Copolymers of N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (V) and glycidyl methacrylate (G) monomers of different compositions were prepared by free‐radical solution polymerization. The copolymer composition of these copolymers was determined with 1H‐NMR spectra. The reactivity ratios calculated from the Kelen–Tudos and nonlinear least‐square error‐in‐variable methods were rV = 0.03 ± 0.01 and rG = 5.05 ± 0.84 and rV = 0.02 and rG = 4.72, respectively. The triad sequence distribution in terms of V and G centered triads was determined from 13C{1H}‐NMR spectroscopy. The complete spectral assignment of 13C{1H}‐ and 1H‐NMR spectra was performed with the help of distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer and two‐dimensional 13C–1H heteronuclear single quantum coherence. The 1H–1H couplings were explained with total correlation spectroscopy and nuclear Overhauser enhancement spectroscopy spectra. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Lipids in developing seeds ofSinapis alba contain appreciable proportions of (n−7)octadecenoic (vaccenic) acid besides its (n−9) isomer (oleic acid), whereas the constituent very long chain (>C18) monounsaturated fatty acids of these lipids are overwhelmingly composed of the (n−9) isomers. Cotyledons of developingSinapis alba seed use [1-14C]acetate, [1-14C]malonate or [1,3-14C]malonyl-CoA for de novo synthesis of palmitic, stearic and oleic acids and for elongation of preformed oleic, vaccenic and stearic acids to their higher (n−9), (n−7) and saturated homologs, respectively. Moreover, elongation of preformed (n−7)palmitoleic acid to vaccenic acid is observed. Stepwise C2-additions to preformed oleoyl-CoA by acetyl-CoA or malonyl-CoA yielding (n−9)icosenoyl-CoA, (n−9)docosenoyl-CoA and (n−9)tetracosenoyl-CoA are by far the most predominant reactions catalyzed by the elongase system, which seems to have a preference for oleoyl-CoA over vaccenoyl-CoA as the primer. The pattern of14C-labeling of the very long chain fatty acids formed from either acetate or malonate shows a close analogy in the mode of elongation of monounsaturated and saturated fatty acids.  相似文献

Iron exists in Fe2+ and Fe3+ states in CaO–P2O5–Fe2O3 glasses and they impart characteristic optical absorption bands that allow analysis of relative proportion of the two species. This communication reports the redox states of glasses melted under air, argon, and oxygen atmospheres and relates them to the dissolution rates. The dissolution rate was found to be related to the redox state and it is lowered if the glass is melted under oxidizing atmospheres.  相似文献

Measurements of surface ozone and its precursor gases (NOx and CO) have been made at a semi‐arid site Anantapur (14.62°N, 77.65°E, 331 m asl) in tropical Indian region for the period, 2001–2003. NOx and CO levels were the highest during morning and late night hours at this site. Diurnal variations of ozone concentrations varied from 25 ppbv to 50 ppbv and were observed to increase gradually after sunrise, attaining a maximum value by the evening and decreasing gradually thereafter. During monsoon months, the diurnal amplitude of ozone was found to be small (20–25 ppbv). Seasonal variation in ozone showed a pronounced maximum (40–50 ppbv) in the winter and summer. Local pollutants were major contributors to the ozone levels during this period. Ozone shows a yearly mean mixing ratio of about 35.9 ± 8.8 ppbv. The daytime concentration of CO and NOx varied between 200 to 1200 ppbv and 3 to 20 ppbv respectively for the period studied. Annual average mixing ratios of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and CO were observed to be 3.9±0.6 ppbv and 436±64 ppbv, respectively.  相似文献

Diamond-like-carbon (DLC) coating of thickness 3 and 10 μm were developed with and without radical nitriding pretreatment on steel rollers and spur gear pair. The friction coefficient and wear amount were evaluated under sliding rolling contact condition in vacuum and under oil lubrication. Delamination of coatings was observed at the interface of the substrate. The wear resistance of coatings improved with the thickness of the coating. In vacuum both the roller and the gear pair of 10 μm coating thickness with radical nitriding showed identical wear behavior. The radical nitriding seemed to enhance the life of DLC coatings.  相似文献

Although several studies have focused on the removal of organics and pathogens during riverbank filtration (RBF), no study has been carried out on the attenuation of dyes during RBF. In the present work, removal of methylene blue (MB) through aquifer materials collected from five RBF sites in India has been investigated. Brunauer Emmet Teller (BET) surface areas of the aquifer materials were 1.2–6.5 m2/g. Adsorption followed the pseudo‐second‐order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm, suggesting monolayer adsorption. Column results showed saturation capacity of 0.467–1.234 mg MB/g for different aquifer materials. Retardation factors for MB were found to be very high ranging from 430 to 987, due to its high hydrophobicity (octanol/water partition coefficient = 5.85). Results showed that BET surface area or the roughness played a very important role in the retardation of MB. Results suggest that the breakthrough of MB in a RBF well in sandy aquifers will take several years.  相似文献

Manesar Nala watershed, having an aerial extent of 71.53 km2, was subjected to modelling of its hydrological behaviour for assessing its water resource potential. Modern tools and techniques of Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) were used for assessment of runoff generating potential using the Hydrologic Soil Cover Complex (HSCC) Method [U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)‐Soil Conservation System‐Curve Number (SCS‐CN) approach]. RS and GIS were used in generation and integration of thematic maps [such as Land use/Land cover (using LISS‐III data) and Hydrologic Soil Group (HSG), (using soil map of study area) to derive the Curve Number (CN) for simulating Runoff (Ro)]. The daily rainfall (P) data for the study period 2002–2015 were acquired from NOAA Climate Prediction Center (NCPC). Corresponding Ro from the watershed for intense storm events for 14 years were calculated through RS and GIS. GIS and SCS‐CN model was employed for modelling the runoff production to study its hydrological behaviour. The study showed that the Manesar Nala watershed was having a composite Curve Number – II (CNII) value of 82.5 for normal conditions. For dry and wet conditions these values were estimated at 66.44 (CNI) and 91.56 (CNIII), respectively. This investigation showed that Manesar Nala watershed exhibited an annual average (of 14 years, 2002–2015) Ro volume of 4 542 514.37 m3 based on the average annual rainfall (P) of 0.72 m (720 mm). The average annual surface runoff (Ro) was predicted to be approximately 0.21 m with annual runoff coefficient (CR) of 0.29. During the study, we also found a strong correlation ‘r’ between satellite driven P and Ro from NRCS‐CN method of the order of 0.94. The methodology so developed has the potential to be used in other similar ungauged watersheds in the same agro‐climatic conditions for the purpose of planning of watershed conservation measures and other developmental activities.  相似文献

Ultrafine La(Ca)CrO3 (LCC) powder was prepared through the glycine–nitrate gel combustion process. It was shown for the first time that the use of relatively inexpensive CrO3 as a starting material for chromium has potential for the bulk preparation of sinter-active LCC powder. As-prepared powder, when calcined at 700°C, resulted in LCC along with a small amount of CaCrO4. The calcined powder was found to be composed of soft agglomerates with a particle size of ≈70–290 nm. The cold pressing and sintering of the calcined powder at 1200°C resulted in the mono-phasic La0.7Ca0.3CrO3 with density ≈98% of its theoretical value. This is the lowest sintering temperature ever reported for La0.7Ca0.3CrO3. The conductivity of the sintered La0.7Ca0.3CrO3 at 1000°C was found to be ≈57 S/cm in air. The sintering and electrical behavior achieved for La0.7Ca0.3CrO3 may find application as an interconnect material for high-temperature solid oxide fuel cells if problems with chemical expansion and poor conductivity in fuel can be overcome.  相似文献

A laboratory-scale biofilm membrane bioreactor inoculated with Burkholderia vietnamiensis G4 was examined to treat toluene vapors in a waste gas stream. The gas feed side and nutrient solution were separated by a composite membrane consisting of a porous polyacrylonitrile (PAN) support layer coated with a very thin (0.3 μm) dense polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) top layer. After inoculation, a biofilm developed on the dense layer. The biofilm membrane bioreactor was operated continuously at different residence times (28–2 s) and loading rates (1.2–26.7 kg m−3 d−1), with inlet toluene concentrations ranging from 0.21 to 4.1 g m−3. The overall performance of the membrane bioreactor was evaluated over a period of 165 days. Removal efficiencies ranging from 78% to 99% and elimination capacities from 4.2 to 14.4 kg m−3 d−1 were observed after start-up period depending on the mode of operation. A maximum elimination capacity of 14.4 kg m−3 d−1 was observed at a loading rate of 17.4 kg m−3 d−1. Overall, the results illustrate that biofilm membrane reactors can potentially be more effective than conventional biofilters and biotrickling filters for the treatment of air pollutants such as toluene.  相似文献
