Structural study of cubic pyrochlores based on quantum mechanical simulation

In the ideal A₂B₂O₆O′ pyrochlore structure, the x-value of O atom position is a variable parameter. In Bi_1.5ZnNb_1.5−xTa_xO₇ (BZNT) cubic pyrochlores, the x-values alter with the different compositions of Nb/Ta. In this work, a series of initial models for BZNT were established by analyzing X-ray diffraction data. Then three structure modifying methods, including Rietveld refinement, Rietveld refinement with energy and geometry optimization based on quantum mechanics, were employed to obtain the precise models using Materials Studio. Moreover, the reflectivities of BZNT were computed by quantum mechanical simulation based on the refined models. Comparing the simulation results from different modifying models with the experimental results, it is found that Rietveld refinement with energy optimization is the most accurate method for BZNT pyrochlores. According to the simulation results, the different reflectivities correspond well with various x-values of O atom positions in BZNT pyrochlores.

新型水泥浆实心减轻材料FXW在固井中的应用研究

低密度水泥浆常用泡沫和漂珠作为减轻材料，但泡沫和漂珠的一个共同缺陷是承压能力有限。在现场使用时，地面密度和井下密度是不一致的，这将打破注水泥压力平衡，给固井施工带来一定的风险。为此，通过大量实验，根据颗粒紧密堆积原则，以粉煤灰、改性橡胶粉、微硅、石灰类矿物等为原料，复配出一种新型实心耐压减轻材料 FXW 。由于FXW为实心减轻材料，能够承受压力，因而能够适应井下高压条件。实验表明，FXW低密度水泥浆强度高，韧性好，可更好地满足油气井后期开发需求。

受自然环境、管道腐蚀、第三方破坏及管理不善等因素的影响,海底管道系统在铺设及运行过程中常常会失效。文中以海底管道穿孔、凝管、断裂和设备故障等主要失效形式为顶事件建立了海底管道系统失效故障树,通过系统的定性分析得到了海底管道系统失效故障树的37个一阶最小割集,进而确定了影响海底管道系统失效的4项主要因素,并针对这些主要因素提出了相应的解决问题的措施。

Investigation on Single-Mode–Multimode– Single-Mode Fiber Structure

This paper presents an investigation on a single-mode-multimode-single-mode fiber structure. A one-way guided-mode propagation analysis for the circular symmetry waveguide is employed to model the light propagation and the approximated formulations are derived and evaluated concerning the accuracy. Phase conjunction of the multimode interference within the fiber structure is revealed. A simple way to predict and analyze the spectral response of the structure is presented through the space to wavelength mapping with the derived approximated formulations. The prediction of spectral response is verified numerically and experimentally.

What does the object decision task measure? Reflections on the basis of evidence from semantic dementia.

The authors investigated the impact of semantic knowledge on visual object analysis by assessing the performance of patients with semantic dementia on a different-views object matching test and on 2 object decision tests differing, for example, in whether the nonreal items were nonsense objects or chimeras of 2 real objects. On average, the patients scored normally on both the object matching and the object decision test including nonsense objects but were impaired on the object decision test including chimeras; this latter was also the only visual object test that correlated significantly with degree of semantic impairment. These findings demonstrate that object decision is not a single task or ability and that it is not necessarily independent of conceptual knowledge.
