A novel beta-galactoside-binding lectin in cultured murine lymphocytic leukemia cells

Using affinity chromatography on lactosyl-Sepharose, a beta-galactoside-binding protein of 38 kDa was detected in mouse L1210 lymphocytic leukemia cells. Immunoblotting analysis revealed that it is distinct from any known larger molecular weight galectin. The partial amino acid sequences of the 38 kDa protein indicated that it is a novel member of the galectin family. This 38 kDa lectin is expressed in lymphocytic cell lines but not macrophage-like cell lines.     

Optimal input design for autoregressive model discrimination with constrained output variance

The optimal input design problem is considered for discriminating autoregressive models when the output variance is constrained. It is shown that aDs-optimal input design can be achieved with an input comprised of a finite number of sinusoidal components with frequencies and amplitudes determined by solving a system of nonlinear equations. Digital simulation studies illustrate the usefulness of theDs-optimal input for autoregressive model discrimination.     

Characterization of Na-X,Na-A,and coal fly ash zeolites and their amorphous precursors by IR,MAS NMR and XPS

By fusion with sodium hydroxide followed by a hydrothermal reaction, fly ash and Alenriched fly ash were converted into Na-X and Na-A zeolites, respectively. The authentic Na-X, Na-A and fly ash zeolites as well as their amorphous precursors have been characterized by IR, ²⁹Si and ²⁷Al MAS NMR, XPS/AES, TG, and comparative ion-exchange studies of Cs and K with Na in zeolite samples. It appears that the same structural unit with a terminal OH, such as a sodalite unit, was formed in the induction period of the hydrothermal reaction for Na-X and Na-A, and then cross-linked through D4R and D6R external linkages to build up the zeolite framework of Na-A and Na-X, respectively.
