A contactless detector is presented for evaluating hand tremors caused by exercise-induced fatigue and early Parkinson’s disease. The device consists of a spiral coil, a microcontroller, and an inductive sensor circuitry. Theory shows that the resonant frequency of the circuitry increases when the distance between the hand and the spiral coil decreases, thus small variations of distance from tremor can be detected from the changes of resonant frequencies. A mechanical hand was built for experiments to simulate human hand tremors with repeatability at a fixed frequency. The magnitudes and frequencies of the tremors in the mechanical hand were quantitatively identified using the inductive sensor. Hence, feasibility and accuracy of the contactless hand tremor detector were determined. A triaxial accelerometer was used for comparison. By comparing spectral distributions and magnitudes of the tremors, the inductive sensor performed better than the accelerometer. The detector was applied to evaluate actual hand tremors of three subjects who had undergone exercise to induce tremors. The tremor waveform amplitudes of the subjects were quantitatively analyzed by the standard deviations method. The increased signal energies of exercise-induced tremor within 8–12 Hz were confirmed. Then, a subject with early Parkinson’s disease was evaluated by the proposed hand tremor detector. The tremor magnitudes and frequencies of the patient hand were quantitatively identified within in 4–7 Hz. Therefore, the new contactless hand tremor detector can be developed as a clinical instrument for monitoring the fatigue symptoms of post-exercise and diagnosing the early Parkinson’s disease.  相似文献

Nanocomposites of biobased thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) from dimer fatty acids and halloysite nanotubes (HNT) were elaborated by different melt processing routes such as direct mixing (1 step process) and masterbatch/dilution (2 steps process), at different temperatures (150 and 180 °C). Rheological and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses indicated that the HNT distribution and dispersion were dependent on the processing conditions: the 2 steps process produced well dispersed nanocomposites and the masterbatch dilution at 180 °C improved the HNT distribution through the TPU. Consequently, a high reinforcement was achieved, with a 40% increase in the elastic modulus and 8 °C increase in the relaxation temperature related to the glass transition of the TPU soft segments. Furthermore, a percolated network was attained, even if a large extent of HNT breaking was observed during processing, suggesting that a synergistic effect between the HNT particles and the TPU's hard segments in the molten state occurred. Thus, HNT nanotubes can be seen as highly reinforcing nanofillers when good dispersion and distribution are achieved through the polymeric matrix.  相似文献

The influence of cereal blends, teff–white sorghum (TwS), barley–wheat (BW) and wheat–red sorghum (WrS), on fermentation kinetics during traditional fermentation of dough to prepare injera, an Ethiopian traditional fermented pancake, was investigated in samples collected in households. Barley malt was used with BW and WrS flours. WrS- and BW-injera sourdough fermentations were characterised by a transient accumulation of glucose and maltose and a two-step fermentation process: lactic acid fermentation and alcoholic fermentation with ethanol as the main end product. Only transient accumulation of glucose was observed in TwS-injera, and equimolar concentrations of lactic acid and ethanol were produced simultaneously. Final α-galactoside concentrations were low in all sourdoughs. Phytic acid (IP6) was completely hydrolyzed in WrS and BW-injeras probably due to the combined action of endogenous malt and microbial phytases. Only 28% IP6 hydrolysis was observed in TwS injera. Ways to improve IP6 hydrolysis in TwS-injera need to be investigated.  相似文献

Renewable thermoplastic blends based on polyurethane (TPU) and polyamide (DAPA) obtained from dimers of fatty acids were reinforced with mineral microfillers, surface coated calcium carbonate (CaCO3) or high aspect ratio talc (HAR), to prepare different micro‐biocomposites systems. The influence of the nature of the filler, the aspect ratio and the filler content (5, 10, and 15 wt %), for different TPU/DAPA ratios (20/80, 50/50, and 80/20 wt %/wt %), were specifically investigated. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analyses were conducted to investigate the thermal properties. DSC analyses showed that the addition of CaCO3 had no influence on the glass transition and the melting temperature of the corresponding composites. Moreover, the morphology and the mechanical properties in the solid state of the different multiphase systems were investigated. SEM observations after tensile tests showed that the best matrix/filler interactions were obtained in the case of the 20/80‐based systems. Uniaxial tensile tests have shown that the addition of HAR or CaCO3 fillers led to a clear increase of the Young modulus. Micromechanical models based on a two‐phase composite approach, including Mori–Tanaka and Davies models were used to describe the dependence of the elastic modulus on the volume fraction of HAR or CaCO3 fillers. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thermal loading induces modifications of the precipitation microstructure of Al–Si–Cu–Mg alloys. This study focuses on the effect of deformation on precipitation microstructure during thermomechanical loadings. Several specimens were thermomechanically cycled while others were exposed to the same thermal cycles without any mechanical loading. The nature and morphological characteristics of the precipitation microstructure of the thermomechanically cycled specimens are compared to those of the thermally aged ones, using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), in order to assess the effect of deformation on the precipitation microstructure and especially on the kinetics of precipitate growth. The absence of any significant effect of superimposed straining during thermal cycling is discussed. Implications for the prevision of yield strength degradation during service operation are briefly presented.

The study and use of some types of syntbetic lubricants can be traced back 50 years.1 Within the past twenty years, rapid advances in technology have resulted in syntbetic lubricants that can operate satisfactorily over temperature extremes well beyond the capabilities of conventional petroleum-based oils. Current emphasis is on the ability of some types of synthetic lubricants to allow more efficient system operation, with concomitant energy savings and extended equipment and oil life. Several definitions have been proposed for synthetic lubricants. In this paper, the authors define a synthetic lubricant as a product which consists of base fluids manufactured by chemical synthesis and containing necessary performance additives. Thus the base fluids are tailored, through specific chemical reactions, to meet predetermined physical and chemical quality targets. In this paper, discussion will be limited to (a) a review of the types of chemicals which have been studied for use in synthetic lubricants and (b) selected application data which dramatise some of the advantages gained through use of the synthetic lubricant.  相似文献
