmv (parts per million by volume), 1.91 ppmv, and 1.90 ppmv in 1988, 1995 and 1997, respectively. Moreover, the annual average growth rate showed a drastic decrease from 17 ppbv (parts per billion by volume) year(-1) in 1992 to 2 ppbv year(-1) in 1993, and further down to 7 ppbv year(-1) in 1997. Comparison of the atmospheric CH4 records in Nagoya with those in global air of the northern hemisphere observed at Mauna Loa observatory in Hawaii, USA, allows us to estimate the excess concentration of CH4 in the urban atmosphere of Nagoya, which was 0.17 ppmv in 1988 and 0.15 ppmv in 1997. On a local scale, the atmospheric CH4 concentrations in the northern part of Nagoya City increased until 1992 and then gradually decreased from 1993 to 1997, although those in the south-western urban areas constantly increased at the averaged growth rate of 13 ppbv year(-1) for 1988-1997. The variation of the long-term trends of the CH4 concentrations in Nagoya may be ascribed to the emission changes from the CH4 sources due to the human activities such as waste dumping and landfills.  相似文献

Two sulfotransferases (STs), designated as AST-RB1 (ST3A1) and AST-RB2 (ST2A8), with high a amine N-sulfonating activity, were purified from male rabbit liver cytosols. AST-RB1 and AST-RB2 were purified to homogeneity by the anion-exchange, affinity, and hydroxyapatite chromatography. The N-terminus of both enzymes were blocked. The subunit molecular mass of both enzymes was estimated to be 34 kDa on SDS-PAGE. AST-RB1 efficiently catalyzed N-sulfonation of alicyclic, alkyl, and arylamines such as 4-phenyl-1,2,3, 6-tetrahydropyridine, 1-[(5-chloro-2-oxo-3(2H)-benzothiazolyl)acetyl]-piperazine, desipramine, and aniline, whereas its catalytic activities toward 2-naphthol and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) were very low. On the other hand, AST-RB2 efficiently catalyzed sulfonation of desipramine and DHEA, but had no activity toward 2-naphthol. Amino acid sequences of peptide fragments derived from the purified AST-RB1 showed no significant homology with previously reported STs, but those from the purified AST-RB2 shared a high similarity with those of the ST2 family. Both enzymes were expressed specifically in the liver. The present results strongly suggest that the purified AST-RB1 is a novel enzyme in terms of structure and catalytic properties showing high selectivity for amine substrates, and AST-RB2 is a quite unique from among ST2A enzymes of other species in its substrate specificity.  相似文献

Photodegradation of incombustible polymer materials [high-density (HD) and low-density (LD) polyethylene (PE) containing 0.5 to 2.0 phr of decabromodiphenyl ether (DBDE) or tetrabromobisphenol A (TBA) as a flame retardant] were studied using an Okazaki Large Spectrograph (OLS). Samples were irradiated in air at 23°C with monochromatic light of wavelengths at 260, 280, 300, 320, 340, and 360 nm. Ultraviolet and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra were taken to estimate the chemical changes caused by photoirradiation. Molecular weight change was followed by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) measurements. It was found that the photostability of PE samples was reduced by the addition of flame retardants. The threshold wavelengths of photodegradation are 320 nm and 360 nm for PE–TBA samples and PE–DBDE samples, respectively. Main-chain scission is favored when the irradiation was carried out with the light of wavelength 300 nm for HDPE–DBDE and HDPE–TBA samples. The most effective irradiation wavelengths for crosslinking are found to be 300 nm and 280 nm for LDPE–DBDE and LDPE–TBA samples, respectively. 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A neutral lipid class was isolated by thin-layer chromatography from the skin surface lipids of the hairless mouse. The fraction migrated faster than triglycerides and had a migration rate similar to that of diacyl alkanediols (diester wax). Upon deacylation, however, the long-chain diols were identified as 1-alkylglycerol ethers based on their chromatographic properties and on the mass spectra of their nicotinylidene derivatives. Thus, the skin lipid fraction was identified as 1-O-alkyl-diacylglycerol. The alkyl moieties were all saturated and even-numbered and ranged in chainlength from C16 to C22 with 1-O-hexadecylglycerol amounting to 34% of the total glycerol ether moieties. The fatty acids derived from this lipid fraction were mostly monoenoic with chainlengths ranging from C16 to C24. The major acyl component was eicosenoic acid (20∶1) representing 61% of the total fatty acids.  相似文献

In order to develop environmentally friendly coloured materials, cellulose composite spherical microbeads hybridised with titanium dioxide (TiO2) particles and inorganic pigment were prepared by a phase-separation method using viscose and an aqueous solution containing sodium polyacrylate. Findings regarding the relationships between cellulose xanthate and the electronic characteristics of TiO2 particles used in the cellulose/inorganic material composite sphering process are also reported. These findings suggest that the location of TiO2 particles in cellulose microbeads is related to electrical repulsion between the xanthate (CSS) group and TiO2. The use of TiO2 powder as colour pigment is limited, as its colour is white. The cellulose composite spherical microbeads covered with TiO2 and Fe2O3 particles were developed by addition of iron oxide (Fe2O3). Their surfaces were viewed by laser microscope and using SEM images. These composite microbeads retained the photocatalytic property of TiO2. Cellulose/TiO2/Fe2O3 composite spherical microbeads with both colour function and photocatalytic properties were successfully prepared.  相似文献

In humans and animals, intestinal flora is indispensable for bile acid transformation. The goal of our study was to establish gnotobiotic mice with intestinal bacteria of human origin in order to examine the role of intestinal bacteria in the transformation of bile acids in vivo using the technique of gnotobiology. Eight strains of bile acid-deconjugating bacteria were isolated from ex-germ-free mice inoculated with a human fecal dilution of 10−6, and five strains of 7α-dehydroxylating bacteria were isolated from the intestine of limited human flora mice inoculated only with clostridia. The results of biochemical tests and 16S rDNA sequence analysis showed that seven out of eight bile acid-deconjugating strains belong to a bacteroides cluster (Bacteroides vulgatus, B. distasonis, and B. uniformis), and one strain had high similarity with Bilophila wadsworthia. All five strains that converted cholic acid to deoxycholic acid had greatest similarity with Clostridium hylemonae. A combination of 10 isolated strains converted taurocholic acid into deoxycholic acid both in vitro and in the mouse intestine. These results indicate that the predominant bacteria, mainly Bacteroides, in human feces comprise one of the main bacterial groups for the deconjugation of bile acids, and clostridia may play an important role in 7α-dehydroxylation of free-form primary bile acids in the intestine although these strains are not predominant. The gnotobiotic mouse with bacteria of human origin could be a useful model in studies of bile acid metabolism by human intestinal bacteria in vivo.  相似文献

Methyl eugenol (ME) is a natural phenylpropanoid highly attractive to oriental fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) males. The flies eagerly feed on ME and produce hydroxylated metabolites with both pheromonal and allomonal functions. Side-chain metabolic activation of ME has long been recognized as a primary reason for hepatocarcinogenicity of this compound on rodents. In an attempt to develop a safer alternative to ME for fruit fly management, we developed a fluorine analog 1,2-dimethoxy-4-(3-fluoro-2-propenyl)benzene (I), which, in earlier field tests, was as active to the oriental fruit fly as ME. Now we report that B. dorsalis males are not only attracted to, but also eagerly consume (up to ∼1 mg/insect) compound I, thus recognizing this fluorinated benzene as a close kin of the natural ME. The flies metabolized the fluorine analog I in a similar fashion producing mostly two hydroxylated products, 2-(3-fluoro-2-propenyl)-4,5-dimethoxyphenol (II) and (E)-coniferyl alcohol (III), which they stored in rectal glands. However, the introduction of the fluorine atom at the terminal carbon atom of the double bond favors the ring hydroxylation over a side-chain metabolic oxidation pathway, by which coniferyl alcohol is produced. It also appears that fluorination overall impedes the metabolism: at high feed rate (10 μl per 10 males), the flies consumed in total more fluorine analog I than ME but were unable to metabolize it as efficiently as ME.  相似文献

A 67-year-old woman with a one-year history of tinnitus and headache had multiple cranial nerve palsies of V, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI and spastic paraparesis. She also had a secretory otitis media. Gd-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed hypertrophy of the dura of the posterior fossa and spinal epidural mass which extended from C7 to T10. A biopsy of the epidural mass showed chronic granulomatous change. These lesions were completely cured with administration of antibiotics. We believe this case of double-lesion of hypertrophic cranial pachymeningitis and spinal epidural granulomatous lesion originated from a bacterial infection secondary to the secretory otitis media.  相似文献
