The basic idea behind LBP is that an image is composed of micropatterns. A histogram of these micropatterns contains information about the local features in an image. These micropatterns can be divided into two types: uniform and non-uniform. In standard applications using LBP, only the uniform patterns are used. The non-uniform patterns are considered in only a single bin of the histogram that is used to extract features in the classification stage. Non-uniform patterns have undesirable characteristics: they are of a high dimension, partially correlated, and introduce unwanted noise. To offset these disadvantages, we explore using random subspace, well-known to work well with noise and correlated features, to train features based also on non-uniform patterns. We find that a stand-alone support vector machine performs best with the uniform patterns and random subspace with histograms of 50 bins performs best with the non-uniform patterns. Superior results are obtained when the two are combined. Based on extensive experiments conducted in several domains using several benchmark databases, it is our conclusion that non-uniform patterns improve classifier performance. 相似文献

In this study, a novel and simple diffractive spectrographic method for real-time measurements of circular dichroism (CD) is considered from a theoretical and experimental approach. A demonstrator prototype of the CD spectrograph has been developed and its performance has been compared with a commercial phase-modulation CD spectrometer. The main element of the device is a polarization holographic grating, recorded in a thin photosensitive organic film, by two interfering opposite circularly polarized beams. A peculiarity of this grating is that the amplitude of the +1 (-1) order of diffraction is proportional to the right (left) circular polarization component of the incoming beam. Here we demonstrate that the CD spectrum of a specimen can be easily evaluated from the intensities of the diffracted beams. A white light beam passing through the specimen is diffracted from the grating and the intensities of the +/-1 orders of diffraction are measured. Due to the spectral selectivity of the grating, the CD at each wavelength can be evaluated at the same time using two linear array detectors. 相似文献

The paper 1 reflects on the EU objective of territorial cohesion, exploring its role as a catalytic concept around which several (spatial and non-spatial) discourses and policy practices have been generated in European Spatial Planning. Interleukin I alpha (IL-1) is a potent agent that induces a wide range of biological effects. In this study we analysed its effects on cell cycle progression and differentiation of Daudi lymphoma cells. The parallel analysis in light microscopy and cytofluorimetry by means of anti-BrdU monoclonal antibodies showed a reduced rate of proliferation (S phase) with a G1 arrest. These features were confirmed by the lower incorporation of [3H]-thymidine supporting the decrease in the rate of DNA synthesis. In addition this cytokine was able to induce differentiation after 24 hrs of treatment as assessed by the increased expression of Fc receptors (FcR) and morphological criteria. This multiparametric analysis gives evidence to the sensitivity to this cytokine of this peculiar cell line. 相似文献

We used a monoclonal antibody (mAb) (B203.13, IgM) generated from a mouse immunized with the human B/myeloid bi-phenotypic B1b cell line, to analyse haemopoietic cells. The antigen recognized by this mAb is expressed on most adult and umbilical cord blood CD21+ B cells, at minimal density on mature monocytes, and is undetectable on granulocytes, T, natural killer (NK) cells, and erythrocytes. Within umbilical cord blood and adult bone marrow haemopoietic progenitor cells, the B203.13 mAb recognized a surface marker, present on progenitor cells of several haemopoietic lineages, that was transiently expressed on early erythroid and T/NK progenitors, and was preferentially maintained on cells of the B and myeloid lineages. Within the CD34+ cells, B203.13 was expressed on early committed myeloid (CD33+) and erythroid (CD71dim) progenitor cells, as confirmed in colony formation assays. The mAb also reacted with cells of B and myeloid chronic leukaemias and cell lines. These data define B203.13 mAb as a novel reagent useful for the characterization of haemopoietic progenitors and leukaemias. 相似文献
