Knowledge transfer offices (KTOs) are required to adopt a comprehensive approach to managing a broad set of channels of university–industry collaboration, including collaborative research, business services, exchange of human resources and informal relations within a regional innovation system. The perspectives of firms and academic researchers, the main stakeholders of KTOs, are useful complements to assess KTO activity. The goal of this article is to study the effectiveness that these stakeholders attribute to KTOs. Based on survey data collected in the Spanish region of Andalusia, the article explores stakeholders’ perceptions and determinants. The results show that the level of engagement in a diversified range of activities and the importance attributed to knowledge transfer in the strategy of both research groups and firms are the best predictors of the perceived effectiveness of KTOs. The article also underlines specific differences between the two types of stakeholders.  相似文献

Hyperbolic moment equations based on Burnett’s expansion of the distribution function are derived for the Boltzmann equation with linearized collision operator. Boundary conditions are equipped for these models, and it is proven that the number of boundary conditions is correct for a large class of moment models. A new second-order numerical scheme is proposed for solving these moment equations, and the new method is suitable for both ordered- and full-moment theories. Numerical experiments are carried out for both one- and two-dimensional problems to show the performance of the moment methods.  相似文献

This paper proposes a plausible methodology for quantification of risk due to seismic related design and construction errors in nuclear power plants. This is based on information available on errors discovered in the past, as reported in construction deficiency reports pursuant to US NRC regulations. Deficiencies found during construction whose recurrence is considered possible are included. The possibility of deficiencies not being discovered is evaluated by comparison of data between operating plants and those under construction. Error consequences are also evaluated from construction deficiency reports; in particular, the impact of errors on the seismic capacity of the plants is quantified by an extension of seismic probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) methods.The application of the method is illustrated based on a limited review of data, showing its capabilities and limitations. Some tentative results are presented, but these by no means represent a formal assessment.  相似文献

We present an investigation of the Residual-Free Bubble (RFB) finite element method for a class of multiscale nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations. After proposing a nonlinear version for the method, we address fundamental questions as existence and uniqueness of solutions. We also obtain a best approximation result and investigate possible linearizations that generate different versions for the method. All estimates are independent of eventual oscillations in the coefficients, and as far as we are aware, this is the first time that an analysis for the nonlinear RFB method is considered.  相似文献

Attentional control theory is an approach to anxiety and cognition representing a major development of Eysenck and Calvo's (1992) processing efficiency theory. It is assumed that anxiety impairs efficient functioning of the goal-directed attentional system and increases the extent to which processing is influenced by the stimulus-driven attentional system. In addition to decreasing attentional control, anxiety increases attention to threat-related stimuli. Adverse effects of anxiety on processing efficiency depend on two central executive functions involving attentional control: inhibition and shifting. However, anxiety may not impair performance effectiveness (quality of performance) when it leads to the use of compensatory strategies (e.g., enhanced effort; increased use of processing resources). In this study, the authors investigated how salient visual features capture attention and facilitate detection of emotional facial expressions. In a visual search task, a target emotional face (happy, disgusted, fearful, angry, sad, or surprised) was presented in an array of neutral faces. Faster detection of happy and, to a lesser extent, surprised and disgusted faces was found both under upright and inverted display conditions. Inversion slowed down the detection of these faces less than that of others (fearful, angry, and sad). Accordingly, the detection advantage involves processing of featural rather than configural information. The facial features responsible for the detection advantage are located in the mouth rather than the eye region. Computationally modeled visual saliency predicted both attentional orienting and detection. Saliency was greatest for the faces (happy) and regions (mouth) that were fixated earlier and detected faster, and there was close correspondence between the onset of the modeled saliency peak and the time at which observers initially fixated the faces. The authors conclude that visual saliency of specific facial features--especially the smiling mouth--is responsible for facilitated initial orienting, which thus shortens detection.
