The dye adsorption performance of four mesoporous silicas with different structure and textural properties, MCM-41, MCM-48, SBA-15 and mesocellular silica foam (MCF), was studied and compared by using toluidine blue O (TBO) as dye model in aqueous solution. These materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), small-angle X-ray scattering, nitrogen adsorption-desorption analyses, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The effect of some parameters such as adsorbent dosage, contact time, temperature, and pH on the TBO removal in aqueous solution was studied. Results showed that adsorption capacity raised when adsorbent dosage, contact time and pH solution were increased while an increase in temperature decreased the adsorption of TBO. Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models were employed to elucidate the adsorption mechanism while the adsorption rate data were analyzed according to the pseudo-first and second-order kinetic models. Results showed that adsorption of TBO onto MCM-48, SBA-15, and MCF fitted well the Freundlich isotherm model while the kinetic studies showed that adsorption process could be better described by the pseudo-second-order model for all mesoporous silicas. Finally, some solvents were evaluated to carried out dye desorption from the TBO-loaded mesoporous silicas founding that acetic acid was the most efficient.  相似文献

Mastitis is a highly prevalent condition that has a great impact on milk production and animal welfare, and often requires substantial management efforts. For this reason, it is generally considered an important threat to the dairy industry. Many microbial, host, and environmental factors can protect against, predispose to, or influence the development of mastitis. The objective of this work was to characterize the milk microbiota of Manchega ewes, and to compare samples from animals with and without a history of mastitis. We analyzed milk samples from 36 ewes belonging to 2 different farms (18 ewes from each farm) using culture-dependent and culture-independent techniques. We also analyzed several immune compounds to investigate associations of mastitis with 3 main variables: farm; history of mastitis or no mastitis; and parity number. Both culture-dependent and culture-independent techniques showed that ewe milk harbored a site-specific complex microbiota and microbiome. Staphylococcus epidermidis was the main species driving the difference between farm A (where it was the dominant species) and B (where it was not). In contrast, samples from farm B were characterized by the presence of a wide spectrum of other coagulase-negative staphylococci. Some of these species have already been associated with subclinical intramammary infections in ruminants. Of the 10 immune compounds assayed in this study, 3 were related to a history of mastitis [IL-8, IFN-γ, and IFN-gamma-induced protein 10 (IP-10)]. Increases in IL-8 concentrations in milk seemed to be a feature of subclinical mastitis in sheep, and in this study, this immune factor was detected only in samples from ewes with some episodes of mastitis and from the group with the highest somatic cell count. We also observed a positive correlation between the samples with the highest somatic cell count and IFN-γ and IP-10 levels. Our results suggest that these 3 compounds could be used as biomarkers for the negative selection of mastitis-prone animals, particularly when somatic cell count is very high.  相似文献

Natural Killer T (NKT) cells play an important role in the immune response and can be activated by glycolipids presented by CD1d protein. We present MCS-0208, an unprecedented arylthioether-phytoceramide able to induce potent invariant NKT (iNKT) cell activation, notably when tested in human iNKT cells. This arylsphingolipid analog has a simple phenyl group containing a single hydroxyl substituent as a surrogate of the sugar ring. The phenylthioether structure contrasts with α-galactosylceramide ( 1 ), the prototypical glycolipid used to induce iNKT cell stimulation, where the galactose 2’-OH and 3’-OH substituents are accepted as the minimal footprint and considered critical for NKT T cell receptor (TCR) recognition. A computational study supports the recognition of aromatic compound by the CD1d and TCR proteins as radically new structures for NKT cell stimulation.  相似文献

Food security and nutrition is a multidimensional theme consisting of three pillars: food access, availability, and sufficiency. Given food security and nutrition's extent, its measures are usually limited. To address these limitations, this paper proposes the creation of a disaggregated food insecurity index for Brazilian states, with the three dimensions in mind. The results show that while food availability elevates the average of the index, the sufficiency still is a problem. Even though the distribution of and access to food in Brazil has increased in the last years, it was not combined with policies that guarantee its safety and quality, reinforcing the need for specific interventions considering regional particularities.  相似文献

The design of sustainable logistics solutions poses new challenges for the study of vehicle‐routing problems. The design of efficient systems for transporting products via a heterogeneous fleet of vehicles must consider the minimization of cost, emissions of greenhouse gases, and the ability to serve every customer within an available time slot. This phenomenon gives rise to a multi‐objective problem that considers the emission of greenhouse gases, the total traveling time, and the number of customers served. The proposed model is approached with an ε‐constraint technique that allows small instances to be solved and an evolutionary algorithm is proposed to deal with complex instances. Results for small instances show that all the points that approach the Pareto frontier found by the evolutionary algorithm are nondominated by any solution found by the multi‐objective model. For complex instances, nondominated solutions that serve most of the requests are found with low computational requirements.  相似文献

The visualization of microtubules by combining optical and electron microscopy techniques provides valuable information to understand correlated intracellular activities. However, the lack of appropriate probes to bridge both microscopic resolutions restricts the areas and structures that can be comprehended within such highly assembled structures. Here, a versatile cyclometalated iridium (III) complex is designed that achieves synchronous fluorescence–electron microscopy correlation. The selective insertion of the probe into a microtubule triggers remarkable fluorescence enhancement and promising electron contrast. The long-life, highly photostable probe allows live-cell super-resolution imaging of tubulin localization and motion with a resolution of ≈30 nm. Furthermore, correlative light–electron microscopy and energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy reveal the well-associated optical and electron signal at a high specificity, with an interspace of ≈41 Å of microtubule monomer in cells.  相似文献
