The effect of a uniform magnetic field with a flux density up to 1 T and different configurations relative to the electrode surface, on the electrodeposition of Co, Fe and CoFe alloys from acidic sulphate electrolytes has been investigated. It was found that a magnetic field applied parallel to the electrode surface increases the limiting current density and deposition rate due to the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD)-effect caused by the Lorentz force. No significant changes of the limiting current density and deposition rate with a magnetic field applied in the perpendicular to electrode configuration were observed. But in this configuration desorption of hydrogen was found to be supported by a magnetic field. The chemical composition of the deposited alloys was found to be unaffected by the magnetic field. The deposition of CoFe at the highest applied potential (−1600 mVMSE) was found to be anomalous. At this potential the increase of the interface pH value is sufficient for hydroxyl species formation.  相似文献

The controlled etching of graphite and graphene by catalytic hydrogenation is potentially a key engineering route for the fabrication of graphene nanoribbons with atomic precision. The hydrogenation mechanism, though, remains poorly understood. In this study we exploit the benefits of aberration-corrected high-resolution transmission electron microscopy to gain insight to the hydrogenation reaction. The etch tracks are found to be commensurate with the graphite lattice. Catalyst particles at the head of an etch channel are shown to be faceted and the angles between facets are multiples of 30°. Thus, the angles between facets are also commensurate with the graphite lattice. In addition, the results of a post-annealing step suggest that all catalyst particles—even if they are not involved in etching—are actively forming methane during the hydrogenation reaction. Furthermore, the data point against carbon dissolution being a key mechanism during the hydrogenation process.   相似文献

Coatings with thicknesses ranging from a few nanometer up to several micrometer produced by physical vapor deposition (PVD) processes have been established in engineering technologies since the early 1980s. In particular, magnetron sputtered wear resistance coatings are industrially established and capable to enhance tool lifetimes significantly. However, in cases where optical inspection of a coating in use is not possible, an intrinsic sensor function of the film would be beneficial. Therefore, the development of wear resistant coatings with an integrated sensor functionality based on the insertion of a magnetoelastic ferromagnetic phase is suggested. In combination with appropriate read‐out electronics such a film system would be ready for online monitoring of the coatings' actual state (e.g., strain, temperature, volume loss). This paper focuses on the development of wear resistance coatings which simultaneously supply beneficial mechanical properties as well as ferromagnetic properties optimized for online non‐contact read‐out applications. Multilayer coatings obtained through alternate stacking of magnetron sputtered TiN and FeCo layers with a nominal total thickness of 1000 nm were produced as a model system meeting the above conditions. The bilayer period was varied down to 2.6 nm while the individual layer thickness ratio tTiN/tFeCo was determined by the deposition rates and maintained constant at a value of about 3/1. The films were vacuum annealed ex situ in a static magnetic field subsequent to the deposition. The constitution of the as‐deposited and annealed coatings as well as their mechanical (nanohardness, Young's modulus) and magnetic properties (magnetization hysteresis, frequency‐dependent permeability) are described. Finally, the suitability of the coatings for the use in remote‐interrogable wear sensor applications is briefly discussed.  相似文献

The present work aims to study the high‐temperature strength of coke. Mechanisms of disintegration were evaluated using basket samples charged into LKAB's experimental blast furnace prior to quenching and dissection. Coke charged into basket samples was analysed with CSR/CRI tests and compared with treated coke from the blast furnace. Results from tumbling tests, chemical analyses of coarse and fine material, as well as light optical microscopy studies of original and treated coke have been combined and evaluated. The results indicate a correlation between the ash composition and the CSR values. Differences in the texture of the coke were noted with light optical microscopy, and a significant change in the coke texture during the CSR/CRI test conditions was found. The results suggest that the main reaction between coke and CO2 took place in isotropic areas, which was especially pronounced in coke with a low CSR. Signs of degradation were apparent throughout the coke pieces that have undergone CSR/CRI testing, but were less observable in coke reacted in the blast furnace. The results indicate that reaction with CO2 is generally limited by the chemical reaction rate in the CSR/CRI test, while in the blast furnace the reaction is limited by the diffusion rate. Coke degradation is therefore mostly restricted to the coke surface in the blast furnace.  相似文献

基于Eulerian-Eulerian方法和体积元平均技术,建立了模拟等轴球品凝固过程的液、固、气三相流模型.液、固两相处理成相互分离、相互扩散的介质,气相与液、固两相只存在热量及动量的相互作用,三相(凝固前)作为自由流体共享一个统一的压力场.分别求解三相的质量、动量、溶质、热焓守恒方程;相间的热量交换和摩擦拖拽以及液/固界面上的溶质再分配和凝固潜热释放,通过定义对应守恒方程的源项和交换项而加以考虑;另外,单独求解一个晶粒密度守恒方程.晶粒的形核生长(相变)也加以模型化并体现在对应的源项中,模型中所用的密度定义为溶质与温度的函数,因此可综合考虑热溶质对流、晶粒运动及凝固收缩所引起的补缩流动.凝固过程的体积收缩及补缩流动将体现在气/液自由表面的波动上.  相似文献

Better understanding of the processes controlling arsenic bioavailability in the rhizosphere is important to enhance plant arsenic accumulation by hyperaccumulators. This greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate the chemical characteristics of the rhizosphere of two arsenic hyperaccumulators Pterisvittata and Pterisbiaurita. They were grown for 8 weeks in rhizopots containing arsenic-contaminated soils (153 and 266 mg kg− 1 arsenic). Bulk and rhizosphere soil samples were analyzed for water-soluble As (WS-As) and P (WS-P), pH, and dissolved organic carbon (DOC). Comparing the two plants, P.vittata was more tolerant to arsenic and more efficient in arsenic accumulation than P.biaurita, with the highest frond arsenic being 3222 and 2397 mg kg− 1. Arsenic-induced root exudates reduced soil pH (by 0.74-0.92 units) and increased DOC concentrations (2-3 times) in the rhizosphere, resulting in higher WS-P (2.6-3.8 times higher) compared to the bulk soil. Where there was no difference in WS-As between the rhizosphere and bulk soil in soil-153 for both plants, WS-As in the rhizosphere was 20-40% higher than those in bulk soil in soil-266, indicating that the rate of As-solubilization was more rapid than that of plant uptake. The ability to solubilize arsenic via root exudation in the rhizosphere and the ability to accumulate more P under arsenic stress may have contributed to the efficiency of hyperaccumulator plants in arsenic accumulation.  相似文献

Semi-synthetic diet I which contained 16% hydrogenated coconut oil and 5% cholesterol, and diet II, identical to I but without cholesterol supplement, were fed to dogs for four months to determine the effects of added cholesterol on lipemia produced by diets high in saturated fatty acids (FA) and lacking essential FA. In addition, diet I was fed to another group of dogs for 12 to 16 months. The initiation of lipemia was very similar in all experimental animals. Plasma from dogs on diets I and II showed significant increases in lipid concentration and changes in FA per cent composition within the first week, as compared to controls, while during the first month there was no difference in lipid concentration or FA distribution in all lipid fractions between I and II. At the 10th and 16th weeks plasma total and free cholesterol and phospholipid were significantly higher in the group on diet I, with the cholesterol supplement, than on diet II with no added cholesterol, but there was no difference in triglyceride concentration between these groups. Dogs on diet I for 12 to 16 months showed a further and substantial increase in plasma FA concentration; these changes were most marked in cholesteryl esters. Little or no lipoprotein with electrophoretic and ultracentrifugal properties of alpha-lipoprotein was present in the plasma. Immunotechniques showed that it was present. The composition of dietary FA had great influence in producing this hyperlipemia. Lipemia produced was not a simple reflection of the FA in these diets as evidenced by the increase in some FA, e.g., C16∶1, which was absent in the experimental diets and C18∶1, which contributed only 3.4% of the FA. Large increases in palmitoleate and oleate indicate synthesis or mobilization or both from other tissues. Diets composed predominantly of saturated medium chain length fatty acids, with or without added cholesterol were equally effective in the initiation of hyperlipemia. Phormidolide is a polyketide produced by a cultured filamentous marine cyanobacterium and incorporates a 16‐membered macrolactone. Its complex structure is recognizably derived from a polyketide synthase pathway, but possesses unique and intriguing structural features that prompted interest in investigating its biosynthetic origin. Stable isotope incorporation experiments confirmed the polyketide nature of this compound. We further characterized the phormidolide gene cluster (phm) through genome sequencing followed by bioinformatic analysis. Two discrete trans‐type acyltransferase (trans‐AT) ORFs along with KS‐AT adaptor regions (ATd) within the polyketide synthase (PKS) megasynthases, suggest that the phormidolide gene cluster is a trans‐AT PKS. Insights gained from analysis of the mode of acetate incorporation and ensuing keto reduction prompted our reevaluation of the stereochemistry of phormidolide hydroxy groups located along the linear polyketide chain.  相似文献

The stem cell marker and RNA-binding protein Musashi-1 is overexpressed in endometriosis. Musashi-1-siRNA knockdown in Ishikawa cells altered the expression of stem cell related genes, such as OCT-4. To investigate the role of both human Musashi homologues (MSI-1 and MSI-2) in the pathogenesis of endometriosis, immortalized endometriotic 12-Z cells and primary endometriotic stroma cells were treated with Musashi-1- and Musashi-2-siRNA. Subsequently, the impact on cell proliferation, cell apoptosis, cell necrosis, spheroid formation, stem cell phenotype and the Notch signaling pathway was studied in vitro. Using the ENDOMET Turku Endometriosis database, the gene expression of stem cell markers and Notch signaling pathway constituents were analyzed according to localization of the endometriosis lesions. The database analysis demonstrated that expression of Musashi and Notch pathway-related genes are dysregulated in patients with endometriosis. Musashi-1/2-double-knockdown increased apoptosis and necrosis and reduced stem cell gene expression, cell proliferation, and the formation of spheroids. Musashi silencing increased the expression of the anti-proliferation mediator p21. Our findings suggest the therapeutic potential of targeting the Musashi–Notch axis. We conclude that the Musashi genes have an impact on Notch signaling and the pathogenesis of endometriosis through the downregulation of proliferation, stemness characteristics and the upregulation of apoptosis, necrosis and of the cell cycle regulator p21.  相似文献

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a small subpopulation of tumor cells harboring properties that include self-renewal, multi-lineage differentiation, tumor reconstitution, drug resistance and invasiveness, making them key players in tumor relapse. In the present paper, we develop new CSC models and analyze the molecular pathways involved in survival to identify targets for the establishment of novel therapies. Endometrial carcinoma-derived stem-like cells (ECSCs) were isolated from carcinogenic gynecological tissue and analyzed regarding their expression of prominent CSC markers. Further, they were treated with the MYC-signaling inhibitor KJ-Pyr-9, chemotherapeutic agent carboplatin and type II diabetes medication metformin. ECSC populations express common CSC markers, such as Prominin-1 and CD44 antigen as well as epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition markers, Twist, Snail and Slug, and exhibit the ability to form free-floating spheres. The inhibition of MYC signaling and treatment with carboplatin as well as metformin significantly reduced the cell survival of ECSC-like cells. Further, treatment with metformin significantly decreased the mitochondrial membrane potential of ECSC-like cells, while the extracellular lactate concentration was increased. The established ECSC-like populations represent promising in vitro models to further study the contribution of ECSCs to endometrial carcinogenesis. Targeting MYC signaling as well as mitochondrial bioenergetics has shown promising results in the diminishment of ECSCs, although molecular signaling pathways need further investigations.  相似文献
