Prudent management of Iraqi water resources under climate change conditions requires plans to be based on actual figures of the storage capacity of existing reservoirs. With the absence of sediment flushing measures, the actual storage capacity of Dokan Reservoir (operated since 1959) has been affected by the amount of sediment delivered during its operational life leading to an undetermined reduction in its storage capacity. In consequence, there has not been an update on the dam's operational storage capacity curves. In this research, new operational curves were established for the reservoir based on a recent bathymetric survey undertaken in 2014. The reduction in reservoir capacity during the period between 1959 and 2014 was calculated by the mean of the difference between the designed storage capacity and the storage capacity which was concluded from the 2014 bathymetric survey. Moreover, the rate of sediment transported to the reservoir was calculated based on the overall quantities of accumulated sediment and the water discharge of the Lesser Zab River into the reservoir. The results indicate that the dam capacity is reduced by 25% due to sedimentation of an estimated volume of 367 million cubic metres at water level 480 m.a.s.l. The annual sedimentation rate was about 6.6 million cubic metres, and the sediment yield was estimated to be 701.2 t?km?3?year. 相似文献

针对循环流化床锅炉冷态启动用油量较大的问题,采用两台相邻锅炉一次热风风道联络的方法,实践中利用邻炉一次热风进行锅炉冷态启动,以煤代油缩短锅炉点火投油时间。结果表明:此方法使锅炉冷态启动时的用油量大幅下降,达到了显著的节能效果,并在此基础上展望了一次热风联络技术在锅炉防腐保养、冬季防冻等方面的应用前景。 相似文献

Highly porous free-standing co-poly(vinylidene fluoride)/modacrylic/SiO2 nanofibrous membrane was developed using electrically-assisted solution blow spinning method. The performance and the potential of the membrane as a lithium-ion battery separator were investigated. The addition of modacrylic enhanced the solution spinnability that resulted in defect-free membranes. Moreover, the presence of modacrylic enhanced the dimensional and thermal stabilities, while the addition of hydrophilic SiO2 nanoparticle enhanced both mechanical property and ionic conductivity. Combustion test results illustrated that the presence of modacrylic provide flame retarding property over a set of different polymeric-based membranes. Electrochemical performance results showed that the developed membrane can increase the battery capacity compared with the commercial separator. 相似文献

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is extensively used in frictional applications due to its advanced wear resistance. This advanced polymer is reinforced with hard particulate fillers for further developments against wear conditions. Since elevated temperatures prevail in the service conditions, wear behavior of UHMWPE composites is an important issue for the engineering applications. In the present work, UHMWPE-based composites including silicon carbide (SiC) fillers were fabricated in a compression molding chamber. In the specimen preparation stage, molding pressure, filler amount, and filler particle size were varied to investigate the influence of these variables. Upon deciding the optimum parameters from the wear tests conducted at room temperature, the wear experiments were repeated for the optimum specimen at elevated temperatures, such as 40 and 60°C. According to the results, the wear behavior of the SiC/UHMWPE composites is heavily changed by the effect of elevated temperature. Adhesive effect is pronounced at elevated temperatures while the wear characteristics possess the abrasive effect in the sliding path. In addition, the composites exhibit an accelerated material loss as temperature increases during the frictional system. 相似文献

In this paper, the robust input covariance constraint (ICC) control problem with polytopic uncertainty is solved using convex optimization with linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. The ICC control problem is an optimal control problem that optimizes the output performance subjected to multiple constraints on the input covariance matrices. This control problem has significant practical implications when hard constraints need to be satisfied on control actuators. The contribution of this paper is the characterization of the control synthesis LMIs used to solve the robust ICC control problem for polytopic uncertain systems. Both continuous‐ and discrete‐time systems are considered. Parameter‐dependent and independent Lyapunov functions have been used for robust ICC controller synthesis. The game problem of pursuit is studied for dynamic processes evolving under uncertainty and counteraction. The terminal set is supposed to be a cylindrical set-valued mapping. The method of resolving functions is used to establish the sufficient conditions for the game termination in the class of quasi- and stroboscopic strategies for various schemes of the method. Rotman lenses are used to obtain multiple beams from a single array. Although the beams produced by the feed antennas at focal points have no path length errors, the beams produced by feed antennas at off focal points may have large path length errors. These path length errors cause deterioration in the multiple beams. In this article, two novel methods are introduced to obtain feed curves which reduce the path length errors of off focal feed points significantly, compared with the commonly used circular and elliptical feed curves. The first method obtains feed curve points based on having zero path length error at three chosen points of the radiating array for each beam direction. The second method uses the particle swarm optimization method for obtaining optimum feed points for each beam direction. The results show that there is a very significant drop in the level of the maximum path length errors (in the order of about 1:4). © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Even though a lot of researches have been conducted in order to solve the problem of unconstrained handwriting recognition, an effective solution is still a serious challenge. In this article, we address two Arabic handwriting recognition-related issues. Firstly, we present IESK-arDB, a new multi-propose off-line Arabic handwritten database. It is publicly available and contains more than 4,000 word images, each equipped with binary version, thinned version as well as a ground truth information stored in separate XML file. Additionally, it contains around 6,000 character images segmented from the database. A letter frequency analysis showed that the database exhibits letter frequencies similar to that of large corpora of digital text, which proof the database usefulness. Secondly, we proposed a multi-phase segmentation approach that starts by detecting and resolving sub-word overlaps, then hypothesizing a large number of segmentation points that are later reduced by a set of heuristic rules. In this paper, a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) based variable structure control (VSC) is presented. The main objective is to obtain an improved performance of highly non‐linear unstable systems. New functions for chattering reduction and error convergence without sacrificing invariant properties are proposed. The main feature of the proposed method is that the switching function is added as an additional fuzzy variable and will be introduced in the premise part of the fuzzy rules; together with the state variables. In this work, a tuning of the well known weighting parameters approach is proposed to optimize local and global approximation and modelling capability of the Takagi‐Sugeno (T‐S) fuzzy model to improve the choice of the performance index and minimize it. The main problem encountered is that the T‐S identification method can not be applied when the membership functions are overlapped by pairs. This in turn restricts the application of the T‐S method because this type of membership function has been widely used in control applications. The approach developed here can be considered as a generalized version of the T‐S method. An inverted pendulum mounted on a cart is chosen to evaluate the robustness, effectiveness, accuracy and remarkable performance of the proposed estimation approach in comparison with the original T‐S model. Simulation results indicate the potential, simplicity and generality of the estimation method and the robustness of the chattering reduction algorithm. In this paper, we prove that the proposed estimation algorithm converge the very fast, thereby making it very practical to use. The application of the proposed FLC‐VSC shows that both alleviation of chattering and robust performance are achieved. 相似文献
