The Role of Starch Products in Glueing of Wood Materials by Synthetic Resin Adhesives. In the wood processing industry considerable amounts of starch products are used as extender for the glueing with synthetic resin adhesives based on aminoplasts (urea and melamine resins). They are not only useful to reduce the costs for the adhesives but have to fulfil rheological, cross-linkage regulating and stress belancing actions. The amount of additives, of course, is limited by the quality standards for glueings. By investigation of mathematical-statistical evaluated plywood glueings the upper limit of the grade of extension has been determined. Furthermore, the possible reduction of prices by various extender/water additions has been calculated. The behaviour of extenders in the glueline can be examined by microscopic investigations of stained microtome sections from glued objects.  相似文献

Vegetable purees can be interesting food products to enrich with omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3-LC-PUFA), since they are important carriers of nutrients and fibres and essential in a healthy diet. Due to their large number of double bounds, n-3-LC-PUFA are highly susceptible to lipid oxidation. Different vegetable purees, containing different types and amounts of endogenous antioxidants, may possibly show differences in oxidative stability. This study contributes to obtain more insight into the impact of the type of vegetable (broccoli, carrot or tomato) on the oxidative stability of purees enriched with heterotrophic (Schizochytrium) n-3-LC-PUFA-rich microalgal biomass. Therefore, different vegetable purees enriched with microalgae were compared with each other and analysed for their amount lipid oxidation products and antioxidants. Broccoli and tomato puree enriched with Schizochytrium showed a higher oxidative stability compared to enriched carrot puree. However, all of these Schizochytrium-enriched purees were prone to oxidation.  相似文献

Conducted tests with approximately 100 adult female albino Holtzman Sprague-Dawley rats. Bilateral electrolytic lesions in the periamygdaloid piriform cortex of Ss produced marked disruptive effects on the acquisition of active avoidance responses in a 1-way as well as a 2-way test situation, significantly impaired passive avoidance behavior, and inhibited feeding in a novel environment. Lesions in each of the 6 major subdivisions of the amygdala (cortical, medial, central, intercalated, lateral, and basolateral nuclei) consistently produced facilitatory effects on active avoidance behavior in 1-way as well as 2-way situations. Passive avoidance behavior was impaired in Ss with lesions in the central, intercalated, and basolateral nuclei. Damage to the anterior amygdaloid area or the nuclei of the lateral olfactory tract did not reliably affect active or passive avoidance behavior. Growth and metabolite production of three dominant bacterial isolates (Carnobacterium divergens 3M14, Leuconostoc carnosum 3M42, and Brochothrix thermosphacta RMS6) from modified-atmosphere-packaged (MAP), artisan-type cooked ham were assessed for their interactions in view of the development of a bioprotective culture. During monoculture experiments in cooked ham simulation medium, Leuc. carnosum 3M42 converted the available glucose into lactic acid and ethanol, whereas the two other strains produced additional metabolites such as acetic acid and 3-methyl-1-butanol. When grown in co-culture, Leuc. carnosum 3M42 suppressed the growth and metabolism of B. thermosphacta RMS6. In contrast, a co-culture of the latter bacterium with C. divergens 3M14 led to a variety of spoilage-related metabolic compounds. Subsequently, experiments with a commercial cooked ham product indicated that Leuc. carnosum 3M42 dominated the meat matrix and improved acceptability of the product over time, hence acting as a bioprotective culture for MAP, artisan-type cooked ham.  相似文献

At the beginning of this century, high blood pressure was virtually non-existent among the indigenous Kenyans. This phenomenon of normotension continued until the Second World War following which the Kenyan African began to exhibit progressive rise in blood pressure which was age-related. Similar changes were observed in Uganda at the same time. From about 25 years ago, high blood pressure became established in Kenya and the neighbouring countries, in particular Uganda. These trends have been observed in West Africa notably Ghana, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire and also in Cameroon and Zaire in the Central African region. Consumption of sodium salt and alcohol, psychological stress, obesity, physical inactivity and other dietary factors are thought to play important aetiologic role in the genesis of primary hypertension in the susceptible individuals. Low blood pressure communities still exist scattered all over the world, where blood pressure does not seem to rise with age. In Africa these have been observed in Kenya, Nigeria, Zaire and Kalahari Desert. They also exist in Pacific island, Australia, South America and elsewhere. Rural-urban migration coupled with acculturation and modernization trends have some relationship with the development of high blood pressure as observed in Kenyan and Ghanian epidemiologic studies.  相似文献
