Pavlovian heart rate (HR) and eyeblink (EB) conditioning were assessed in 4 groups of Ss who differed in age: young?=?19–33 yrs, young middle-aged?=?35–48 yrs, old middle-aged?=?50–63 yrs, and old?=?66–78 yrs. A 100-msec corneal airpuff was the unconditioned stimulus/stimuli (UCS) and a 600-msec tone was the CS. A nonassociative control group received explicitly unpaired tone and airpuff presentations. All Ss were studied for 2 100-trial sessions separated by approximately 7 days. An impairment in acquisition of both the EB and HR responses occurred in the old and middle-age Ss, but all age groups showed significantly greater conditioning than did the control group. Slight increases in performance resulted from a 2nd session of training. These findings suggest and age-related impairment in a general associative process. Measurements are presented of the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of individual thiol-tethered porphyrin molecules (isolated in an alkanethiol matrix) and of self-assembled monolayers. In both cases, it is found that I/V(2) displays a minimum at a characteristic "transition voltage" V(m). Repeated measurements of the transition voltage enable both its time development and statistical behavior to be determined. For isolated molecules, the transition voltage shows a multipeaked distribution of values, indicating the presence of a small number of distinct molecular/contact configurations, each having different transport characteristics. For self-assembled monolayers, in contrast, a single-peaked distribution was observed, which is consistent with parallel conduction through many molecules. 相似文献

Using atmospheric opacity measurements made at 278 GHz (9.3 cm?1) at McMurdo Station, Antarctica during the austral springs of 1986 and 1987, combined with measurements of water vapor profile and total column density from near-simultaneous balloon flights, we have determined the attenuation per mm of precipitable water vapor (pwv) at this frequency. Our data were taken at significantly lower temperatures than other measurements in the literature for which accompanying water vapor pressure and temperature data are available. The results show a strong inverse dependence with temperature: measured opacity per mm of pwv is roughly a factor of two times greater at ?35°C than at ?10°C and three times greater than measurements at the same wavelength at +25°C reported by Zammit and Ade. We briefly review various theories proposed to explain excess absorption in continuum regions. Our lowtemperature measurements demonstrate a significantly greater inverse temperature dependence than embodied in several formulations, theoretical or empirical, proposed to represent mm-wave attenuation as a function of temperature and water vapor. The present results are qualitatively similar to observations of strong inverse temperature dependence in the near IR, but if attributed to water vapor dimer formation, imply a greater binding energy for the dimer than generally proposed by others. There is some independent evidence for a local anomaly in temperature dependence as a function of frequency near 280 GHz. It remains to be established whether our own results are strongly frequency dependent or apply generally to the mm-wave continuum. 相似文献

Deep annotation of a library of 4-anilinoquin(az)olines led to the identification of 7-iodo-N-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)quinolin-4-amine 16 as a potent inhibitor (IC50=14 nM) of Protein Kinase Novel 3 (PKN3) with micromolar activity in cells. Compound 16 is a potential tool compound to study the cell biology of PKN3 and its role in pancreatic and prostate cancer and T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. These 4-anilinoquin(az)olines may also be useful tools to uncover the therapeutic potential of PKN3 inhibition in a broad range of diseases. 相似文献
