This paper considers a satellite network with data messages being transmitted by land mobile users according to slotted Aloha multiple access. The mobile communication links suffering from multipath fading and signal shadowing are modelled as Gilbert-Elliott channels. FEC block coding is used to correct transmission errors. The maximum achievable information throughput and the mean packet delay are derived from a combined analysis of the multiple access and FEC/ARQ protocol. The results show that the additional overhead necessary for FEC is outweighed by the benefit in throughput and delay. Finally, the capture effect and its consequences are discussed.  相似文献

A review is given of contemporary research on the hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engine. The emphasis is on light- to medium-duty engine research. We first describe hydrogen-engine fundamentals by examining the engine-specific properties of hydrogen and surveying the existing literature. Here it will be shown that, due to low volumetric efficiencies and frequent preignition combustion events, the power densities of premixed or port-fuel-injected hydrogen engines are diminished relative to gasoline-fueled engines. Significant progress has been made in the development of advanced hydrogen engines with improved power densities. We discuss several examples and their salient features. Finally, we consider the overall progress made and provide suggestions for future work.  相似文献

This article is on effects that can destroy SiC power semiconductor devices. The failure physics in SiC devices are discussed based on the well understood effects in silicon devices. In some device properties, such as surge current, short circuit, static avalanche and dynamic avalanche, SiC has significant possible advantages compared to silicon. For cosmic ray stability, there are no unique results. Regarding thermal mechanical stress on interface materials, SiC is more challenging. The same may hold for electrical stress in passivation layers at the junction termination.  相似文献

It was reported recently that cellobiose 2-epimerases (CE) from various aerobic microorganisms convert lactose to epilactose in defined buffer systems. In this study, we showed that CE from 2 mesophilic microorganisms, Flavobacterium johnsoniae and Pedobacter heparinus, were capable of converting lactose to prebiotic epilactose not only in buffer but also in a complex milk system. First, the 2 enzymes were separately cloned, recombinantly expressed in Escherichia coli, and purified by column chromatography. The production of F. johnsoniae CE was carried out in a stirred-tank reactor, indicating that future upscaling is possible. The bioconversions of milk lactose were carried out at an industrially relevant low temperature of 8°C to avoid undesired microbial contaminations or chemical side reactions. Both enzymes were reasonably active at this low temperature, because of their origin from mesophilic organisms. The enzymes showed different operational stabilities over a 24-h time-course. A conversion yield of about 30 to 33% epilactose was achieved with both enzymes. No side products were detected other than epilactose. Therefore, CE may introduce an added value for particular dairy products by in situ production of the prebiotic sugar epilactose.  相似文献

Abstract

Microalgae are unicellular microorganisms that can be rich in proteins and are therefore a valuable ingredient in different foods. So far microalgae are mainly utilized in foods in low concentrations as a whole-cell ingredient even though it is known that proteins extracted from microalgae can possibly posess various technofunctional properties, such as high protein solubility, emulsification, foaming, and gelation properties. The widespread usage of protein-rich ingredients obtained from microalgae is for the most part prevented by the high price of the biomass, the lack of efficient downstream processes, and the adverse taste. The aim of this review is to give insights into the fundamental properties of the growth and processing of microalgae, highlight the advantages of microalgae ingredients and show potential applications based on the technofunctional, nutritional and sensory properties that were reported. Moreover, the existing challenges and knowledge gaps that hinder the application of microalgal proteins in foods are discussed.  相似文献

Perfluoroalkyl compounds (PFCs) were determined in 22 surface water samples (39-76°N) and three sea ice core and snow samples (77-87°N) collected from North Pacific to the Arctic Ocean during the fourth Chinese Arctic Expedition in 2010. Geographically, the average concentration of ∑PFC in surface water samples were 560 ± 170 pg L(-1) for the Northwest Pacific Ocean, 500 ± 170 pg L(-1) for the Arctic Ocean, and 340 ± 130 pg L(-1) for the Bering Sea, respectively. The perfluoroalkyl carboxylates (PFCAs) were the dominant PFC class in the water samples, however, the spatial pattern of PFCs varied. The C(5), C(7) and C(8) PFCAs (i.e., perfluoropentanoate (PFPA), perfluoroheptanoate (PFHpA), and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA)) were the dominant PFCs in the Northwest Pacific Ocean while in the Bering Sea the PFPA dominated. The changing in the pattern and concentrations in Pacific Ocean indicate that the PFCs in surface water were influenced by sources from the East-Asian (such as Japan and China) and North American coast, and dilution effect during their transport to the Arctic. The presence of PFCs in the snow and ice core samples indicates an atmospheric deposition of PFCs in the Arctic. The elevated PFC concentration in the Arctic Ocean shows that the ice melting had an impact on the PFC levels and distribution. In addition, the C(4) and C(5) PFCAs (i.e., perfluorobutanoate (PFBA), PFPA) became the dominant PFCs in the Arctic Ocean indicating that PFBA is a marker for sea ice melting as the source of exposure.  相似文献
