A portable compiler can be constructed by letting it generate code for a virtual machine, which is then implemented on the real target machines. The design of a virtual machine which is especially suitable as a target machine for compiled Ada programs is described. The main design goals, implementability on mini-computers and portability, are discussed and the resulting design is described in some detail. Calcium peptide chelates are developed as efficient supplements for preventing calcium deficiency. Spent hen meat (SHM) contains a high percentage of proteins but is generally wasted due to the disadvantages such as hard texture. We chose the underutilized SHM to produce peptides to bind calcium by proteolysis and aimed to investigate chelation between calcium and peptides in hydrolysate for a sustainable purpose. The optimized proteolysis conditions calculated from the result of response surface methodology for two-step hydrolysis were 0.30% (wenzyme/wmeat) for papain with a hydrolysis time of 3.5 h and 0.18% (wenzyme/wmeat) for flavourzyme with a hydrolysis time of 2.8 h. The enzymatic hydrolysate (EH) showed a binding capacity of 63.8 ± 1.8 mg calcium/g protein. Ethanol separation for EH improved the capacity up to a higher value of 68.6 ± 0.6 mg calcium/g protein with a high association constant of 420 M−1 (25°C) indicating high stability. The separated fraction with a higher amount of Glu, Asp, Lys, and Arg had higher calcium-binding capacity, which was related to the number of ─COOH and ─NH2 groups in peptide side chains according to the result from amino acid analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Two-step enzymatic hydrolysis and ethanol separation were an efficient combination to produce peptide mixtures derived from SHM with high calcium-binding capacity. The high percentage of hydrophilic amino acids in the separated fraction was concluded to increase calcium-binding capacity. This work provides foundations for increasing spent hen utilization and developing calcium peptide chelates based on underutilized meat.  相似文献

Various modifications of the face/core interface in foam core sandwich specimens are examined in a series of two papers. This paper constitutes part I and describes the finite element analysis of a sandwich test specimen, i.e. a DCB specimen loaded by uneven bending moments (DCB-UBM). Using this test almost any mode-mixity between pure mode I and mode II can be obtained. A cohesive zone model of the mixed mode fracture process involving large-scale bridging is developed. Results from the analysis are used in Part II, which describes methods and results of a series of experiments.  相似文献

The analysis of atrial fibrillation in non-invasive ECG recordings has received considerable attention in recent years, spurring the development of signal processing techniques for more advanced characterization of the atrial waveforms than previously available. The present paper gives an overview of different approaches to the extraction of atrial activity in the ECG and to the characterization of the resulting atrial signal with respect to its spectral properties. So far, the repetition rate of the atrial waves is the most studied parameter and its significance in clinical management is briefly considered, including the identification of pathomechanisms and prediction of therapy efficacy.  相似文献

The angular dependence of potassium emission-desorption is studied from a fused iron catalyst of the type used for ammonia synthesis. The excited species (K*, K n * , etc.) and positive ions K+ have strongly different angular distributions. The bilobular distribution measured for ion desorption is concluded to be either due to excited atoms, so-called Rydberg atoms, or excited clusters. Both types of species have to desorb from the edges of the sample and become field ionized and deexcited just outside the sample, as reported in previous studies on an iron oxide catalyst. The peak in the normal direction measured for excited species is due to excited cluster formation outside the catalyst surface. Similarities with previous results for other catalysts are observed. The Swedish legal restriction on construction of multi-storey timber buildings was imposed in 1888 and repealed in 1994. The subsequent emergence of such a timber building system in Sweden is analysed in the context of the existing concrete-based construction system. The characteristics of the construction industry and its path dependency over the past century hamper the development of a timber building system. However, government policies and funding, the wood industry's interest in an enhanced market for value-added wood products, and involvement of the wood research community has helped develop such a construction system. Investments in knowledge creation, incentives for the entry of new firms, and increased prefabrication may facilitate a transition from this formative phase to a growth phase in the diffusion of timber buildings.

En Suède, les restrictions juridiques frappant la construction de bâtiments en bois de plusieurs étages ont été édictées en 1888 et annulées en 1994. L'auteur analyse l'arrivée résultante d'un tel système de construction en bois en Suède face à la construction en béton qui existe actuellement. Les caractéristiques de l'industrie du bâtiment et sa dépendance au chemin au cours du siècle dernier empêchent le développement d'un système de construction en bois. Toutefois, les politiques officielles et les financements ainsi que les intérêts de l'industrie du bois dans un marché amélioré pour des produits en bois à valeur ajoutée et l'engagement des chercheurs dans le domaine du bois ont aidé à développer un tel système de construction. Les investissements dans la création du savoir, les incitations à l'arrivée de nouvelles entreprises et l'augmentation de la préfabrication peuvent faciliter le passage de cette phase de formation à une phase de croissance à la diffusion des bâtiments en bois.

A general methodology for patterning of multiple protein ligands with lateral dimensions below those of single cells is described. It employs dip pen nanolithography (DPN) patterning of DNA oligonucleotides which are then used as capture strands for DNA‐directed immobilization (DDI) of oligonucleotide‐tagged proteins. This study reports the development and optimization of PEG‐based liquid ink, used as carrier for the immobilization of alkylamino‐labeled DNA oligomers on chemically activated glass surfaces. The resulting DNA arrays have typical spot sizes of 4–5 μm with a pitch of 12 μm micrometer. It is demonstrated that the arrays can be further functionalized with covalent DNA‐streptavidin (DNA‐STV) conjugates bearing ligands recognized by cells. To this end, biotinylated epidermal growth factor (EGF) is coupled to the DNA‐STV conjugates, the resulting constructs are hybridized with the DNA arrays and the resulting surfaces used for the culturing of MCF‐7 (human breast adenocarcinoma) cells. Owing to the lateral diffusion of transmembrane proteins in the cell's plasma membrane, specific recruitment and concentration of EGF receptor can be induced specifically at the sites where the ligands are bound on the solid substrate. This is a clear demonstration that this method is suitable for precise functional manipulations of subcellular areas within living cells.  相似文献
