Predicting the minimum safe cycle time in injection molding is complicated by the cyclic nature of the process. The mold thermal state changes with continuous molding until a quasi steady state is achieved. In the first part of these series, we presented and experimentally tested a simple approach to predict part and mold surface temperature during continuous molding. In this work, we evaluate the minimum frozen layer thickness required before the part can be demolded and how the growth of this frozen layer is affected as the mold thermal state changes with continuous molding cycles. Experiments are used to relate the minimum frozen layer thickness to dimensional stability. Based on these experiments, statistical tools are used to select an ejection criterion to obtain a minimum safe cooling time. The effects of seed treatments, including cooking, popping germination and flour air classification, on the functional properties and antinutritional factors of Amaranthus caudatus and Amaranthus cruentus seeds were studied. Thermal treatments increased the water absorption with a maximum value of 5.1 and 6.3 g g−1 in flour of popped seeds of both species. Generally, fat absorption increased after the treatments. Air classification and germination followed by drying at low temperature increased the foam stability of the flours, while thermal treatment and germination followed by drying at higher temperatures reduced the foam stability. All treatments except air classification decreased the emulsion stability. Also, all treatments except germination followed by drying at 30 °C increased the flour dispersibility, whereas the soluble nitrogen index was increased in the germinated seed flours and decreased in thermal treated seeds and air‐classified flours. Air classification increased the contents of phenolic compounds and phytate and decreased the contents of enzyme inhibitors, whereas the thermal treatments reduced the contents of phenolic compounds, phytate and enzyme inhibitors to a greater extent for cooking than for popping. In this study, the effectiveness of three random copolymers based on blocks of poly(lactic acid) and polyethylene (PLA‐PE) used as compatibilizer in PLA and high density polyethylene blends (PLA/HDPE) was evaluated in terms of thermal and mechanical properties. The compatibilizers were synthesized by different ways: reactive extrusion (C1), ring opening polymerization of lactide with PE with —OH substituent group (PE‐OH) as initiator (C2) and polycondensation of lactic acid in presence of PE grafted with maleic anhydride (PE‐g‐MAH) (C3). The compatibilizers were used in two different proportions (5 and 15 wt%) and their efficiency was compared with a commercial compatibilizer (C0). The blends with C2 compatibilizer exhibited the highest tensile toughness (350% of increment compared with neat PLA/PE) because of the morphology attained. However, it was found that a relationship exists between the improvement of the compatibility and the loss of the thermal stability (?28°C) in PLA/HDPE blends. POLYM. ENG. We examine the energy and performance benefits that can be obtained by re-mapping frequently executed loops from a microprocessor to reconfigurable logic. We present a design flow that finds critical software loops automatically and manually re-implements these inconfigurable logic by implementing them in SA-C, a C language variation supportinga dataflow computation model and designed to specify and map DSP applicationsonto reconfigurable logic. A cluster of infections caused by Enterobacter cloacae was observed among preterm neonates in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of a pediatric hospital in Osnabrück, Germany. The presence of similar antimicrobial susceptibility patterns among the bacterial isolates prompted an investigation to determine whether a limited spread of a single strain existed. All 12 E. cloacae isolates from the NICU and 50 nonrelated strains were fingerprinted by small-fragment restriction endonuclease analysis (SF-REA) of EcoRI DNA digests. Selected isolates were further characterized by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) of NotI- or XbaI-generated genomic restriction fragments. Epidemiologically unrelated strains were clearly discriminated by both methods. Results achieved by SF-REA and PFGE revealed that of the 12 isolates from the NICU, 11 belonged to the same genotypic cluster. Since all reagents and equipment for both techniques are commercially available, DNA fingerprinting by SF-REA or PFGE is proposed as a useful tool in the microbiology laboratory for investigating the epidemiological relatedness of E. cloacae strains of clinical and environmental origin. 相似文献

The present study examined the effects of verbal ability and text genre on adult age differences in sensitivity to the semantic structure of prose. Young and older adults of low or high verbal ability heard narrative and expository passages at different presentation rates. The results demonstrated that older adults recalled less than younger adults and that age differences in recall were larger for low-verbal adults and expository texts. However, subjects from all groups favored the main ideas in their recalls for both types of passages. The results indicate that adult age similarities in the ability to focus on the main ideas when processing prose was not compromised by the verbal ability of the subjects or the organization of the passages used. However, the results also demonstrate how the characteristics of the learner and the characteristics of the text modulate the size of the age differences observed. The present study aims at evaluating the performance of the relative importance of different types of interactions in yeast cell flocculation. The yeasts isolated from several sources, purified and identified by morphological and biochemical methods. About 50 strains of yeast were isolated on PDA medium, among those strains six strains were flocculent and one of them was identified as Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The influence of different additives on the flocculation was investigated and it was shown that pistacia gum (turpentine) increases the flocculation up to 93.8%. Addition of ammonium sulfate (0.2 g l−1) increases the production of alcohol to 6.19%. 相似文献
