Distortions of the cornea associated with keratoconus are the manifestations of increased level, compared to normal, of higher order aberrations. It is highly relevant to use corneal aberrations to describe the optical quality of the cornea. The aim of the current study was to develop a keratoconus detection scheme based on Zernike coefficients. The results showed that the best detector to differentiate between suspected keratoconus and normal corneas was vertical coma (Z(3)(-1)) (specificity 71.9%; sensitivity 89.3%). The results demonstrated an improved use of videokeratoscope as a diagnostic tool for keratoconus detection that can be used for all types of videokeratoscopes. 相似文献

Inconsistency is a fundamental problem in simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). Previous works from predecessors have studied the inconsistent problem of extended Kalman filter (EKF) SLAM algorithm focusing on the linearization errors. In this paper, we studied the inconsistency issue of EKF SLAM in theory based on measurement noise and observation time. In a simplified situation, we deduced some useful theorems of estimated covariance matrix. Then, we made use of them to investigate the inconsistency issue. We showed that the measurement noise and the observation times can drive the EKF SLAM out of consistency. Moreover, we demonstrated the explicit effects of measurement noise and observation times on inconsistency of the EKF SLAM. Our simulation experiments verified the results. 相似文献

Aging is associated with a progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass and function termed sarcopenia. Various metabolic alterations that occur with aging also increase the risk of undernutrition, which can worsen age-related sarcopenia. However, the impact of undernutrition on aged skeletal muscle remains largely under-researched. To build a deeper understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying age-related sarcopenia, we characterized the undernutrition-induced changes in the skeletal muscle proteome in old rats. For this study, 20-month-old male rats were fed 50% or 100% of their spontaneous intake for 12 weeks, and proteomic analysis was performed on both slow- and fast-twitch muscles. Proteomic profiling of undernourished aged skeletal muscle revealed that undernutrition has profound effects on muscle proteome independently of its effect on muscle mass. Undernutrition-induced changes in muscle proteome appear to be muscle-type-specific: slow-twitch muscle showed a broad pattern of differential expression in proteins important for energy metabolism, whereas fast-twitch muscle mainly showed changes in protein turnover between undernourished and control rats. This first proteomic analysis of undernourished aged skeletal muscle provides new molecular-level insight to explain phenotypic changes in undernourished aged muscle. We anticipate this work as a starting point to define new biomarkers associated with undernutrition-induced muscle loss in the elderly. 相似文献

In the last two decades, bifunctional proteins have been created by genetic and protein engineering methods to increase therapeutic effects in various diseases, including cancer. Unlike conventional small molecule or monotargeted drugs, bifunctional proteins have increased biological activity while maintaining low systemic toxicity. The recombinant anti-cancer cytokine TRAIL has shown a limited therapeutic effect in clinical trials. To enhance the efficacy of TRAIL, we designed the HRH–DR5-B fusion protein based on the DR5-selective mutant variant of TRAIL fused to the anti-angiogenic synthetic peptide HRHTKQRHTALH. Initially low expression of HRH–DR5-B was enhanced by the substitution of E. coli-optimized codons with AT-rich codons in the DNA sequence encoding the first 7 amino acid residues of the HRH peptide. However, the HRH–DR5-B degraded during purification to form two adjacent protein bands on the SDS-PAGE gel. The replacement of His by Ser at position P2 immediately after the initiator Met dramatically minimized degradation, allowing more than 20 mg of protein to be obtained from 200 mL of cell culture. The resulting SRH–DR5-B fusion bound the VEGFR2 and DR5 receptors with high affinity and showed increased cytotoxic activity in 3D multicellular tumor spheroids. SRH–DR5-B can be considered as a promising candidate for therapeutic applications. 相似文献

Virtual teams are gaining increasing momentum in contemporary organizations. Although it is becoming clear that virtual teams will play a major role in shaping the future of work, we still know relatively little about their creative performance. Because of the disproportionate focus on conventional, face-to-face working practices, much of the literature remains centred around co-located teams. In this review, we integrate existing research on team creativity and virtual work to identify the relevant factors, processes and contextual conditions that have been shown to influence creativity in virtual teams. We highlight the major challenges that are likely to impede team creativity and assess their relevance to contemporary virtual work practices. We conclude by presenting promising avenues for future research in this area. 相似文献
