We explicitly construct global strict Lyapunov functions for rapidly time-varying nonlinear control systems. The Lyapunov functions we construct are expressed in terms of oftentimes more readily available Lyapunov functions for the limiting dynamics which we assume are uniformly globally asymptotically stable. This leads to new sufficient conditions for uniform global exponential, uniform global asymptotic, and input-to-state stability of fast time-varying dynamics. We also construct strict Lyapunov functions for our systems using a strictification approach. We illustrate our results using several examples.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new method for textured image retrieval, by the modal analysis of quantized spectral point patterns as the modal correspondence method of Shapiro and Brady, to match point sets by comparing the eigenvectors of a pairwise point proximity matrix taken from the power spectrum peaks. A variant of the Carcassoni, Ribeiro and Hancock method for performing recognition is taken into account. For choosing image features to represent an image, a quantization scheme is applied. This quantization scheme acts in the spectral space given by the Fourier transform of each image. Its goal is to find a small set which represents an image efficiently, where the most important features are presented. The proposed technique is invariant to rotation and is robust in the presence of noise and damaged images. The techniques here presented are compared, and the commonly used retrieval performance measurement—precision and recall—is used as evaluation of the query results.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: A potential application of inulinase in the food industry is the production of fructooligosaccharides (FOS) through transfructosilation of sucrose. Besides their ability to increase the shelf‐life and flavor of many products, FOS have many interesting functional properties. The use of an industrial medium may represent a good, cost‐effective alternative to produce inulinase, since the activity of the enzyme produced may be improved or at least remain the same compared with that obtained using a synthetic medium. Thus, inulinase production for use in FOS synthesis is of considerable scientific and technological appeal, as is the development of a reliable mathematical model of the process. This paper describes a hybrid neural network approach to model inulinase production in a batch bioreactor using agroindustrial residues as substrate. The hybrid modeling makes use of a series artificial neural network to estimate the kinetic parameters of the process and the mass balance as constitutive equations. RESULTS: The proposed model was shown to be capable of describing the complex behavior of inulinase production employing agroindustrial residues as substrate, so that the mathematical framework developed is a useful tool for simulation of this process. CONCLUSION: The hybrid neural network model developed was shown to be an interesting alternative to estimate model parameters since complete elucidation of the phenomena and mechanisms involved in the fermentation is not required owing to the black‐box nature of the ANN used as parameter estimator. Thin liquid sheets occur in several practical applications. In curtain coating, a thin liquid sheet is formed and falls freely over a considerable height before it impinges onto a moving substrate. Precision curtain coating was developed for multi layer photographic films but its use has expanded to many different applications. One of the important limits of this process is the stability of the liquid curtain, which may define the minimal thickness that can be coated at a given web speed.The condition at which a low viscosity Newtonian liquid curtain breaks was first derived based on a simple balance between inertial and capillary forces. There is a critical flow rate below which the curtain becomes unstable. For viscoelastic liquids, the normal stress related to the stretching of polymer molecules as the liquid accelerates down the curtain changes the force balance. Here, the critical condition at which a viscoelastic liquid curtain breaks was determined as a function of the rheological properties of the liquid. The results show that high extensional viscosity liquids create more stable curtains. Liquid additives could be used to push the limits of curtain flow rates to smaller values and consequently to widen the operability window of the process.  相似文献

Most developing countries include rural electrification programs in their efforts to improve social conditions. There are, however, several obstacles to the evaluation of such programs and therefore of their social, economic, environmental and energy impacts on the target population, particularly on impoverished communities located in remote areas. Evaluation of the efficacy of public policies aimed at rural electrification in South Africa, China, India and Brazil enables such actions to be quantified and re-considered so as to bolster the sustainability of their planning and implementation and also so as to enable comprehension of the significance of access to electricity in relation to other aspects of the drive to improve living standards. The provision of electric energy amounts to more than access to a public service and should be considered an essential right, in a context of social equity and justice, which permits social integration and the access to other equally essential services.  相似文献

Subclinical endometritis (SCE) has a severe negative effect on reproductive performance of dairy cows. Different studies have shown a wide variety of cut points for the polymorphonuclear neutrophilic leukocyte (PMNL) percentage to define SCE and differing sampling times. Possible risk factors for SCE, such as low body condition score, hyperketonemia, and increased haptoglobin concentrations have been demonstrated. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between bacterial findings in the uterus and PMNL in the early postpartum period and to compare 2 classification schemes for the diagnosis of SCE. Cytological and bacteriological samples from the uterus were taken from 149 cows at 2 consecutive times postpartum [10 ± 1 and 24 ± 1 d in milk (DIM)] and additionally, 131 cows were sampled at 21 to 27 DIM. For sample collection, the cytobrush technique was used and vaginal discharge was examined by vaginoscopy. Polymorphonuclear neutrophilic leukocyte cut points were set at 5, 10, and 18%. Cows positive with α-hemolytic streptococci at 10 ± 1 DIM had significant higher PMNL percentages at 21 to 27 DIM and greater median days to pregnancy (193.5 d) than cows not infected (123.0 d). Cows with Trueperella pyogenes at 10 ± 1 DIM had higher odds (5.2) of having more than 18% PMNL at 21 to 27 DIM compared with cows without infection. Escherichia coli had no effect on the prevalence of SCE regardless of the cut point. Primiparous cows with more than 18% PMNL had greater median days to pregnancy (144.5 d) than cows with less than 5% (80.0 d) or cows between 5 and 18% PMNL (68.0 d). Cows between 5 and 18% PMNL or 10 and 18% PMNL showed the best reproductive performance. The results demonstrate that an early infection with α-hemolytic streptococci increased the PMNL percentage 2 wk later and that 18% PMNL at 21 to 27 DIM was a predictive cut point for primiparous cows to diagnose animals with or without SCE.  相似文献

Fixed-bed pyrolysis biooils of hazelnut (Corylus Avellana L.) bagasse have been identified for their structures. The condensed biooils were analyzed for their properties as fuels and compared with petroleum-derived products. The biooil was analyzed by Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and 1H-NMR spectra. The biooils were fractionated into pentane solubles and insolubles. Pentane solubles were then solvent fractionated into pentane, toluene and methanol subfractions by fractionated column chromatograpy. The aliphatic subfractions of the biooils were then analyzed by capillary column gas-liquid chromatography (GC). In addition, the physical properties, higher heating value and elemental analysis of the biooil were determined. The empirical formula of biooil that has a heating value of 34.57 MJ/kg was established as CH1.45O0.33N0.127. Chromatographic and spectroscopic studies on the biooil showed that the oil obtained from hazelnut bagasse could be used as a renewable fuel and chemical feedstock.  相似文献
