The effect of plastic deformation mode on tensile properties of quenched commercial β-phase titanium alloys has been investigated at approximately constant grain size and oxygen content. In addition, stability of β-phase has been estimated from ω-reflections or diffuse streaking in electron diffraction patterns in a manner similar to the previous works on binary β-phase titanium alloys. Dominant mode of plastic deformation is {332}<113> twinning in the alloys with large instability of β-phase, such as Ti-11.5Mo-6Zr-4. 5Sn and Ti-15Mo-5Zr, and is crystallographic slip in the alloys with small instability of β-phase, such as Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al, Ti-3Al-8V-6Cr-4Mo-4Zr, Ti-15V-3Cr-3Al-3Sn, Ti-8Mo-8V-2Fe-3Al, and Ti-13V-11C-3Al. Twinning leads to low yield strength and large elongation, while slip results in high yield strength and small elongation in agreement with binary and termary β-phase titanium alloys.  相似文献

Phosphoinositides (PIs) play important roles in the structure and function of the brain. Associations between PIs and the pathophysiology of schizophrenia have been studied. However, the significance of the PI metabolic pathway in the pathology of schizophrenia is unknown. We examined the expression of PI signaling-associated proteins in the postmortem brain of schizophrenia patients. Protein expression levels of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinase type-1 gamma (PIP5K1C), phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase alpha (PIK4CA, also known as PIK4A), phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted from chromosome 10 (PTEN), protein kinase B (Akt), and glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays and multiplex fluorescent bead-based immunoassays of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of postmortem samples from 23 schizophrenia patients and 47 normal controls. We also examined the association between PIK4CA expression and its genetic variants in the same brain samples. PIK4CA expression was lower, whereas Akt expression was higher, in the PFC of schizophrenia patients than in that of controls; PIP5K1C, PTEN, and GSK3β expression was not different. No single-nucleotide polymorphism significantly affected protein expression. We identified molecules involved in the pathology of schizophrenia via this lipid metabolic pathway. These results suggest that PIK4CA is involved in the mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of schizophrenia and is a potential novel therapeutic target.  相似文献

Natural rubber (NR) is emblematic of sustainability compared to synthetic rubber. However, the tradition of adding sulfur as a vulcanization ingredient results in the release of toxic substances and the potential for health issues. In this study, a feasible strategy was proposed to replace sulfur and discover a safe bulk modification process for NR films. The results have shown that the NR particle size was disintegrated to below 10 nm by gamma irradiation. High tension strength up to 24.45 MPa was observed in the vulcanized NR blend film, which could be elongated up to 800% strain after exposure to an optimum dose of 14 kGy. In comparison to commercial NR latex and nitrile gloves, the vulcanized NR/ SIS films exhibited better chemical resistance ability against hexane, methanol, toluene, and acetone, as revealed by the permeation test. The appearance of amorphous regions and highly oriented NR crystallites was observed through transmission electron microscopy. Findings from this study propose the vacuum radiation strategy that can replace conventional vulcanization methods, resulting in NR films with high mechanical and barrier performance. Furthermore, the emission of toxic substances is reduced by this green process, making it practically useful for potential chemical-resistant examination glove applications.  相似文献

The plastic work required for a unit area of fatigue crack propagation U was measured by cementing tiny foil strain gages ahead of propagating fatigue cracks and recording the stress-strain curves as the crack approached. Measurements of U and plastic zone size in aluminum alloys 2024-T4, 2219-T861, 2219 overaged, and A1-6.3 wt% Cu-T4, and a binary Ni-base alloy with 7.2 wt% A1 are herein reported. The results are discussed along with previously reported measurements of U in three steels and 7050 aluminum alloy. When U is compared to the fatigue crack propagation rate at constant ΔK along with strength and modulus, the conclusion is drawn that U is one of the parameters which determines the rate of fatigue crack propagation. The relation of U to microstructure is also discussed. “Homogeneous” plastic deformation in the plastic zone ahead of the crack seems desirable.  相似文献

In order to clarify the fragmentation mechanism of a metallic alloy (U–Pu–Zr) fuel on liquid phase formed by metallurgical reactions (liquefaction temperature = 650 °C), which is important in evaluating the sequence of core disruptive accidents for metallic fuel fast reactors, a series of experiments was carried out using molten aluminum (melting point = 660 °C) and sodium mainly under the condition that the boiling of sodium does not occur. When the instantaneous contact interface temperature (Ti) between molten aluminum drop and sodium is lower than the boiling point of sodium (Tc,bp), the molten aluminum drop can be fragmented and the mass median diameter (Dm) of aluminum fragments becomes small with increasing Ti. When Ti is roughly equivalent to or higher than Tc,bp, the fragmentation of aluminum drop is promoted by thermal interaction caused by the boiling of sodium on the surface of the drop. Furthermore, even under the condition that the boiling of sodium does not occur and the solid crust is formed on the surface of the drop, it is confirmed from an analytical evaluation that the thermal fragmentation of molten aluminum drop with solid crust has a potential to be caused by the transient pressurization within the melt confined by the crust. These results indicate the possibility that the metallic alloy fuel on liquid phase formed by the metallurgical reactions can be fragmented without occurring the boiling of sodium on the surface of the melt.  相似文献

In situ dynamic observations of the deformation and fracture characteristics of alpha/beta brass two-phase bicrystals were made by the solid diffusion method. The results indicated clearly that the crack initiation site was at the interface. The crack propagation direction, in both the alpha and beta phases, was found to be orientation dependent. The dilute Cu-Nb-Sn alloys containing small amounts of Nb and Sn less than 1 at % exhibited superconductivity after quenching from the liquid state and ageing. The best superconducting properties ( andJ c=130 A cm–2) in a Cu-0.30 at % Nb 0.15 at % Sn alloy were obtained when the sample was aged at 550° C for 384 h. This sample exhibited a structure of fine Nb3Sn precipitates of 200 to 500Å diameter distributed homogeneously in the Cu matrix, and therefore it was concluded that superconductivity in these alloys resulted from the proximity effect of Nb3Sn particles. In spite of the similar structure obtained by ageing at 800° C, the Cu-Nb-Sn alloys showed inferior superconducting properties compared to the Cu-0.4 at % Nb alloy and this would be explained qualitatively by the difference in the mean free path in the two alloys.  相似文献

A new hot forming system for high-alloy metals with poor workability is developed. This forming system is a direct combination of a forming machine and continuous electric resistance heating, and is capable of the high-speed forming of metals with flexible and precise control of elevated temperature. The prototype of the new forming system is applied to the forming of high-alloy metals with poor formability, such as a Ti–6Al–4V bar, and the basic characteristics of this forming system are clarified. Using this system, sound, high speed forming of high alloys becomes possible, and the Ti–6Al–4V bar is successfully formed without fracture.  相似文献

To investigate whether monkeys perceive relative pitch, the author trained 3 Japanese monkeys (Macaca fuscata) to detect changes from rising to falling contours of 3-tone sequences. Tone sequences were presented serially with transposition, so monkeys were urged to attend to cues other than the absolute frequency of a component tone. Results from probe tests with novel sequences showed that monkeys discriminated by the relative pitch when the frequency ranges of sequences were within the training range, showing a similar tendency as birds in previous studies (e.g., S. A new test structure has been designed to evaluate fluctuations of transistor properties, both within a chip and across a 300-mm wafer. The evaluation system was established with a conventional parametric tester and dc power supplies suitable for application on production lines. It was observed that threshold voltage (V/sub th/) variations increased with the reduction of the channel area. A difference was also observed in the standard deviation (/spl sigma//sub vt/) between NMOS and PMOS. From statistical evaluations, controlling CDs and improving rolloff characteristics were found to be important to reduce V/sub th/ variations.  相似文献
