An analytical study is performed on solar energy utilization in space cooling of a small residential application using a solar lithium bromide absorption system. A simulation program for modeling and performance evaluation of the solar-operated absorption cycle is done for all possible climatic conditions of Beirut. The results have shown that for each ton of refrigeration it is required to have a minimum collector area of 23.3 m2 with an optimal water storage tank capacity ranging from 1000 to 1500 liters for the system to operate solely on solar energy for about seven hours a day. The monthly solar fraction of total energy use in cooling is determined as a function of solar collector area and storage tank capacity.An economic assessment is performed based on current cost of conventional cooling systems. It is found that the solar cooling system is marginally competitive only when combined with domestic water heating.  相似文献

The popularity of mobile devices has been steadily growing in recent years. These devices heavily depend on software from the underlying operating systems to the applications they run. Prior research showed that mobile software is different than traditional, large software systems. However, to date most of our research has been conducted on traditional software systems. Very little work has focused on the issues that mobile developers face. Therefore, in this paper, we use data from the popular online Q&A site, Stack Overflow, and analyze 13,232,821 posts to examine what mobile developers ask about. We employ Latent Dirichlet allocation-based topic models to help us summarize the mobile-related questions. Our findings show that developers are asking about app distribution, mobile APIs, data management, sensors and context, mobile tools, and user interface development. We also determine what popular mobile-related issues are the most difficult, explore platform specific issues, and investigate the types (e.g., what, how, or why) of questions mobile developers ask. Our findings help highlight the challenges facing mobile developers that require more attention from the software engineering research and development communities in the future and establish a novel approach for analyzing questions asked on Q&A forums.  相似文献

A mesoscale oscillatory baffled reactor (meso‐OBR) served as a continuous screening platform to rapidly investigate the operating conditions for acid‐catalyzed production of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) from triglyceride feedstock. The acid catalyst was 4‐dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) and the triglyceride feedstock was rapeseed oil (RSO). The parameter space was explored by means of a design of experiments (DoE) methodology. The variables screened were methanol‐to‐RSO molar ratio, catalyst‐to‐oil molar ratio, and residence time. Over 98 % conversion of RSO to FAME could be achieved under optimized conditions.  相似文献

IPTV is considered to be the next killer application. A key, challenging issue is in-home IPTV distribution with affordable deployment cost and sufficient flexibility, scalability, and reliability. In this article, we first survey and compare the emerging wired and wireless communication technologies for broadband home networks, including transmission over power lines, phone lines, coaxial cables or Ethernet cables, and IEEE 802.1 In, ultra wideband and millimeter wave wireless technologies. Considering these promising candidates for future broadband home networks, we propose three wireless mesh network architectures. These enable consumers to enjoy anywhere, anytime IPTV services without rewiring their homes. We compare the cost, reliability, and scalability of the three architectures. We further study their admission regions for IPTV, that is, the number of IPTV connections that can be supported simultaneously with satisfactory QoS. Analytical and simulation results with H.264 HDTV sources over wired, single hop wireless, and multi-hop wireless paths are given. These results can provide important guidelines for future broadband home network design supporting IPTV services.  相似文献

The aim of the present project was to design and operate a solar reactor system and to analyze its performance for the removal of different types of toxic organic pollutants (e.g., synthetic methyl violet dye and phenol) from water with titanium dioxide as the photocatalyst. Various operating parameters were studied to investigate the behavior of the designed reactor like initial substrate concentration, loading of catalyst, pH of solution, and H2O2 concentration. The operating parameters were optimized to give higher efficiency to the reactor performance. Results showed that a photocatalysis system, operating at optimum conditions, offered within one hour of operation degradation up to 95.27% for synthetic dye, while a conversion of 99.95% was obtained in three hours. With phenol, degradation was up to 80.0% and 98.0%, respectively. The removal of TOC for the two toxic materials was also at high levels. This confirmed the feasibility of the designed solar system. The kinetics of dye degradation was first order with respect to dye concentration and could be well described by Langmuir-Hinshelwood model. A preliminary design of a solar photocatalysis system as an alternative treatment method for wastewater effluents from an Iraqi textile mill was introduced.  相似文献

The clinical use of tacrolimus (FK506) is limited by nephrotoxicity. The pathogenesis of fibrosis in chronic FK506 nephrotoxicity remains unknown. Because transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta plays a key role in the fibrogenesis of many diseases, including cyclosporine nephrotoxicity, we studied a salt-depleted rat model of chronic FK506 nephropathy in which clinically relevant FK506 blood levels are obtained and which shows similarities to the lesions described in patients receiving FK506. Pair-fed rats were treated with either FK506 (1 mg/kg/day s.c.) or an equivalent dose of vehicle and were killed at 7 or 28 days. Characteristic histologic changes of tubular injury, interstitial fibrosis, and arteriolopathy developed in FK506-treated rats at 28 days and were accompanied by worsening kidney function, decreased concentrating ability, and enzymuria. FK506-treated kidneys had a progressive increase in the expression of TGF-beta1 and matrix proteins (biglycan, tenascin, fibronectin, and type I collagen). This effect seems to be specific because the expression of type IV collagen, a basement membrane collagen, was not affected. Matrix deposition was present mostly in the tubulointerstitium and vessels in accordance with the FK506 chronic lesion. The expression of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, a protease inhibitor influenced by TGF-beta, followed TGF-beta1 and matrix proteins, suggesting that the fibrosis of chronic FK506 nephropathy likely involves the dual action of TGF-beta1 on matrix deposition and degradation. Since both peripheral and tissue renin expression were elevated with FK506, the renin-angiotensin system may play a role in the pathogenesis of this condition.  相似文献

In a fully automated manufacturing environment, instant detection of the cutting tool condition is essential for the improved productivity and cost effectiveness. This paper studies a tool condition monitoring system (TCM) via machine learning (ML) and machine ensemble (ME) approach to investigate the effectiveness of multisensor fusion technique when machining 4340 steel with multilayer coated and multiflute carbide end mill cutter. In this study, 135 different features are extracted from multiple sensor signals of force, vibration, acoustic emission and spindle power in the time and frequency domain by using data acquisition and signal processing module. Then, a correlation-based feature selection technique (CFS) evaluates the significance of these features along with machining parameters collected from machining experiments. Next, an optimal feature subset is computed for various assorted combinations of sensors. Finally, machine ensemble methods based on majority voting and stacked generalization are studied for the selected features to classify not only flank wear but also breakage and chipping. It has been found in this paper that the stacked generalization ensemble can ensure the highest accuracy in tool condition monitoring. In addition, it has been shown that the support vector machine (SVM) outperforms other ML algorithms in most cases tested.  相似文献

This paper describes a distributed database system implementation built on top of stand-alone mobile databases found on mobile devices. At the heart of the architecture are elected devices that take on the role of data directories which collect the schema of the databases and become the contact points for all nodes that wish to submit queries against the distributed database. The system is implemented on Pocket PCs that run the Microsoft WinCE operating system and communicate using Bluetooth, thus limiting the architecture to eight devices, which is a restriction imposed by piconets. Sample databases were configured on the devices that ran the SQL Server CE database engine, and a list of 170 sample queries of varying complexities were designed to conduct performance evaluation. This evaluation involved measurement of query response time, generated traffic, and device energy consumption. The obtained results indicated the feasibility of the system and its potential for providing mobile users with a framework for aggregating disparate data that are stored in mobile databases in the wireless ad hoc network.  相似文献
