Potentiometric properties of the PVC membrane-based electrodes prepared with molecular tweezer-type neutral carriers, 3,12-bis(TFAB)CA and deoxy-3,12-bis(TFAB)CA, and trifluoroacetyl-p-decylbenzene (TFADB) were measured in buffered electrolytes (0.1 M Tris-H2SO4, pH 8.6 and 8.0) and artificial seawater. It was observed that the deoxy-3,12-bis(TFAB)CA-based electrode provides greatly enhanced carbonate selectivity over chloride (log K(CO3(2-), Cl-)POT approximately -6) and other minor anions present in seawater. Thus, we explored the possibility of applying this new carbonate-selective electrode for direct determination of oceanic carbon dioxide. The total carbon dioxide (TCO2) level in surface Yellow Sea water was determined with the deoxy-3,12-bis(TFAB)CA-based electrode, Severinghaus-type CO2 gas sensor, and the traditional potentiometric titration methods. The results showed that the carbonate-selective electrode provides accurate oceanic TCO2 determination comparable to that obtainable with the other two methods. The analytical procedure based on a carbonate-selective electrode is clearly advantageous over other conventional methods: it does not require any sample pretreatment and extra reagents other than the standard calibration solutions, while providing the measured results directly and immediately.  相似文献

Soft, stimulus-responsive 3D structures created from crosslinked poly(ionic liquid)s (PILs) have been fabricated at unprecedented sub-micron resolution by direct laser writing (DLW). These structures absorb considerable quantities of solvent (e.g., water, alcohol, and acetone) to produce PIL hydrogels that exhibit stimulus-responsive behavior. Due to their flexibility and soft, responsive nature, these structures are much more akin to biological systems than the conventional, highly crosslinked, rigid structures typically produced using 2-photon polymerization (2-PP). These PIL gels expand/contract due to solvent uptake/release, and, by exploiting inherited properties of the ionic liquid monomer (ILM), thermo-responsive gels that exhibit reversible area change (30?±?3%, n?=?40) when the temperature is raised from 20?°C to 70?°C can be created. The effect is very rapid, with the response indistinguishable from the microcontroller heating rate of 7.4?°C?s?1. The presence of an endoskeleton-like framework within these structures influences movement arising from expansion/contraction and assists the retention of structural integrity during actuation cycling.  相似文献

We present a method for fabrication of smooth ridge waveguides by wet etching technique, using a special mixture of acids and applying a pretreatment procedure. By implementing this method, we fabricated 4.5 μm-deep large single mode ridge waveguides with walls and edges roughness comparable with the roughness of the non-etched regions, namely, less than 20 nm. Optical extra losses caused by the ridge creation were measured by the Fabry Perot technique and were 0.2 dB/cm@TM and 0.7 dB@TE for 1550 nm wavelength. Surface roughness, morphology, etching rates and propagation losses are presented and compared to the characteristics achieved by previously reported wet etching recipes.  相似文献
