The present study proposes a new approach for the assessment of the human balance control. This approach is based on the decomposition of the center of pressure displacement using empirical mode decomposition (EMD) that provides an effective time-frequency analysis of non-stationary signals. Twenty-eight healthy subjects performed quiet standing in four conditions—feet apart/together with respect to eyes open/closed—while recording the stabilometric signals in the anteroposterior (AP) and mediolateral (ML) directions. The EMD method decomposes each stabilometric signal into several subsignals called intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Stabilogram-diffusion analysis technique is applied to generate the diffusion curve of each IMF signal. Each diffusion curve is modeled as a second-order system and provides representative features, such as the gain parameter. Analysis of the gain parameter shows the major effect of visual input and feet conditions on the strategy to control/stabilize the balance. Significant differences were found between young and elderly, and between women and men. In addition, the impact of feet position seems to be higher in ML direction than in AP direction.  相似文献

The role of thiol/disulphide exchanges during acid gelation of preheated milk was studied with milk samples with or without N‐ethylmaleimide (NEM), a thiol‐blocking agent, and acidified to pH 4 by the addition of glucono‐delta‐lactone at 20 °C. Active or total thiol groups, particle size with light scattering measurements in a dissociating solvent or by SDS‐agarose electrophoresis were determined on acidified milk samples. Diffusing wave spectroscopy and rheology in low strain were applied during acidification of sample, while rheology in large strain was applied on final acid gels. The only effect of the presence of NEM was a reduced firmness of acid gels as measured at large strain and a reduced tendency to form large aggregates at pH<5.5. In conclusions, thiol/disulphide exchanges during acidification of milk played only a minor role in the building of acid gel networks from heated milk.  相似文献

Machine strength grading of structural timber is based upon relationships between so called indicating properties (IPs) and bending strength. However, such relationships applied on the market today are rather poor. In this paper, new IPs and a new grading method resulting in more precise strength predictions are presented. The local fibre orientation on face and edge surfaces of wooden boards was identified using high resolution laser scanning. In combination with knowledge regarding basic wood material properties for each investigated board, the grain angle information enabled a calculation of the variation of the local MOE in the longitudinal direction of the boards. By integration over cross-sections along the board, an edgewise bending stiffness profile and a longitudinal stiffness profile, respectively, were calculated. A new IP was defined as the lowest bending stiffness determined along the board. For a sample of 105 boards of Norway spruce of dimension 45 × 145 × 3,600 mm³, a coefficient of determination as high as 0.68–0.71 was achieved between this new IP and bending strength. For the same sample, the coefficient of determination between global MOE, based on the first longitudinal resonance frequency and the board density, and strength was only 0.59. Furthermore, it is shown that improved accuracy when determining the stiffness profiles of boards will lead to even better predictions of bending strength. The results thus motivate both an industrial implementation of the suggested method and further research aiming at more accurately determined board stiffness profiles.  相似文献

Vinyl decanoate-modified dextran macromolecules (DexT40-VD) were synthesized in dimethyl sulfoxide at 50°C using lipase AY from Candida rugosa for catalyzing transesterification between polysaccharide and vinyl fatty esters. The extent of dextran modification (quantified by the molar ratio of attached alkyl tails to sugar repeat units) with native-, pH-adjusted-, 18-crown-6 ether pretreated pH-adjusted-, and stepwise addition of pretreated lipase AY yielded <3%, 49%, 64% and 96% modified dextran respectively. Lipase AY accelerated the transesterification of DexT40 from 2- to 63-fold higher than the non-catalyzed system. This procedure was extended to other acyl donors showing that modification pattern exhibited regioselectivity depending on acyl donor structure. Regioselectivity equaled between 2- and 3-OH with saturated fatty acyl donors. The 2-OH was favored for unsaturated fatty acyl donors, while sterically hindered acyl donors oriented modification toward 3-OH position. DexT40-VD at 96% modification was a water-insoluble polymer forming 150nm diameter nanoparticles in water which can be used as drug carrier systems.  相似文献

The bacterial community of fermented horse milk (koumiss) from Mongolia was studied using three methods: cultivation, direct identification by 16S rRNA clone library and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). Ninety-eight strains were isolated by traditional cultivation and 61 of those were randomly selected for further identification by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The strains were dominated by lactic acid bacteria (LAB; six different lactobacilli), Acinetobacter, Bacillus and Psychrobacter. Construction of the clone library analysis revealed that 16S sequences of 220 clones, genus Lactobacillus was dominant, but Streptococcus thermophilus, Acetobacter pasteurianus and uncultured clones were also detected. Ten unique bands were sequenced from the DGGE and revealed: Lactococcus lactis, Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis, Clostridium acidurici, Acinetobacter johnsonii, Dickeya sp., Enterobacter sp., Pseudomonas sp., Raoultella sp., and Ruminococcus sp.. In vitro growth inhibition of three human pathogens, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter sakazakii and Staphylococcus aureus by 14 culturable bacteria displayed that only three of the isolates tested inhibit growth of E. sakazakii while most of the other bacteria delayed growth of the target bacteria.  相似文献
