The rapid growth in demand for data and the emerging applications of Big Data require the increase of memory capacity. Magnetic memory devices are among the leading technologies for meeting this demand; however, they rely on the use of ferromagnets that creates size reduction limitations and poses complex materials requirements. Usually magnetic memory sizes are limited to 30–50 nm. Reducing the size even further, to the ≈10–20 nm scale, destabilizes the magnetization and its magnetic orientation becomes susceptible to thermal fluctuations and stray magnetic fields. In the present work, it is shown that 10 nm single domain ferromagnetism can be achieved. Using asymmetric adsorption of chiral molecules, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles become ferromagnetic with an average coercive field of ≈80 Oe. The asymmetric adsorption of molecules stabilizes the magnetization direction at room temperature and the orientation is found to depend on the handedness of the chiral molecules. These studies point to a novel method for the miniaturization of ferromagnets (down to ≈10 nm) using established synthetic protocols.  相似文献

A family is analysed in which disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis (DSAP) occurred in five members. All three children of one generation are affected. Clinical, histopathological and genetic aspects of DSAP are discussed. Disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis appears to be a clinical variant of porokeratosis of Mibelli. Since DSAP is a genodermatosis inherited as an autosomal dominant it can occur in any geographical location; however excess sunlight can definitely exacerbate the condition.  相似文献

Inkjet technology is a compelling method for the flexible and cost‐effective printing of functional inks. We show that nanocomposite solutions based on polystyrene and differently sized core/shell‐type nanocrystals (NCs) formed by a CdSe core coated with a shell of ZnS (CdSe@ZnS) in a single solvent, chloroform, can be reliably dispensed into luminescent, multicolor pixel arrays. This study demonstrates the relevance of parameters like polymer concentration and nozzle diameter, highlighting how the optimal conditions to print NCs embedded in 5 wt% polystyrene nanocomposite are given by a 70‐µm‐diameter nozzle. The obtained structures show that the bright size‐dependent emission of the NCs in the nanocomposite is retained in the printed pixels.  相似文献

Deposition of γ-Al2O3 washcoats onto Aluminium and FeCrAlloy® supports in the form of slabs and onto -Al2O3 tubes was performed according to a two-step procedure involving: (a) deposition of a bohemite primer, (b) deposition of the γ-Al2O3 layer, both by dip coating into powder dispersions in HNO3 aqueous solutions. We present herein data concerning the effects of the major preparation variables (HNO3 and H2O concentrations in the dispersion, withdrawal velocity, drying temperature, number of dipping cycles, calcination temperature) on the deposited coating load and on the adherence of the washcoat. Based on a rheological characterisation of the γ-Al2O3 dispersions, we propose also a correlation between their apparent viscosity and the washcoat load. Finally, we briefly illustrate the activity in catalytic combustion reactions of structured Pd-based catalysts prepared according to the investigated washcoating methods.  相似文献

Recent evidence highlights Parkinson’s disease (PD) initiation in the gut as the prodromal phase of neurodegeneration. Gut impairment due to microbial dysbiosis could affect PD pathogenesis and progression. Here, we propose a two-hit model of PD through ceftriaxone (CFX)-induced dysbiosis and gut inflammation before the 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) intrastriatal injection to mimic dysfunctional gut-associated mechanisms preceding PD onset. Therefore, we showed that dysbiosis and gut damage amplified PD progression, worsening motor deficits induced by 6-OHDA up to 14 days post intrastriatal injection. This effect was accompanied by a significant increase in neuronal dopaminergic loss (reduced tyrosine hydroxylase expression and increased Bcl-2/Bax ratio). Notably, CFX pretreatment also enhanced systemic and colon inflammation of dual-hit subjected mice. The exacerbated inflammatory response ran in tandem with a worsening of colonic architecture and gut microbiota perturbation. Finally, we demonstrated the beneficial effect of post-biotic sodium butyrate in limiting at once motor deficits, neuroinflammation, and colon damage and re-shaping microbiota composition in this novel dual-hit model of PD. Taken together, the bidirectional communication of the microbiota–gut–brain axis and the recapitulation of PD prodromal/pathogenic features make this new paradigm a useful tool for testing or repurposing new multi-target compounds in the treatment of PD.  相似文献

A class II hybrid sol-gel material was prepared starting from zirconium(IV) propoxide and 2,4-pentanedione and its catalytic activity in the removal of the herbicide 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyacetic acid (MCPA) was revealed. The thermal and structural characterization, performed by thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis, and diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, demonstrated the hybrid nature of the material. The structure of the material can be described as a polymeric network of zirconium oxo clusters, on the surface of which large part of Zr(4+) ions are involved in strong complexation equilibria with acetylacetonate (acac) ligands. The incubation of MCPA in the presence of this material yielded an herbicide removal fraction up to 98%. A two-step mechanism was proposed for the MCPA removal, in which a reversible first-order adsorption of the herbicide is followed by its catalytic degradation. The nature of the products of the MCPA catalytic degradation as well as the reaction conditions adopted do not support typical oxidation pathways involving radicals, suggesting the existence of a different mechanism in which the Zr(4+):acac enol-type complex can act as Lewis acid catalyst.  相似文献
