A linear induction motor (LIM) is suitable for use in trains. The motor can be used in both wheel‐suspended and contact‐less types such as the Linear Metro and HSST trains in Japan. The LIM has end winding as well as asymmetrical winding. The end effect is a major problem in the LIM, and it makes the analysis, design, and control of motors difficult. This paper describes a method that combines numerical analysis and the equivalent circuit for the LIM in order to design a high‐performance controller for the LIM that includes the end effect. A sample basic field‐oriented control scheme that is based on the plant model is applied to the LIM in order to check the control performance. Abstract

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a notorious bacterial pathogen that induces high mortality and morbidity. Due to the emergence of multiple resistance, antibiotic treatments are rapidly becoming ineffective for the related infections. Natural products, especially those derived from plants, have been proven to be effective agents with unique antibacterial properties through different mechanisms. This review interprets the resistance mechanisms of MRSA with the aim to conquer public health threat. Further, recent researches about plant antimicrobials that showed remarkable antibacterial activity against MRSA are recorded, including the crude plant extracts and purified plant-derived bioactive compounds. Novel anti-MRSA modalities of plant antimicrobials such as alteration in efflux pump, inhibition of pyruvate kinase, and disturbance of quorum sensing in MRSA are also summarized which may be promising alternatives to antibacterial drug development in future.  相似文献

This study examined the inactivation of Listeria monocytogenes in milk by high-pressure processing (HPP) and bacterial recovery during storage after HPP. We developed a technique to inhibit the bacterial recovery during storage after HPP (550 MPa for 5 min) using a mild-heat treatment (30-50 degrees C). Various mild-heat treatments were conducted following HPP to investigate the condition on which the bacterial recovery was prevented. Immediately after HPP of 550 MPa at 25 degrees C for 5 min, no L. monocytogenes cells were detected in milk regardless of the inoculum levels (3, 5, and 7 log(10)CFU/ml). However, the number of L. monocytogenes cells increased by >8 log(10)CFU/ml regardless of the inoculum levels after 28 days of storage at 4 degrees C. Significant recovery was observed during storage at 25 degrees C; the bacterial number increased by >8 log(10)CFU/ml after 3 days of storage in the case of an initial inoculum level of 7 and 5 log(10)CFU/ml. Even in the case of an initial inoculum level of 3 log(10)CFU/ml, the bacterial number reached the level of 8 log(10)CFU/ml after 7 days of storage. No bacterial recovery was observed with storage at 37 degrees C for 28 days. Milk samples were treated by various mild-heat treatments (30-50 degrees C for 5-240 min) following HPP of 550 MPa at 25 degrees C for 5 min, and then stored at 25 degrees C for 70 days. The mild-heat treatment (e.g., 37 degrees C for 240 min or 50 degrees C for 10 min) inhibited the recovery of L. monocytogenes in milk after HPP. No recovery of L. monocytogenes in milk was observed during 70-day storage at 25 degrees C in samples that received mild-heat treatments such as mentioned above following HPP (550 MPa for 5 min). Moreover, the mild-heat treatment conditions (temperature and holding time) required to inhibit the recovery of L. monocytogenes in milk was modelled using a logistic regression procedure. The predicted interface of recovery/no recovery can be used to calculate the mild-heat treatment condition to control bacterial recovery during storage at 25 degrees C after HPP (550 MPa for 5 min). The results in this study would contribute to enhance the safety of high-pressure-processed milk.  相似文献

To reproduce a subaqueous debris flow with a friction coefficient of approximately tan1° in field, material with a huge volume may be involved. In this research, a steady subaqueous debris flow with a friction coefficient of approximately tan1° was produced by using the rotating flume experiment apparatus (Debris Flow Maker, DFM) with only 40 g of silicon powder. Subsequently, the mechanism of the low friction coefficient was interpreted with the hypothesis of dense agglomeration hitting (DAH). DAH means hitting of the dense agglomeration of dense flow on the flume's bottom plane. The following issues on DAH are considered: (I) the high velocity of the flume's bottom plane induces a strong hitting of particles; (II) the hitting elevates the liquid pressure near the boundary between the agglomeration and the flume's bottom plane; (III) the energy loss due to collision inside the particle agglomeration is limited. The experimental results provide an alternative method of producing subaqueous debris flow and an alternative measurement method of its friction coefficient; the hypothesis provides an alternative interpretation on the mechanism of low friction coefficient of subaqueous debris flow.  相似文献

RNAP-I, an aspartic proteinase from a filamentous fungus Rhizopus niveus, is secreted very efficiently in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is synthesized first as a precursor form with signal sequence and prosequence in its amino-terminus. Our previous study indicated that the prosequence of RNAP-I had important roles in its correct folding and secretion in yeast, and that a prosequence-deleted derivative of RNAP-I, Δpro, was not secreted but was retained and degraded in the yeast endoplasmic reticulum (ER). In the present study, we show that the accumulation of Δpro in the yeast ER caused elevated synthesis of ER resident chaperones, indicating that Δpro is recognized as an unfolded protein species in the ER. Our biochemical data demonstrated that Δpro formed aggregates which contained BiP, but not protein disulfide isomerase (PDI), in the ER. Immunoelectron microscopical analysis revealed that the Δpro aggregates were indeed visible as electron-dense regions in the ER and nuclear envelope. Such ‘chaperone-associated misfolded protein bodies’ were observed for the first time in yeast. Morphologies of the ER and nucleus were drastically altered by the accumulation of the Δpro aggregates. The ER lost its flat cisternal shape; the ER lumen extended aberrantly and the ER membrane irregularly proliferated. The misfolded Δpro proteins are probably sorted from the ordinary ER lumen to form the aggregates so that the ER function would not be grossly impaired, and the dilated ER may represent an ER subcompartment where the Δpro aggregates are degraded. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new modeling approach for circuit‐field‐coupled time‐stepping electromagnetic analysis of a saturated interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). To predict the drive performance quickly, the proposed approach consists of a dynamic simulator based on a new analytical model of the d‐ and q‐axis magnetization characteristics (λ‐idiq‐θ). The model can take into account not only cross‐saturation but also the harmonics of the inductance distributions and EMF waveforms. The validity of the model is verified from suitable simulation results for the instantaneous current and torque waveforms of the IPMSM. The proposed analysis leads to a dramatic reduction in the computation time compared to circuit‐field‐coupled time‐stepping FEA, while maintaining analytical accuracy. The effectiveness of the proposed method is experimentally verified using a 10‐kW, 15,000‐rpm concentrated‐winding IPM motor. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The generalized scaling law is based on the concept of two-stage scaling and allows currently available centrifuge facilities to model a large-scale prototype expanding over the spatial dimension ranging from 30 m or larger subject to earthquake motions. This paper presents the results of investigation on the applicability of the generalized scaling law to the fully nonlinear regime of soil-structure system with the induced strain level of 10% in the order of magnitude. The centrifuge model tests performed in this study under the modeling of models scheme consist of a pile model embedded in a inclined ground subject to liquefaction-induced lateral spreading. Four different centrifugal accelerations ranging from 13g to 50g are used whereas the actual size of the physical model is kept constant with an overall scaling factor of 1/100. The models are exposed to tapered sinusoidal input accelerations of frequency 0.59 Hz and amplitude 3.0 m/s2 in prototype scale, and the results are compared in terms of prototype by applying the generalized scaling law. As for the response of the ground during shaking, essentially identical accelerations and excess pore water pressures are recorded for all cases, while the lateral displacement shows a variation ranging from 5% to 9% in terms of shear strain due to a slight variation in experimental conditions (e.g., input peak acceleration, achieved density distribution). Practically the same responses are measured among the cases in the dissipation phase of excess pore water pressure. With regard to pile behavior, nearly identical responses for the lateral displacements and bending moments are obtained for all cases both during and after shaking. These results demonstrated that the generalized scaling law is applicable to the fully nonlinear regime of soil-structure system subject to the cumulative shear strain in the order of 10% due to cyclic mobility of sands during earthquakes.  相似文献
