Adherence and bouncing of liquid droplets impacting on dry surfaces   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The paper explores liquid drop dynamics over a solid surface, focusing on adherence and bouncing phenomena. The study relies on detailed interface tracking simulations using the Level Set approach incorporated within a Navier–Stokes solver. The investigation deals with moderate Reynolds number droplet flows, for which two-dimensional axisymmetric simulations can be performed. The modelling approach has been validated against experiments for axisymmetric and full three-dimensional impact upon dry surfaces. A drop-impact regime map is generated for axisymmetric conditions, in which the impact dynamics is characterized as a function of Weber number and equilibrium contact angle, based on about 60 simulations. The detailed simulations also helped validate a new mechanistic model based on energy-balance analysis, delimiting the boundary between adherence and bouncing zones at low Weber numbers. The mechanistic model is only valid for moderate droplet Reynolds numbers and it complements existing models for higher Reynolds numbers.  相似文献

Media access protocols in wireless networks require each contending node to wait for a backoff time, chosen randomly from a fixed range, before attempting to transmit on a shared channel. However, nodes acting in their own selfish interest may not follow the protocol. In this paper, a static version of the problem is modeled as a strategic game played by non-cooperating, rational players (the nodes). The objective is to design a game which exhibits a unique, a priori mixed-strategy Nash equilibrium. In the context of the media access problem, the equilibrium of the game would correspond to nodes choosing backoff times randomly from a given range of values, according to the given distribution. We consider natural variations of the problems concerning the number of actions available to the players and show that it is possible to design such a game when there are at least two players that each have the largest number of possible actions among all players. In contrast, we show that if there are exactly two players with different number of actions available to them, then it becomes impossible to design a strategic game with a unique such Nash equilibrium.  相似文献

The main aim of this work is to improve the security of data hiding for secret image sharing. The privacy and security of digital information have become a primary concern nowadays due to the enormous usage of digital technology. The security and the privacy of users’ images are ensured through reversible data hiding techniques. The efficiency of the existing data hiding techniques did not provide optimum performance with multiple end nodes. These issues are solved by using Separable Data Hiding and Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (SDHAPSO) algorithm to attain optimal performance. Image encryption, data embedding, data extraction/image recovery are the main phases of the proposed approach. DFT is generally used to extract the transform coefficient matrix from the original image. DFT coefficients are in float format, which assists in transforming the image to integral format using the round function. After obtaining the encrypted image by data-hider, additional data embedding is formulated into high-frequency coefficients. The proposed SDHAPSO is mainly utilized for performance improvement through optimal pixel location selection within the image for secret bits concealment. In addition, the secret data embedding capacity enhancement is focused on image visual quality maintenance. Hence, it is observed from the simulation results that the proposed SDHAPSO technique offers high-level security outcomes with respect to higher PSNR, security level, lesser MSE and higher correlation than existing techniques. Hence, enhanced sensitive information protection is attained, which improves the overall system performance.  相似文献

A distance-optimal algorithm for selection on the mesh has proved to be elusive, although distance-optimal algorithms for the related problems of routing and sorting have recently been discovered. In this paper we explain, using the notion of adaptiveness, why techniques used in the currently best selection algorithms cannot lead to a distance-optimal algorithm. For worst-case inputs we apply new techniques to improve the previous best upper bound of 1.22n of Kaklamanis et al. [7] to 1.15n . Non-intrusive local temperature measurement in convective microchannel flows using infrared (IR) thermography is presented. This technique can be used to determine local temperatures of the visualized channel wall or liquid temperature near this wall in IR-transparent heat sinks. The technique is demonstrated on water flow through a silicon (Si) microchannel. A high value of a combined liquid emissivity and substrate overall transmittance coupled with a low uncertainty in estimating this factor is important for quantitative temperature measurement using IR thermography. The test section design, and experimental and data analysis procedures that provide increased sensitivity of the detected intensity to the desired temperature are discussed. Experiments are performed on a 13-mm long, 50 μm wide by 135 μm deep Si microchannel at a constant heat input to the heat sink surface for flow rates between 0.6 and 1.2 g min−1. Uncertainty in fluid temperature varies from a minimum of 0.60°C for a Reynolds number (Re) of 297 to a maximum of 1.33°C for a Re of 251.  相似文献

Anodization is an easily viable technique useful for producing TiO2 coatings on titanium substrates. Nano-crystalline anodic TiO2 structure was produced on titanium at 20 V using 1 M Na2SO4 and 0.5% NaF and consolidated by a further heat-treatment. Micro-crystalline anodic TiO2 was produced on titanium by applying a galvanostatic current density of 70 A/m2 in water medium. To assess the usefulness of these nano- and micro-oxides for bone implant stability, physical properties and bone in vitro bioactivity including HA formation, cellular affinity and mouse-tissue morphogenesis, were evaluated. Bioactivity of the different anodic surfaces was evaluated by treating them in a simulated body fluid (SBF) to form hydroxyapatite (HA) and the rates of HA formation were compared. Deposits of HA could be seen on the nano-oxide surface within 7 days, whereas HA was detected only after 14 days on the micro-oxide surface. In vitro cell culture tests done using mouse osteoblasts indicated that the nano-oxides showed statistically significant cell activity than the micro-oxides and the machined titanium. Branching morphogenesis test done for 72 h on these surfaces showed more branching on the micro- and nano-oxides as compared with titanium surface.  相似文献
