Trait and cultural psychology perspectives on cross-role consistency and its relation to adjustment were examined in 2 individualistic cultures, the United States (N = 231) and Australia (N = 195), and 4 collectivistic cultures, Mexico (N = 199), the Philippines (N = 195), Malaysia (N = 217), and Japan (N = 180). Cross-role consistency in trait ratings was evident in all cultures, supporting trait perspectives. Cultural comparisons of mean consistency provided support for cultural psychology perspectives as applied to East Asian cultures (i.e., Japan) but not collectivistic cultures more generally. Some but not all of the hypothesized predictors of consistency were supported across cultures. Cross-role consistency predicted aspects of adjustment in all cultures, but prediction was most reliable in the U.S. sample and weakest in the Japanese sample. Alternative constructs proposed by cultural psychologists-personality coherence, social appraisal, and relationship harmony-predicted adjustment in all cultures but were not, as hypothesized, better predictors of adjustment in collectivistic cultures than in individualistic cultures. This study examined factors related to family, social, and romantic loneliness in 173 undergraduate students (66 males, 107 females). Participants completed measures of attachment style, perceived availability of social support, use of social support coping, and loneliness. Results indicated that participants with greater attachment security reported lower levels of all types of loneliness compared to those with less attachment security, and this was partially mediated by perceived social support but not the use of social support coping. When examining underlying attachment constructs, a more positive model of others was related to less family and social loneliness, and these associations were mediated by greater perceived social support. Model of others also was associated with less romantic loneliness and model of self was associated with less loneliness in all domains, and these relations were partially mediated by perceived social support. Findings are discussed with respect to possible interventions to increase students' perceptions of available social support and to decrease overall loneliness levels. Metal-semiconductor nanostructures in various configurations are extensively used in photodetection, photocatalysis, and photovoltaics. For photodetection purposes, the working principle is straightforward; on illumination, generated charge carriers in excess lead to a decrease in resistance. Notably, using an interconnected metal-semiconductor grating, it is observed and now reported an opposite response, an increase in the resistance. Such photoresistors are fabricated through wrinkle structuring and oblique angle material deposition methods. It is found that the controlled wrinkling leads to large-area 1D periodic structures with coexisting cracking perpendicular to the grating direction—such cracks are used as connections between the two-point contact measurement through the associated gold layer deposition. An enhanced current reduction is further observed on photoexcitation for an additional deposition of an amorphous titania layer. Subsequently, a discussion on the mechanisms and interaction between hot electron injection, charge carrier recombination, and thermalization is presented. Supported by numerical modeling, the angle-resolved plasmonic modes with the photoresistance can be correlated. The ease of layered deposition of the materials allows one to extend the studies on cavity-based structures with sandwiched titania layers as hotspots. This simple, scalable, and robust fabrication method thus promises an efficient routeway toward photosensor development in which plasmon-mediated hot electrons play a crucial role.  相似文献
